IT'S THE NEXT MORNING.

Spencer is sulking in her room, messing with her homework but not really focusing on it. She couldn't get herself to focus on anything since last night, and of course, it was making her more agitated that she stuck herself in this room.

And yes, she called Bruce back. He didn't answer, so she messaged him, offering an apology for not replying immediately. Given, it was a short, not very genuine reply, but Spencer didn't feel bad.

At about 8:45, there's a knock at Spencer's door. She's skimming pages of her summer reading when she hears it. She thinks she is hallucinating for a hot second, but then the sound is there again. To avoid agents coming after her, Spencer hopped off her bed and pulled the door open.

It's Pietro. He looked uncomfortable and irritated, and his expression did not change when he looked down at Spencer.

She shifted awkwardly, inching the door closed to her.

"What do you want?" she asked.

"Wanda sent me," Pietro admitted stiffly.

Spencer paused. "Okay."

It takes Pietro a second to speak again. "Wanda thinks I was... rude."

"You were," Spencer replied automatically.

"Oh really?" Pietro shoots back. "And you were completely innocent-"

"If you're here to be an ass, you can leave," Spencer told him, seriously. She had spent half the night trying to avoid crying, and this was not the wake-up call she wanted.

Pietro rolled his eyes, and Spencer went to shut herself back into her bedroom.

"They used to look at her the same way," he said, and Spencer delayed closing the door. She turned to him, carefully. "Wanda is powerful," Pietro continued. "More than she was meant to be. It scares them."

Them. He says it so nonchalantly, so dismissively, Spencer has to attach the agents to the pronoun.

"It made her upset," Pietro told Spencer, his voice itching from cool to... something warmer. "It was not easy for her."

Spencer paused. She stared up at the blue-eyed silver-haired boy for a good five seconds before letting out a mix of a laugh and scoff. "Was that your idea of a pep talk? Or an apology?"

"I have nothing to apologize for," Pietro insisted.

Spencer's eyes got impossibly wider, but before anything else could happen, Wanda appeared next to them.

"Spencer," she said, happily, her twin diverting his eyes irritated. "We're going out. Want to come?"

Spencer eyed the twins carefully, and Peter who had just shown up behind Wanda. "Going where?"

"I- I need a ride home," Peter admitted. "I don't have my license, and Happy-"

Spencer faces changes in confusion.

"His babysitter," Pietro offered.

Peter frowned, but continued, "-Isn't here. So Wanda's driving me back."

"Pietro's driving," Wanda corrected, grinning at her brother who rolled his eyes. "I'm babysitting."

"Babysitting?" Spencer echoed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Pietro crushed Tony's car before," Wanda explained, sending her brother a pointed look. "Now he's not allowed to drive alone."

Spencer wanted to make a snide comment, but she was too tired to do so; instead, she just nodded. "Yeah, I'll come with."

Anything was better than being stuck with snary little SHIELD agents who thought she was gonna snap and kill them, or something.

PIETRO IS A TERRIBLE DRIVER.

Spencer has never enjoyed being in cars or car rides, butย  Pietro making sharp turns, jerking the steering wheel, slamming his foot on the acceleration pedal - it was much too much for Spencer.

Peter was the first to notice. He and Spencer are sitting in the back seat when he leans over to whisper carefully, "Are you alright?"

Wanda hears it, too, and turns to check on Spencer.

Even Pietro glanced back through the rearview mirror, but instead of looking concerned, he just grinned.

His stupid, agitated, ugly grin. God, Spencer could literally punch this guy, right here and now. Instead, she takes for gripping the back of Pietro's seat, pulling herself forward, and practically growling in his ear, "Can you stop driving like an asshole?"

He just grins, again, not taking his eyes off the road. "Wanda, do you have a bag for Banner? She is looking, green?"

Spencer has the overwhelming urge to shove him, but she chooses life as she collapses against the seat in frustration.

Peter gives her a sympathetic look, and Wanda mumbled something serious to Pietro.

The car slowed down, but Pietro grinned again in the rearview mirror.

PETER LIVED PRETTY FAR IN THE CITY.

The traffic is bad, and it makes everything go slow, but Spencer's just glad that Pietro's not speeding anymore. Finally, they got to his apartment building, and Pietro stopped right outside the front door.

"Um, thanks guys," Peter said, pulling his bag from the floor to his lap. "For the ride. I really appreciate it."

"We'll see you at six, Peter," Wanda told him kindly, grinning at him."

Peter nodded, and then shot one last smile to Spencer, who reciprocated it a little bit.

The door shut with a thud, and Pietro turned to Wanda. "Where to now?"

"No use in going back to the compound," Wanda mused, glancing out the window before looking back at Pietro. "We need to pick him up soon, anyway. How about lunch? Spencer?"

Spencer looked away from the window and blinked. "Yeah, that sounds great."

"You should know," Wanda said slyly, glancing out the window before looking back at Spencer. "Peter is not visiting his aunt. He's going on a date."

For some reason, this makes Spencer laugh. She's not sure why, it's not funny, and she's not a big laugher, but the way that they just drove for hours for Peter to lie and say -

"You're joking," Pietro said seriously, glaring at Wanda who had a smile on her lips. "Tell me you're joking, Wanda."

