๐Ÿ’Œ | apartment hunting...!

I bury my face in my hands. I'm such an idiot. I know Bronwyn's parents don't like me but I constantly go over to their house. Bronwyn must be in huge trouble, and it's all because of me.

I faintly hear the doorbell ring, followed my my father yelling. "Could ya get it son?" My dad calls.

I snort. It's not that sort of thing where I can wait him out. My dad never moves. I heave a sigh and walk to the door. I fling it open.

"Bronwyn...?"

Tears are streaming down her face and she has two suitcases with her. She drops them and collapses into my arms. I stroke her hair.

"It's okay... don't cry." I'm usually really awkward around crying people, but it seems with Bronwyn, I'm fine. It feels... natural. I usher her into the house and pick up her suitcases. She stands in the middle of the living room wiping her face.

"Heya darlin'. Don't cry."

"H-hi Mr.Macauley." She stutters.

My dad has been better ever since he got out of rehab. But it all went to hell when he started drinking again. All that time at rehab and all we get out of it was a few months.

I lead Bronwyn to my room and shut the door. She pouts on my bed. God. She still looks amazing. I sit next to her, arm around her shoulder.

"Hey, tell me what's wrong."

"After you left I got into an argument with my mom. She says I'm too young to be sleeping with people. She doesn't think I should be with you, so I told her I'm moving out." Shock pulses through my body.

"You're living... here?" She shakes her head and looks up at me, eyes glassy.

"I was hoping you'd be interested in... in moving in with me."

My mouth opens. Living away from this house? With Bronwyn?

"Bronwyn... you're offering me my dream." I say, grinning.

"Really? You're not saying that because you think you can't turn me down? Because of course you can-"

"I want to move in with you." I say firmly. But there's a voice in my head. I've heard it ever since I first kissed Bronwyn. You're gonna screw this up... you've never been in a serious relationship, this is all new territory... don't make stupid decisions...

"I just... I have money issues. As you know."

She nods."I have that sorted, Nate. I've got my own savings in my bank account, enough for a small, cozy apartment."

My eyes widen. "I-I can't just let you pay for everything!"

"It's fine, Nate! You'll get a job eventually that'll pay for our food, electricity etc..." Bronwyn says, grinning.

I nod slowly."A job..."

She laughs and straddles my lap, bringing her lips to my ear. "And I don't mean dealing drugs."

"Hot." I say, meaning it as a joke. My voice comes out harsher, like a growl. That does it for her. She kisses me, as if she hadn't kissed me in so long.

โ the next morning...! แต•ฬˆ

"Good morning Nate!" Bronwyn says cheerfully. She's sitting at the table... with my dad? He's shaved, and smells decent. He's drinking a cup of coffee, and it seems I interrupted a conversation.

"Uh, good morning Bronwyn. Morning... dad." I walk over to Bronwyn and give her a light kiss on the cheek. I pull up a chair next to her.

"So, dad. You're looking well."

"Bronwyn talked to me a little. Amazing girl you've got here." Bronwyn blushes, "She cleaned up around here, then encouraged me to get cleaned up. I'm sorry son, I've been a terrible father. I don't know what came over me..."

Only then did I notice that the couch was fixed up, there weren't empty beer bottles on the table or floor, the TV was off, there were no dishes in the sink and the kitchen was moderately clean.

"Bronwyn... you didn't have to do all this..."

"Your dad helped." She says proudly while my dad nods enthusiastically.

Bronwyn passes me a plate of bacon and eggs. I nod at her in thanks. She pushes a MacBook towards me.

"Here, I've starred some good appartments. Not too expensive, not too big, not too small and cozy."

I look through the apartments. I feel terrible. Bronwyn and my dad were doing all this while I slept. Plus, we went to bed extra early. Well, if you count making out for an hour going to bed early.

"Wow, Bronwyn. This all looks... great. I like this one." I say pointing to the second one on the list.

She beams. "That's the one I like too!"

Getting out her phone, she adjusts her glasses and squints at the number. She inputs the number and lets it dial. Standing up, she walks away to have the conversation in peace.

My dad watches Bronwyn, then smiles at me. I find myself smiling back.
