"sero! hurry up! we're going to miss the movie!"

we were up on the fifth floor, banging on hanta's apartment door.

"i'm going! give me like three minutes!" he shouted through the door.

katsuki shoved his hands into his jacket's pockets and walked away, in usual katsuki fashion. the rest of us watched his figure go lean up against the elevator's doors.

"how much time do we have left until the movie starts?" mina kicks at the floor with her white sneakers.

"i think in ten minutes, but i say twenty-ish with previews." eijiro said, checking his phone.

"awww, i like watching the previews." denki slid down the wall.

"hantaaaa, hurrryyyyy." i hung on his door knob, whining.

hanta finally came out of his apartment, "yeah, yeah. let's go! but because you guys were rushing me, i'm not sharing my popcorn."

denki and mina slung themselves on his arms. "hanta, don't be like that."

he playfully pushed them off and headed towards the elevator, which katsuki was angrily pushing the button for. we all headed out of the dorms in a rush.

i didn't know what movie we were going to watch but the gang decided to go out once more before we all went our separate ways for the break. we all crammed into katsuki's car, with denki squeezed on the floor of the car.

-

we got to the theatre, bought the tickets for the movie and scurried inside. the others headed into the room where our movie was showing while katsuki, mina and i ordered snacks.

"i can help the next customer over here!" announced a soft voice, lithe hand in the air.

mina and i followed behind katsuki, only to bump into his back.

"what gives, kat-"

we peeked from behind the boy's back and saw a dual-toned boy at the register.

he was gorgeous and had pretty heterochromic eyes.

he quirked up an eyebrow. "what can i help you with?"

katsuki seemed to be in shock, but it was definitely better than him causing a scene.

i stepped in front of him and ordered what the others had asked for. katsuki was still standing there, quiet.

i didn't know what was up with him but i turned to ask for his card. "you said you were paying, give me your card?"

i stuck my hand out, expectant. he pulled his wallet out and dumped it into my hand, and walked away.

i handed the card to the boy. "what's his deal, mina?"

"i'll explain later." she took the card back from the boy. "thanks, shoto."

'shoto?'

oh my god, does everyone know each other here??

we took the snacks back to the rest of the gang. apparently they had gotten there in time for a few previews, much to denki's delight. katsuki was seated to the far right, quiet.

the boys caught us up to what we had missed, and soon we settled into the seats.

-

to think that a movie could make the katsuki bakugou cry was foolish and anyone would've laughed in your face, but in reality, this movie happened to do just that.

it was some sappy, generic rom-com but sure enough, it had done the unthinkable.

the whole squad had made fun of him on the way out of the theatre.

"oh my god, katsuki! i can't believe you like romance movies. i bet you like, like, romance novels or something." denki laughed, holding his stomach as he howled.

katsuki jumped, the tips of his ears painted pink now.

maybe it was the cold or embarrassment, but we all stepped out into the night, breaking the silence with our ruckus.

eijiro was about to add something before katsuki slapped his hand over his mouth. i threw my head to the side, laughter bubbling up my throat but immediately getting caught it in.

i saw a purple headed boy with his side towards the group, pushing a girl against the wall of the theatre.

hanta seemed to notice my gaze, lingering on the... on the couple.

shinso bent down to tuck her hair behind her ear, got to close to her mouth and-

i snapped my eyes back to the group, not wanting to see that unfold.

did he have a girlfriend i didn't know about?

my stomach churned but i forced a smile back on. hanta slipped his hand into mine, interlacing our fingers and gave them a reassuring squeeze. i turned up to face him, smiling genuinely now.

"let's go eat, losers!" denki shouted into the air, both hands in the air.

mina smacked the back of his head but giggled at his antics.

"so, where are we going?" i asked. the group fell into a discussion, quickly listing off all the places that were open this late at night.

-

we decided on a some mexican food shop, close by the theatre and open to house us from the cold.

we all ordered and ate our food, still energetic given how late it was.

mina and denki were busying themselves with trying to fling fries into hanta's mouth, making a game out of it, and had me keeping scores for them.

the others talked about the movie, arguing about who was better for the main character.

"no, the guy who was nicer was better. he was quiet but he was kind and he wasn't hurting anyone." katsuki argued.

eijiro huffed, "no way! the other guy loved the main character! even though he had hurt them in the past, he had learned from his mistakes and bettered himself to feel more loveable. true love doesn't change you, it makes you want to change yourself. that's what makes it so manly."

with a click of his tongue, katsuki rebutted. "but what's to say he won't hurt them again? the safest option would be to choose someone who you know won't hurt you."

"but what's to say the 'nice' guy won't get them? maybe they're the real ticking time bomb and will bring the main character down?" i chimed in as mina managed to get another fry into hanta's mouth.

"and how would you know that, fuckface?" katsuki got up, barking at me.

"katsuki, you're taking this a little too seriously," i explained, "the unpredictableness of life is what adds to the thrill of love. you either love or hate the situation you're in, you find comfort in it. some relationships aren't the best, but you can learn from them."

the fuming blond sat back down and processed what i had said.

"even when you're hurt, if you love, you love. and nothing can change that." i ended, feeling the words resonate for some reason.

"ah ha!" mina shouted, raising her hands over her head in victory. and deservedly because the score was nine for mina and seven for denki.

denki ate a sad, loser fry and slumped into his seat. "no fair! i think you cheated."

"don't be mad because i'm good." mina boasted.

a little while after that, we cleaned up after ourselves and thanked the staff for the food. we wandered back into the darkness of the night, cold biting at our faces.

we all made our way home, to get ready to settle in for the night. the thought of being in my warm bed comforting me.

but once i was actually home, away from the group's energy, i was left to think by myself.

there was no other explanation to being alone, on a saturday night or sunday morning, depending on how you look at the time. no less with a girl you were about to kiss.

they were definitely on a date of sorts, the thought playing with my heart, weirdly enough.

but it wasn't my problem nor something i could worry about. shinso and i were fr-

no, not even friends.

we were acquaintances of sorts, only playing nice for our project... probably.

there was no reason for me to be caught up over who shinso kissed or didn't kiss. he was free to do what he wanted.

...

and with that logic, there was also no reason to head home with shinso.

back to the place where it had all started.

yeah, who knows what things could possibly happen there.
