"you talk in your sleep, you know?"

-

it was early in the morning. i had beat the sun in rising which only made the cool, fall air more apparent.

sore from the demanding practice mistress kayama had put us through, i winced getting out of my car, thighs aching in protest. mina had been craving pie for some reason and ordered me out of the house to get some for her.

the jingle of the bell above my head, like always, announced my arrival to the little coffee shop i was becoming well acquainted with. someone new was at the cash register.

an attractive boy with pure white hair was flicking through a baking magazine disinterestedly.

"hello," i greeted, warily.

"good morning, it's quite early. how can i help you?"

"right, can i have two slices of your lemon meringue pie to go? and a blueberry muffin for here?" as i ordered, i peered at the boy's name tag.

touya

hmm, the name sounded familiar but the boy's looks were harder to place.

"pie will be ready in about 10 minutes, is that fine?" i nodded, paid the boy and he wrapped the muffin for me.

"thank you," i took the baked confection and wandered off to a booth.

i pulled my phone out to scroll through social media while breaking off a piece of the muffin. a notification to a group chat i was in with mina and the boys popped up, denki had sent a link to some random youtube video. swiping the notification away, i closed my phone and placed it on the table.

a coffee cup was placed in front of me and was followed by a tired looking shinsou sitting across from me. i smiled softly, thinking back to the first time shinsou and i met up in the shop.

"good morning," he greeted, running a hand through his hair and making it messier than it already was.

i reached over to pat down some stray hairs before shinsou caught my hand. i felt heat rise to my cheeks as he pressed a quick kiss into my palm.

i pulled my hand back lightly, "you feeling okay?"

shinsou sighed quietly and took a moment before responding. "yeah, just tired."

he rested his chin on his hand, eyes drooping closed for a second.

"when was the last time you slept?"

he glanced to the side before glancing back at me. "i took a nap yesterday but i ended up pulling an all-nighter last night."

"is it getting bad again? your sleeping disorder?"

"nah, it's not that bad, i have it under control. for now."

i gnawed at my lip, unsure of what to say. collecting myself, i asked another question.

"have you been taking your medication?"

shinsou nodded.

"but hey," the boy leaned back in the booth, "don't worry your pretty little head about me, okay? i'll let you know if it gets bad and then we can do something about it together, sound good?"

"yeah, yes. that sounds good." i agreed, glad he felt comfortable enough coming to me with something so personal.

"good," he parroted back, looking smug.

"you think i'm pretty?"

his smile fumbled and it was his turn to blush. "i mean, well, i thought.. was it not obvious?"

i laughed in disbelief, "no way that made you flustered? do i just have to ask the great hitoshi shinsou what he thinks of me? is that it?"

"i have no idea what you're talking about."

"aww, shinsou. we're not done with this conversation, we'll pick it back up later."

the chime of a bell rang back at the cashier and both shinsou and i turned, touya had mina's pie wrapped up neatly in a bag.

"oh, wow, i forgot i was even here for that."

heading to collect my bag, i felt shinsou following closely behind. i thanked the boy at the register then made my way outside.

"so now what, pretty boy?"

shinsou made a choked noise before clearing his throat.

"come over to mine?"

-

the familiarity of shinsou's apartment welcomed me, despite the fact that i had only been there a handful of times.

shinsou pulled his hoodie over his head, chucking it onto his couch. "make yourself comfortable."

i nodded at shinsou's words and decided to settle my things on the coffee table in his living room. i had managed to swing by my dorm, to both drop off mina's pies and collect some stuff to do homework at shinsou's.

"here," the boy came back with two water bottles, handing one to me.

"thank you."

"so," shinsou uncapped his bottle, "what are we working on?"

"well," i tucked my legs under me as i sat on the couch, "i think i'm going to start a few assignments for my composition and history class."

"right, you could do that boring work or you could do something fun with me."

amused, i decided to entertain his suggestion. "depends on your definition of fun. convince me and i'll see."

-

"this is not fun at all," i grumbled, moving my little duck token past 'go' and waited for shinsou to hand me my two hundred dollars.

"whaaat?" shinsou said in disbelief, "we're having so much fun. would you really want to do boring assignments for school?"

"i'm starting to consider it," i muttered under my breath.

"what was that?" shinsou asked, two beige pieces of paper in hand.

"nothing, give me my money." i said, hand out, expecting the currency.

a mischievous glint took to shinsou's eyes and a smirk pulled at his lips. "oh no, i think i'll wait for you to tell me what you said."

"or what?"

"we could do this the hard way or the easy way, y/n. i'm warning you right now."

"shinsou, just give me my money." i reached over to try to pull the paper out of his hands.

"i'll give you three hundred dollars if you tell me what you said." he held the hand with the money high in the air.

"that's not how monopoly works, shinsou. i can't believe you just bribed me. you're too corrupt to handle the bank, i'm putting you in jail." i moved shinsou's top hat token into the 'in jail' space and ignored the fact that that wasn't how monopoly worked either. i reached over to grab the tray with all the money and pulled it over to my side.

"you're just going to pocket all the money, don't act like you didn't pay less than you were supposed to for water works." shinsou tugged the tray back over to his side.

