The next morning all members of council sat at the council table. Elaena and Jacaerys stood, watching and listening intently behind them.

They all turned as they heard footsteps. Princess Rhaenys walked in "Still no sightings. No men. No horses, no ships, no dragons" she said, taking off her gloves and standing beside Rhaenyra.

"Good. Then we must seize the hour and act before our enemy does. They have penetrated out castle walls and now the river lands are aflame after the battle of the burning mill. How fares prince Daemon with our army?" A man said.

Elaena looked down, buting her lip slightly. There was now a tension in the air. Daemon had taken off after his argument with Rhaenyra and had not been heard of since.

"There has been no word from Prince Daemon, your grace" The maester said to Rhaenyra who sat at the head of the table.

"Then we must press what advantage we do have" a man said confidently.

"And what is that?" Elaena asked annoyed at the man who never seemed to keep his mouth shut.

"Dragons. Send them all out. Start turning green strongholds to our cause, and burn those who resist." He said making Elaena roll her eyes.

"I will not put my dragon in danger until it is very necessary" she said squinting her eyes at the man.

"Then why do you even have one?! I think you-" the man shot back but was cut off by the girls husband.

"I suggest you shut your mouth, my lord" he said in a warning tone with a glare on his face.

"I- my apologies, my princess" he said looking at his hands in fear.

"My daughter is right. If dragons begin fighting dragons we invite our own destruction. Fear of it is in itself a weapon. The greens will make the same calculation" Rhaenyra said.

The man who had disrespect Elaena not one minute ago, decided he would disrespect the queen too. He laughed loudly at her, making Elaena glare at him. How dare he?

"The value of a sword is not within its scabbard" he said staring at Rhaenyra.

"We will secure victory with armies, not with dragons alone. The greens understand that" Rhaenyra said:

Elaena smiled as she saw Rhaenys stare at the man, making him look at away.

"The vale and the north will send men. We must give Daemon time" Rhaenyra said sighing.

"Your grace, you have witnessed firsthand just how vulnerable you are" one of the lords began.

Elaenas eyes widened at the man's choice of words "Vulnerable?" She asked sharing an annoyed look with Jacaerys on her right.

The man ignored her and continued "Prince Daemon is abroad, and Aegons factions are enraged at the death of his son. You have never been so exposed!" The man said making Elaena scoff in disbelief.

"Perhaps it is time for you to think about secreting yourself somewhere safe, you and the princess Elaena" the man said.

Jacaerys brows furred at this "My wife will not be sent anywhere. She is a great asset to this council, more than you" he said sentinel the man a warning look.

"I simply suggest, while we remain here, as a source of the distraction for the enemy, you will be safe." The man said.

"You propose to conduct the war in my absence?" Rhaenyra said an offended look on her face.

"It would merely be a precaution" one of the men added.

"It would be treason" Elaena yelled, making them all shut up.

"You are fortunate you took it no further" Rhaenyra said with an angry look. She stood, making them copy her, as she walked out of the room.

Rhaenys walked up and said "This council would do well to remember that their queen wears the crown of my grandsire, Jahaerys the conciliator. A prudent ruler, the wisest of Targaryen kings, who's reign outlasted every other... even Aegon the conquerors." She sent them a warning look before leaving the room as well.

Elaena smiled at her, turning to her husband and whispering to him "I love her" with a proud smile.

He laughed softly at her, hugging her close to him as he did.

Later that day, Rhaenyra stood outside the Dragonstone walls with Elaena, Jacaerys and Baela. They were bidding Rhaena goodbye as well as preparing the dragons for travel.

"I cannot spare a fighting dragon, but I send what  I can. Stormcloud and Tyraxes are small, but they will grow." Rhaenyra said.

"It is for you to remind Lady Jeyne of her pledge and persuade her of the urgency of our need." Rhaenyra said to her, before walking past her, Jacaerys followed her as well.

