๐Ÿ’Œ | the bayview four...!

As we, the "Bayview Four", walked towards the front desk to collect our tickets, we got a few stares. I frown. It had been years since the death of Simon Kelleher, yet people were still staring. After the tragic news that his death was a suicide was released, rumours and whispers spread like wildfire.

I nudge Addy, suddenly feeling self-conscious. "Hey, Addy... why're people staring? I thought they stopped ages ago."

"Oh, Bronwyn." Addy laughs. "First of all, look at who's doing most of the staring."

I follow her gaze over to a group of young teenage girls. "Oh."

"Now look who they're staring at."

I trace the girl's dreamy gazes... to Nate and Cooper. Of course.

"See? They're not staring because we were involved in a suicide. They're staring because Nate and Cooper are almost impossible to tear their eyes away from. But, you would know." Addy points out matter-of-factly.

"Huh?" I ask, my gaze fixed on the broad shoulders of Nate.

"See? You didn't even hear what I said."

I glance at her. "Oh sorry. I spaced out."

"Right~ Your "spacing out" didn't have to do with a certain someone?"

"I told you I'm over him." I hiss defensively.

Addy snorts. "Girl, you're all over him."

I give Addy a weird look. She tilts her head, then frowns, pouting. "You're right. I'll never be able to pull off 'girl'."

I chuckle slightly at her statement then sigh. No point arguing, I realise. She's right.

Nate and Cooper are engaged in so weird conversation about a game, so I don't try to talk to them. Nate rakes a hand through his hair in frustration, and the movement forces my eyes to follow his arm. Which is where they stay, until Addy snaps me to my senses.

"Bronwyn! Stop staring at his arm."

I blush, glaring at Addy. Nate glances back at me, giving me the famous Nate Macauley grin. I give a small smile back.

Rolling her eyes, Addy twirls her hair around her dainty index finger. "I don't get what's up with you two. You're so obviously in love."

"We broke up because we wouldn't stop arguing. You know that better than anyone, Addy."

Our conversation comes to a halt as the boys tell us to wait while they buy the tickets. I'm tempted to go after them, because the thought of Nate and Cooper picking what movie we would watch sends shudders down my back.

Before I can follow them, Addy slumps her hands down at her side. "My mother's being annoying again." She scrolls through a couple of notifications on her phone.

"Again?"

"Haven't I been telling you? She's constantly worried about me. It took me ages of begging for her to let me come to watch a movie."

I raise my eyebrows slightly. "Seriously? She's gotten so uptight... is it because of..." I glance around, then whisper his name. "Simon?"

"God, Bronwyn! He's not Voldemort. Just say his name normally. But yeah. It's because of Simon. She doesn't like that I was caught up in what was a murder case at first."

I grin, nudging Addy slightly. "Hey, at least she's worried about you!"

"Are you still in disgrace because of the whole... y'know. Cheating thing?" She whispers the last part, and I snort.

"God, Addy! It's not Voldemort. Just say it normally." I mock Addy's earlier statement.

Addy shoves me, laughing playfully.

I laugh along with her, but my laughter slowly dies down when I glance at Nate, and I see him watching me. He lips curve slightly into a smile, and I lower my gaze, my face suddenly hot.

Addy's right. I'm not over Nate, and I never will be.