"if you saw me, why didn't you stop me? you're proving my point about you being biased."

shinsou gasped dramatically, "i can't believe you accused me of being biased. is this what we've come to?"

"you're such a drama queen," i rolled my eyes playfully at him. "hurry up and roll so i can beat you already."

"what?!" shinsou picked up the die, "i'm totally beating you right now."

"right, that's why you had to sell three properties already."

shinsou squinted at me, "harsh, l/n, harsh."

the boy shook his hands dramatically for a few seconds before blowing a kiss to his die and dropping them on the board.

doubles.

"let's go, baby!" shinsou celebrated by getting up and doing a little victory dance.

"i can't believe i like you," i sighed but watched him do his stupid dance.

"what was that? i couldn't hear you from down there in loser-ville."

"shinsou, i own more than half the board."

"for now, just for right now, l/n."

"alright, mr. corrupt banker, come roll again."

"hey, don't call me tha-" shinsou seemed to have miscalculated a lunge at me and ended up toppling our game board over.

the tray of money somehow ended up being launched into the air, making a mess of the floor with fake paper money. shinsou managed to catch himself above me, avoiding crushing me under his weight.

"welcome to loser-ville, nerd." i brushed a stray five hundred dollar bill out of his hair.

he stared down, and i stared up, with nowhere to go since he was caging me.

"shinsou?"

"can i.. can i kiss you?"

shinsou wasn't even looking at me but instead at my lips. he inched closer, eyes flickering to meet mine for a moment.

"y/n?"

a shiver ran down my spine before i nodded, giving the boy the permission he, for some reason, seeked.

kissing shinsou never got boring, he always offered something new. he always handled me like i was seconds away from breaking but kissed me like he wanted to be the one who broke me.

wandering hands pushed their way up my sweatshirt, not going far as if they were testing the waters.

the boy pulled away, breathing softly against my lips. "y/n.."

the whisper trailed off as shinsou rested his forehead against mine. the thin material of his t-shirt hung loose around his torso, riding up and exposing smooth skin. the warmth from his body, the warmth of his home, the warmth of his kiss, it was all the same yet surrounded me at different levels.

"are we," shinsou began but never continued, he busied himself with kissing me again.

he pulled back quicker this time, "i'm sorry we.. i shouldn't when you-"

"shinsou, what are you talking about?" i questioned.

the boy was mumbling to himself, he began to stand up, pulling away and off the floor.

"shinsou?"

he didn't seem to hear me.

"hitoshi."

that caught his attention.

"y/n-" he moved to cup my face, "-what are we? are we together? do you even want to be together?"

"y/n"

my eyes snapped open. i jolted up, taking in my surroundings.

i was still in shinsou's apartment but there was no monopoly money scattered on the floor and there was no muttering shinsou walking around. i figured i had just dozed off while working on my assignments after declining shinsou's unconvincing 'fun'.

"you talk in your sleep, you know?"

"jesus, you scared me."

shinsou was leaning in the doorway of the hallway.

"wait, were you just watching me sleep?" i turned to face him, raising an eyebrow up.

"no, i mean, i wasn't at first but-"

"that's very strange of you, shinsou." i laughed at him.

pushing off the frame, he sat down on the couch behind me, gesturing for me to join him. "you're not even going to ask what i heard you say?"

i plopped down on the couch, knees bumping against his. "i don't talk in my sleep, shinsou."

"no, no. you totally do! and you seemed to like the subject of your dream didn't you, y/n?"

i studied his face to see if he was being serious, gasping when i realized he was. "oh my god, what did i say?"

he threw his head back, laugh shaking his chest. he took a deep breath, "i'm not sure, tell me. what do you remember dreaming about?"

flashes of the monopoly game melting into heated kisses then into a confrontation splashed in the back of my head. i cleared my throat, "nothing. i don't really remember."

"you're a terrible liar, y/n."

i rolled my eyes at the boy, "whatever, hitoshi."

the sudden silence that began to grow was prominent, the weird tension building but no one made any moves to point out.

"ahem, maybe we should get something to eat. it's been like four hours since you ate at the shop."

taking the opportunity to change the topic, i sat up. "oh wow, it has. i think that just goes to show what a terrible host you are."

shinsou got off the couch and made his way to put his shoes on. "well, then i should definitely make it up to you. if you don't mind, i know a place we can go to eat. you up to it?"

i met his grin with one of my own, "of course i'm up for it, pretty boy. let's go."

a/n: just finished editing n i think i'm really happy w this chapter !!!!

but ! hopefully it's obvious that y/n is not ever really annoyed by shinsou,, i kept writing about y/n rolling her eyes but it's not because she's annoyed 🧍🏻‍♀️ so yeah.. besides that , it was actually rlly awkward?? to write the kissing thingy after the monopoly game, like i couldn't take myself seriously 😭.

also ! i think that's kind of another thing,, i'm not sure if i'm going to be writing more 'heated' scenes like that but if you horndogs would want to see more of that w the two ig it wouldn't hurt to practice !

(also pt. 2 ! i want to mention that the comments u guys leave r literally the best part about writing ! not to get sappy on y'all but i rlly do enjoying read them 😩 )

n e ways,, like always thank u sm for reading ! take care n stay safe sweethearts !! love u guys sm !! :)) <3

(haven't had a long a/n like this in a while 😓)