"She's very pretty," Wanda added. "Her name is MJ - I don't think he knows what it stands for," she tells Spencer with a grin.

Spencer laughed again, trying to hold it in but failing. She doesn't notice Pietro glance in the mirror.

WANDA PICKED THE RESTAURANT.

Spencer was glad she had thought far enough to bring her wallet, even though she wasn't sure she had nearly enough cash to support any cost of food in NYC.

Knowing what she was thinking, Wanda promised Spencer as they walked to the diner, "Dinner is on Tony, tonight."

"Wait, really?" Spencer questioned, jogging a little to fall into step with Wanda. She was sandwiched between her and Pietro. "How?"

"She has his credit card," Pietro muttered with a grin, and Spencer stared up at him, surprised.

She tucked her hair behind her ear as she checked, "Seriously?"

Wanda held up a sleek looking card.

"Awesome," Spencer muttered, tucking her hands back in her pockets.

There was a booth against the window of the restaurant, and that's where they ended up sitting. It was the perfect seat to see out on the sidewalk, and Spencer was in the middle of questioning if the waiter knew where to put them or if Wanda had done something mind related.

Spencer didn't have much time to think about it before the waiter was sliding her a menu.

At her side, Wanda thanked the waiter, before instantly flipping over the laminated sheet. Spencer lagged behind momentarily, glancing up at Pietro who was sitting there, bored.

Before she could ask, Wanda said, "He's already made his decision."

Realizing that her attention was on him, Pietro smirked down at Spencer, whose eyes just shot down to the menu.

The waiter appeared. "Hi," he asked, smiling at the three of them. "What can I get you?"

Wanda ordered some kind of sandwich, Pietro ordered two burgers.

"I'll have a veggie burger," Spencer said, finally, realizing that this was probably the only diner in NYC that only served burgers and sandwiches - not salads or anything.

"Nice choice," the guy told her with a nod and a smile. "It tastes great. I'll be back out soon."

Spencer's eyes go back to the table until there is a nudge at her side. She looked up to see Wanda smiling widely at her.

"What?" she asked quietly, picking at her sleeves.

"That waiter," she whispered. "He thinks you're very pretty."

Spencer hesitated. Her face heats up, and her neck, too - and it's all she can do to not look up at the guy typing in the orders.

Pietro doesn't say anything to this if he heard it.

"What about you?" Spencer said randomly, and totally unnecessarily. "I mean, boy wise - do you have a boyfriend?" A pause. "Or girlfriend, not trying to disclude the-"

"I do," Wanda assured her softly, and finally, Pietro does reactย  - with a scoff and a roll of his eyes. "Pietro doesn't like it very much."

"Why not?" Spencer asked, looking between the twins. "Is he... in the Avengers?"

"Yes," Wanda admitted with a nod. "Vision and I-"

"Enough of this, please," Pietro groaned, tapping his foot irritatedly.

Spencer let it go, but Wanda rolled her eyes and chided her brother for his silly reaction.

The food came out maybe ten minutes later, and Spencer was glad because she's kinda starving right now.

Unfortunately, the girl who brought out the food was not the original guy, which Spencer is slightly disappointed about. She's not sure why, but she is, and maybe that's why she doesn't really look at her food before grabbing at it.

But someone else had been looking at, and said person hand grabbed the burger from her grip and dropped it back on the table.

Spencer stared dumbly at the boy in front of her.

"Pietro!" Wanda scolded, but Pietro didn't look over - but instead, pulled off the top bun of Spencer's burger.

"It's meat," he told her, or maybe he just said it for himself, but Spencer is still struggling to react. She pulled her hands away from the table nervously.

Wanda called over a server, asked her to fix the meal, but the table still remained relatively quiet.

"Thank you," Spencer said finally, meeting Pietro's eyes. He looked confused. "For that... um, I-"

"If you puke, Stark won't let me take his car," Pietro brushed off, glancing down at the menu. "Do you think we should order more, Wanda?"

Spencer blinked. Then she just focused back outside the window.

WHEN THEY PICK PETER UP AT 6, HE'S BEET RED.

Spencer knows that he wants anything but to be made fun of right now, and she could tell that he was elated about something.

But it was awkward sitting in silence, so Spencer offered him fries in the back seat. He thanked Spencer profusely and started to eat them at a rapid rate.

"So where'd you guys go?" Peter asked with a mouth full of fries. "Thanks again, for driving me," he added, craning his neck to look in the rearview mirror to meet eyes with Pietro. "I know it's out of the way, but-"

"Don't worry, Peter," Wanda told him calmly, and Pietro made a look to tell him to worry about it.

"Hey, Peter," Spencer called softly, and the boy turned over to her. Even though the whole car was listening, Spencer asked, "Do you know when Bruce and everyone are going to be back?"

"Oh! Um, I think they said Thursday?" Peter guessed. "It's not supposed to be a long mission, and - sorry, do you have anything else to eat? I'm starving. MJ - I mean, May-"

"Here," Wanda said, passing Peter back her leftovers. Peter thanked her profusely.