Baela and Elaena stood beside Rhaena now "Go safely, sister" Baela smiled.

"I will be safe enough. Far away from any danger, with only babes to nursemaid." Rhaena said with annoyance dripping off of het words.

"You do a great service, and may yet find yourself glad to be of harms way" Baela said trying to make her sister feel better.

"Do not coddle me, Baela. Grant me at least that dignity" Rhaena said, looking away.

"I meant no insult. We each do what we can. And here, I think, is some consolation" Baela said taking her sisters arm and leading her up to the rest of them.

"Tyraxes and stormcloud are young and vulnerable. But should all come to ruin here...you will bear our hope for the future" Rhaenyra said.

Rhaena eyes widened in disbelief "Your grace.."

"Mummy?" Joffrey muttered leaning into Rhaenyras side.

Rhaenyra sighed down at her son, leaning down to kiss his head, doing the same for her other two children, as a goodbye.

Jacaerys leant down and hugged Joffrey tight to him, saying goodbye.

When he pulled away, Joffreys little head turned to Elaena. He gripped her dress tightly and began to cry. He saw her as a mother figure. Although Rhaenyra loved her children dearly, she had a lot of her plate, and depended on Elaena to be there for them as well, and so she practically raised the young boy as well.

She sighed, picking the young boy up, resting him on her hip. She sensed he was overwhelmed as so walked away slightly from the other group.

"What's the matter joff?"she asked him softly, looking down at him.

"I don't want to go! I want to stay with you!" He cried, his tears landing on her shoulder.

"You're only going away for a little while. I promise I'll still be here when you get back, ok?" She said, making him nod and lean his head on her side.

"Besides, you will have Aegon and Viserys with you, and your going to be a brave boy arent you?" She said with a hopeful smile, making him smile back and nod at her words.

"Now, I will send letters by raven, and you must tell someone if you want to send one to me. You better have lots of stories about your adventures when you get back!" She told him.

"I will!" He smiled, as she placed him down on the ground, and hugged him one last time.

"Bye bye" she said.

"Bye bye" he replied as she kissed his forehead.

She then walked up to viserys and Aegon, giving them a goodbye kiss too, before walking up to Rhaena and giving her a hug.

"Don't ever feel like you aren't important here. You will always be important to me, remember that" she whispered to her, making her cousin smile at her.

She gave her one last smile before turning to Jacaerys, sighing as she watched her brothers leaves.

Her eyes filled with tears as she watched them go. She had never gone long without them, and she loved them dearly. Jacaerys noticed her sadness and put his arm on her back.

"It's for the better" he whispered to her kissing her temple as they walked back into the castle. Rhaenyra watched in worry as her children and Rhaena left. The last time her child left, he never returned.

_______________

The next day it was Elaenas turn to ride the area. Each of them did it, to see if any of the greens were nearby, and how many there were.

Her large dark dragon, soared the skies. She looked down over the large green fields beneath her, scanning over them to see if she could spit anyone.

When she slightly lowered, she saw a group of men riding away on horses, they had spotted her before she had spotted them.

She quickly spotted Ser Criston. She had grown up with him and knew him from a mile away. She ordered pearl to dive down lower. Even if she could not get them, she could at least scare them. "Andere pearl, Andere!" She yelled.

She continued to lower down and chase the yelling group of men on their horses, until they made it to the trees, where she couldn't spot them.

Although she didn't see them, she decided to scare them a little more "Dracarys!" She yelled.

Pearl complied and lit parts of the woods on fire. She heard them yell in shock, and although she knew she didn't get them, she had for sure scared them.

"Sศณz hฤedar" she said, petting the scales on her dragon as she smiled down at her (Good girl)

When she had eventually made it back to Dragonstone, she was a mess. She had black smoke on her clothes, the aftermath of the fire her dragon had lit. She of course, remained unharmed.

When she walked into the councilroom she heard  many lords and maesters speaking, and then her husband.

