"I don't know. Now will you please leave me alone?" You no longer had the patience to be nice to Ino. Not after the girl had spent an hour interrogating you on what 'couple life', as she had dubbed it, was like. You had been forced to answer numerous (very) pointless questions, such as, "what's his favourite thing about you?" and "how often do you guys make out?"

Normally, you would have answered all of her questions with explicit detail, but the facts that you and Sai barely made small talk, let alone do couple-y things, you were irritated and very grumpy.

Ino looked offended. "Jeez. What's wrong with you today?"

You slumped backwards in the bench at Yakiniku Q, all the fight drained out of you now. "Just frustrated. You keep asking me these questions, and it keeps reminding me that Sai and I are a couple only in name."

Sakura looked sympathetic. "I get what you mean."

You quirked an eyebrow at her. "No, I don't think you do. Unlike Sasuke, Sai is very much present in the village, no offence meant. He's just waaaaay too clueless."

The pinkette shrugged. "No offence taken. And I still do get what you mean."

"Ah...well okay then."

As a result over the afternoon's interrogation, you were unusually quiet during your weekly dinner with Sai, which had been your desperate effort into getting to know him better, but were often full of you chattering away brightly and trying your best to hide the gaping silences in the conversation. And as socially clueless as he was, this did not escape his notice.

"Are you on your period?" He finally asked, after ten minutes of pure silence.

That startled you out of your reverie. "What?"

"I read that when girls are on their period, they often undergo massive behavioural changes. Is that what happened to you?"

You cracked a smile at the mention of the books. "No, it's not that."

"I see." He was quiet for a moment. "Then what is the matter?"

"Well... I was talking to Ino and the girls today. They made me realise that the two of us don't really do any of the typical couple things."

"We do couple things. We have dinner together. And we go out."

"Sai, the only time we went out together other than missions was to the supermarket."

He sounded slightly nonplussed as he asked, "That doesn't count?"

"No. I actually meant more romantic things."

"Such as?"

"I don't know, really. Maybe just more intimate stuff."

"Like sexual intercourse?"

You nearly choked in your water. "No! Sai, you pervert!"

"I am sorry. You see, Kakashi showed me one of his books in which-"

You held up a hand. "Let's not go there, please." You definitely couldn't handle a discussion of Icha Icha right now. Or ever.

"Alright, do you have anything else in mind, then?"

You had to think about that a bit. "How about cuddling?"

The poor boy looked even more confused. "I'm not sure how to do that."

"Don't worry," you told him. "I'll show you. Come to the couch."

When he sat down again, you seated yourself next to him. "When it comes to this, people usually go with the flow. But I guess that's not ideal for you."

Sai nodded, producing a pen and notebook from nowhere. "So cuddling is different from person to person?"

You grabbed the notebook from him and snapped it shut. "Don't write it down! Just... listen. And if you still don't get it,I'll help you out."

"Okay."

"So... to keep it simple, cuddling is a glorified hug. But it can be done in several ways." You still couldn't wrap your mind around the fact that you were teaching someone how to cuddle. Oh, well, there's a first time for everything.

Sai nodded as if he understood. You knew he didn't, though.

You sighed. This was harder than you'd thought. How on earth did one actually explain cuddles? "Okay, fine, forget whatever I just told you and out your arms around me."

He obeyed, albeit rather awkwardly, curling his arms around your waist. You snuggled closer, nuzzling into his toned chest as you felt him gradually relax.

"What next?"

You smiled contently. "That's it, Sai. This is cuddling."

"Really?"

"Really. D'you like it?"

"Yes. We should do it more often."
