CHAPTER SIX

"who's going to get her?" john b asked, parking on the street outside of the thornton's home.

"not it" pope said, pressing his finger on his nose

"JJ can do it since he likes her" kie winked as she teased him.

"shut up kiara" he groaned

"go on lover boy" pope shooed the boy as he climbed out of the van, sneaking up the roof to her window.

"man it must be good to be a kook" john b said, admiring the house that they parked outside of as he watched his bestfriend sneak in the girls window.

"i never thought JJ would be the one to fall for a kook" pope scoffed

"i mean she's hot as hell, can't blame him" john b shrugged

"yeah your right...and she hangs out with us? that's a bonus" pope said, hand shaking the boy.

"would you two shut up" kiara groaned

the blonde girl lay alone in her room, not spoken a word all night to her family from when she went off at them.

it was a lot later now, she was watching Netflix in her room, thank god for generators.

she heard a knock at her window, jumping lightly from fright. she slowly got up to be faced with JJ on the other side of the glass as she slowly pulled up the window.

"hola amigo" he smiled, climbing in the window, standing in front of her.

"hi? what are you doing here?" she asked confusedly.

"get changed, we've got another dora explorer mission to go on" JJ smiled as he sat next to the dog that lay on her bed.

"changed into what exactly?" she asked, turning on her closet light as he followed her to the closet.

"these?" he smirked, pulling out a lingerie set from a drawer.

"JJ, seriously?" she smacked his hand making him drop it.

"mmh-hmm" he smiled cheesily

"i'm serious, JJ. what kind of illegal shit are we doing tonight?" she asked

"so am i" he said as he picked it up.

"stop!" she whisper shouted, putting it away and smacking him again.

"fine. we're going to a cemetery so i don't know, something comfortable?" he suggested.

"a cemetery at night?! you realise that's how horror movies start right" she groaned as she grabbed a t-shirt and shorts since it was still hot outside even though it was night.

"and this is how other movies start....my kinda movies" he winked, picking up the lacey panties again.

"ok actually gonna kick you in the head in a minute, JJ" she groaned.

"sorry" he whined

"avani?" she heard her moms voice as she knocked on her bedroom door.

"shit...stay in here and be quiet, okay" she said, closing the door as he hid in the closet.

"yeah?" she asked as she opened the door.

"i just wanted to say goodnight. who were you talking too?" she asked

"oh, ugh i was on facetime with kamri but she hung up." she lied

"okay...i also just wanted to say i'm really sorry, baby. for everything" she sighed

"what do you mean?" she asked

"for making you feel trapped, for being left in toppers shadow, everything! i feel horrible knowing you feel this way" her mom said

"it's okay mom" she lied

"no it's not" she shook her head, bringing her daughter into a hug.

"can we y'all about this in the morning? i'm kinda tired and i'm sore" she said, motioning to her stitches

"yeah of course, i love you avani" she said pulling away from the hug.

"i love you too, mom" she smiled, closing the door after her.

"fuck" she grunted, leaning against the door as she cried.

she heard the closet door open, being faced with jj as she quickly wiped her tears.

"you okay?" he whispered, seeing her nod her head saying 'i'm fine'

he pulled her into a hug, then let her finally get changed and they made their way back to the van.

"jeez, JJ! we told you to go get her, not fuck her!" john b chuckled as they climbed in the van.

"what- we didn't!" JJ groaned

"well what took you so long?" kie asked

"nothing!" JJ said

"my mom came in and JJ was being an idiot in my closet" avani giggled.

"your mom caught you guys?" john b laughed

"no it was two different situations" she shrugged

"JJ, stop barking at the snakes! you're gonna wake the dead!" avani whisper yelled, grabbing the boys arm pulling him back.

"what? snakes are afraid of dogs, everybody knows that?!" he shrugged.

"you are so dumb, oh my god" she scoffed

"i am not dumb!" he whined

"yes you are! you bark at snakes? i've never heard of that" she shook her head

"well who's the dumb one now!" he whined

"not me!" she said, smacking him, bursting out in laughter at their stupid argument, him following.

"hey mom and dad stop arguing for a sec, would you?" pope said, nodding his head to kie who explained how she could fit through the hole if the boys helped her.

"no no no, you think your gonna fit through there?" john b said

"look this is about your dad, okay? you deserve to know the truth" kie sighed

"help me with this, would you?" she asked as she pulled away the vines from the hole.

avani stood back as they boosted her through, JJ standing back with her as they waited.

"you find the gold?" he guessed

"oh my god" they heard kies voice, then saw her hand poke through the hole with an envelope

"woah that looks helpful" avani sighed as they helped her back through

"holy shit.... it's from my dad" john b said, avani raising her eyebrows.

"guys, uh, code red! square groupers! it's the guys that robbed your house" JJ said, rushing everyone to hide, snaking his arm around avanis waist to make sure she was okay.

"hiding here? there gonna find us guys, i'm out" avani whispered as she got up to run, only to be pulled back by JJs hand gripping hers.

"you wanna get shot again?" he grunted, making her glare at him.

"she's right, i'm out" kie said, running back to the van, everyone following her quickly

"guys! i'm stuck! i'm stuck!" pope whined as he got his shorts caught on the gate.

"pope don't move, okay!" JJ said, aiming his gun at who knows what.

"no! no guns!" avani said as she snatched it off him, praying it wouldn't accidentally fire as she did so.

"hey!" he whined

"come on, man!" kie said, helping him down, his shorts ripping off in the process.

"it's a lil tootsie roll!" JJ laughed as they ran back to the twinkie.

"gimme my gun" JJ whined, turning back to avani who sat behind him as john b took off in the van.

she rolled her eyes, handing it back to him.

"thank you, mamas" he said, stashing in the compartment in the front seat.
