I swear, my levels of weirdness constantly manage to surprise me.
I have no idea how.
@Fatal_Hit06 I promise your request is coming next! Until then, please bear with this!
You and Rin sat cross-legged, on the large flat stone in the middle of the clearing. At this time of the year, the forests were full of daisies and other wildflowers. In between you both was the large bundle of wildflowers you'd picked earlier.
"I bet that Kakashi will be here first. He's always on time," she said grinning.
You raised an eyebrow. "C'mon, Rin, have some faith in Obito! I'm betting that he gets here first."
Minato-sensei laughed. "Sorry to discourage you, [Y/n], but we all know that's not going to happen."
"Who knows? Maybe he'll learn from his previous mistakes. And if I lose, it's not like we bet with money or anything. Just flowers."
"The day Obito learns from his mistakes is the day I keel over and die." Kakashi picked his way through the clearing, a frown under his mask. "Why are we training somewhere with so many annoying flowers?"
You chucked a pebble at his head, scowling. "Hey! Bakashi! Don't insult the flowers! Oh, and by the way, Rin, you win." Still scowling, you handed the bundle to her. She grinned and pulled out a few blossoms, threading them together in a flower chain.
Kakashi, having easily dodged the pebble, observed Rin's nimble fingers as they deftly wove the buds together. In a couple of minutes, she was done with a length long enough to be worn as a crown. Her grin widened as she dropped on your head.
"All hail [Y/n], princess of the flowers!"
You put on a haughty expression. "Lady Nohara. I appoint you my official jeweller. Lord Namikaze, I appoint you the Prime Minister. And Bakashi... plumbing duty."
His eyes narrowed. "I didn't ask to be included in your childish games. What are you, seven?"
"On a scale of one to five, yes. And don't talk back to the flower princess!"
He crossed his arms. "Then I resign. The 'princess' is a spoiled brat." His fingers made quotes in the air when he said 'princess'.
You chucked another pebble at him. "I sentence you to death! Nobody resigns from serving the flower princess!"
Kakashi scoffed. "Like you're strong enough to kill me."
You winked. "That's the beauty of being princess. I can just command the Prime Minister, Lord Namikaze, to execute you!"
Minato-sensei held up his hands. "Hey, it didn't include that in the job description!"
"Too bad, sensei. As princess, I just changed the job description!"
Rin giggled, draping another crown over your head. "And you are now promoted to queen."
You graced her with a regal nod. "My thanks, Lady Nohara."
She bobbed her head, still giggling. "My pleasure, your Majesty."
You hopped off the rock. "Bakashi! Bow in the presence of the queen!"
He glared at you. "Queen, only in my night-"
"Sorry I'm late! I had to help an old lady cross the street! And then I got lost, so yeah..." Obito stumbled into the clearing, panting. Kakashi's glare immediately switched to him.
"What a stupid excuse."
"Shut up, Bakashi. Unless you want me and Obito to list out all your faults."
Rin sighed. "Guys, can we please not fight today?"
You deflated. "Fiiine. Because Rin is a sweetheart. And Obito, you owe me. It's your fault I don't have any flowers except the ones on my head!"
"My fault? How?" He looked confused.
Minato-sensei chuckled. "She bet Rin you'd get here before Kakashi. Even though Rin told her that was an obvious loss, [Y/n] wanted to have faith in you."
"And look where that got me," you grumbled, kicking another pebble at Kakashi. He knocked it back at you, and soon there was a mini-football game going on.
Obito, meanwhile, was staring at you as if he'd never seen you before.
Minato-sensei sidestepped the pebble as it soared towards his face. "Enough, you two. Let's begin training. We've wasted enough time already, so pair up and spar until one of you forfeits. And I want all of you to try using a new jutsu, one that you've never used in a spar before."
You nodded. "Okay. Can we pick our own partners?"
"No. [Y/n] with Obito, Rin with Kakashi."
Rin grinned. "Cool."
Kakashi slid his hands into his pockets. "Easy win for me, I guess."
The grin dropped off Rin's face as Obito began yelling at Kakashi. You, meanwhile, carefully tucked Rin's flower crowns into a pocket.
"Obito, leave that baka alone. If he hasn't learnt by now how to have decent manners, he's a hopeless case." You dragged him away from where he was snarling at Kakashi, and faced him. "Ready when you are."
Minato-sensei applauded. "Your control over the earth jutsu is improving. Well done, [Y/n]."
"Thanks." You brushed the dirt out of your hair and offered your opponent a hand up. "You fought well, Obito. I'm pretty sure I only won because I caught you by surprise."
He grinned. "Thanks! But you fought really well, too. You're super strong!"
Your cheeks turned pink at the compliment. "Thanks. But I'm still not strong enough."
"Yeah! One day, you'll be strong enough to kick Kakashi's butt!"
"I desperately hope so. And, Obito?"
"Hm?"
"You still owe me. For me losing the bet."
Before he could answer, Minato-sensei dismissed you all. You, being the lazy soul that you were, headed home immediately and flopped onto the sofa.
"[Y/n]! Chores! Now!" Your mom yelled.
"Jeez, mom, give me a break! I had training all day!" You whined.
"Alright, then. You can nap for an hour, but after that you better do your chores, understood?"
"Better than nothing, I guess." You placed a cushion over your eyes and fell asleep almost immediately.
"[Y/n], wake up. There's some stuff that's arrived for you." Your father shook you awake an hour later.
You sat up groggily. "Eh? Something for me? What is it?"
Your mother chuckled. "We're not ruining the surprise."
"Meh. So I have to get up and go all the way to the door to find out," you grumbled to yourself, dragging your feet as you went. Scowling, you flung the door open, to see Obito standing outside, ankle-deep in wildflowers.
"Um. Hi." You pointed at the flowers. "What's with them?"
Pink dusted his cheeks and he didn't make eye contact with you. "A bit of an apology, a bit of payback."
You quirked an eyebrow at him. "Apology for what?"
He fiddled with his goggles. "... for wasting your faith in me."
"Excuse me?"
He looked up at you. "You bet on me arriving on time. Even Minato-sensei doesn't have that kinda faith in me. So it's my fault you didn't get that huge bunch of flowers, and I know how much you like flowers, so I thought..." he gestured to the bouquets at his feet "why not?"
You picked up a bouquet, marvelling at the way he'd arranged the flowers. "These are beautiful. And there are so many. What did you do, ransack the clearing?"
He grinned sheepishly. "Sort of. Minato-sensei helped."
You tucked the bouquet securely into the crook of your arm and leaned forward, pecking Obito on the cheek. "Thank you. Nobody's ever done something like that for me before."
He blushed and kissed your cheek back. "You're welcome. And actually, there's something else I should probably tell you..."
"What is it?"
"Ikindasorthaveacrushonyou!"
You blinked. "Eh?"
"I kinda sorta have a crush on you." His cheeks turned scarlet and he shoved his hands into his pockets, staring at the floor.
"No, you like Rin. Right?"
"No!" He sounded shocked. "Rin's awesome, but she's just a friend. I like you."
You laughed.
"What's so funny?" He looked anxious, as if he thought that you were laughing at him.
"I kinda sorta have a crush on you too."