"I want to ride out and see if I can find her" she heard her husband tell her mother, making her smile.

"There will be no need, Jace" she said with a smile.

All heads turned to see who had spoke, and she tensed up, seeing people visibly relax at the sight of her. Oh gods...how long had she been gone?

"Elaena" he sighed, quickly making his way over to her, hugging her tightly to him when he did. He pulled away, rubbing the black dirt off her face, inspecting her for injuries.

"Where were you?!" He yelled, still scanning her body for blood, and relaxing when he didn't see any.

"I was scouting the area? It was my day" She said still slightly confused by his concern.

"What, for five hours?!" He asked her furiously.

Oh. She supposed she had gone a little too far. "I'm sorry, I lost track of time" she sighed.

"What happened to you?" He asked worriedly, looking down at her state.

She took his arm and walked over to the council table, to stand beside her mother who gave her a worried glance.

"Gods Elaena you were gone so long! I was staring to think the worst" she said pulling her daughter into a hug.

"I'm fine mother, I just rode too far. I found a group of green soldier. It was Ser Criston with some half dozen other. I'm sure of it" she said as Jacaerys held her side as she spoke.

"Perhaps it was a scout party for a greater army" she added looking across the table to Rhaenys.

"The ravens confirm it, your grace. Lord Farring has reported a larger force, moving northeast towards Rosby" The maester said.

"Could you be certain it was Cole from such a great height?" Rhaenyra asked her daughter.

"It was not such a great height, you're grace" Elaena said looking down and swallowing.

Rhaenyra turned to her daughter with a questioning look, wanting her to continue.

"Well...you said not to engage, and I didn't, technically" she said, looking at the table.

"Technically?" Rhaenyra asked with an annoyed expression.

"I simply scared them a little" Elaena said trying to play it cool.

"Scared them? Exactly how did you scare them Elanea? Might it have something to do with the smoke all over you?" Rhaenyra asked.

"It was a little warning is all, Pearls a good dragon" she said.

"Tis not your dragon, I worry about" Rhaenyra said, eventually turning back to the table.

"Your grace, we commend the princess, for her sharp eyes, but we can tarry no longer. The time for action is surely now" One of the lords said.

"Your grace I must agree, and request your permission to return for rooks rest and fortify my lands" another man spoke up making Rhaenyra nod at his request.

"I shouldn't fret, Lord Simon. They'll be making for Harrenhal." A man said.

"Tis prince Daemon who ought to worry." A lord said.

"Prince Daemon us caraxes." Rhaenyra siad annoyed.

"Cole will look to increase his numbers, and he may call upon a dragon of his own" lord celtigar spoke.

"This is why you must act now, your grace. Loose the dragons, rout Cole out and burn him." A lord spoke.

Silence entered the room, Jacaerys held onto his wife slightly tighter, clearly angry by how the men were treating his mother. Rhaenyra looked at Rhaenys before nodding and saying "I have heard your arguments, and will consider them." She said, before walking out of the room.

Elaena looked up and shared a worried look with Jacaerys. Their mother was overwhelmed by all of it, and she would crack sooner or later.

Elaena scoffed at the men before her "How dare you treat your queen this way. She leads. Not you, her." She spat.

"My princess, mayhaps you should clean yourself up. Tis no way a princess should look" One of the lords said.

Elaena smiled madly, before laughing "You care more of my state then your queen?" She laughed, before staring at them and walking out of the room.

"My lord, I suggest you be careful of your words towards my wife" Jacaerys said to the man.

"Of course my pri-"

"If you want to keep your head." Jacaerys finished making the man visibly tense up in fear. Jacaerys sent him one last glare before leaving too.

"My apologies" The man said but Jacaerys had already left.

Rhaenys laughed softly before sighing "You men underestimate how much the prince cares for his wife. I would be careful, if I were you" she said before leaving as well.
