54 HOURS EARLIER...
Camilla's breathing is heavy as she practically paces a hole in Alaric's office floor.
"We have to do something Ric. We have to do something now!" She pulls her hair in frustration, but deep down she was petrified.
Was she leaving her babies to deal with the merge all alone?
"I don't think there's anything we can do right now Cami." Alaric sighs as he rubs the prominent stress lines on his forehead. "We've been trying to find a solution to the merge for over sixteen years, caroline has traveled to almost every country and coven she could find and has come up empty handed."
"I-I can't die knowing that I'm leaving them to suffer." She crosses her arms and turns her body away from him to avoid his sympathetic expression.
"I don't like it anymore than you do Cami." He leans forward to rest a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I mean we have possibly the most powerful witches alive right here in this building doing their best and they can't find anything. What I can promise you is that they will have all of us trying to prevent it from happening until the very day. God forbid that day ever comes... we'll be there for that as well."
Camilla wipes a small tear that had fallen down her cheek and shakes her head. "I just feel like I'm letting them down."
Alaric forces her body to face him by gently turning her shoulders. "You are the best mother they could've ever hoped for. I loved Jo so much Cami but you are a phenomenal mother and I wouldn't have had anything happen any other way. The circumstances we are in aren't ideal in anyway but we live in Mystic Falls, they never are." He tries to lighten the mood but only receives a small and silent chuckle.
As she tries to gather herself there's a knock on the office door and they both watch as Klaus's head peeps in. "I've been told I was needed."
Alaric nods his head muttering a small, 'I'll give you some privacy.'
Klaus' face drops when he notices his beautiful girlfriends face flushed with sadness. Quickly speeding up the four steps it would've taken him he brings her into a tight embrace. "What's wrong, love?"
"We were just talking about the merge." She lowly whispers, Klaus cuddles into her more once she lays her head back into his chest.
He slowly nods his head in understanding. "They'll be okay."
Looking up he almost cries at the innocent pout adoring her face. "But how do you know?"
"Freya is a thousand year old witch, old school but clever. Davina is a harvest witch who has survived the French quarter witches whom I must say, are quite dangerous. Bonnie Bennett is well, a Bennett. And I hope you haven't forgotten we have two tribrid children with power they haven't even begun to unleash." He finishes with a small smile. "Trust me when I say that when your family is in danger you grow about three feet taller with a lot more willpower."
Camilla giggles into his neck making his smile widen. He rocks them back and forth as they spend the next few minutes in peace. She had felt a huge weight come off of her shoulders after his reassurance.
A ripped up piece of paper appears above them and Klaus is quick to snatch it with his free hand before it could fall to the ground.
'Alaric thought you should know the kids have just arrived.
-Freya'
"It's time to tell them isn't it?" Camilla sadly mumbles.
"I'm afraid so, love." Klaus exhales.
Lizzie, Josie, Hope, Alec, and Jace all walk in through the main entrance of the boarding school with new matching bracelets and happy smiles.
They had spent the day walking around town finding new food and little boutiques that had never been to before. They had gotten the bracelets to symbolize their vow.
The kids had all decided to make a vow much like one of their father figures and his siblings did.
"Till the end." They had all promised each other.
"Did you see that guy after he asked for your number?" Lizzie loudly giggles at the memory.
"Yeah only because Jace and Alec were standing behind me like they were my body guards." Hope grumbles but they could all see she was holding back a smile.
"He was like four years older than you!" Jace defends.
"Who even names their kid Roman?" Alec's brows scrunch up in distaste.
"Probably some political leader that is trying to wipe out the whole population." Jace nudges Alec with a smirk.
Hope begins to playfully scold them as Josie and Lizzie sit back and laugh every now and then.
"Children." Klaus calls. They all look up to his figure with smiles but it all slowly fades as they see his serious and glum expression.
"Dad, is everything okay?" Hope steps forward with a frown.
"Your mother and I have something we need to tell you." He hesitantly admits.
"Okay... Well where's mom?" Josie looks around him expecting her to pop out.
"Yeah now that you guys are attached at the hip shouldn't she be like," Lizzie points at his side. "Right there. Not that I don't love you two but it's kind of gross."
"Not the time Lizzie." Alec mumbles under his breath as he watches Niks face not once show any sign of amusement.
"Follow me." Klaus nudges his head towards the hallway. All of the kids oblige, sending each other worried looks.
They end up at their mothers, now fathers bedroom door and hold their breathes once he opens it.
Klaus immediately takes a seat on the edge of the bed near Camilla and intertwines their hands.
"Can someone tell us what's going on?" Jace looks between his two parents confused.
Clearing her throat she gestures towards the large couch that had decorated her room nicely, it also was put in after her kids grew older and the bed was no longer comfortable for four growing kids and a small adult. Although they never ended up using it. "Why don't you guys sit down."
Once they do it's Josie that speaks up. "Mom what's going on?"
Taking a deep breath Camilla glances at Klaus and he sends her an encouraging nod. "I didn't tell you guys the whole truth when I came back to life..."
And suddenly all of the kids find themselves holding onto each other's hands for dear life as they're told the devastating news. Each had tears falling down their cheeks and their knuckles were white from the tension in their muscles.
"You're dying again?" Josie croaks out.
"You want to die with her?" Hope stares at her father in heartbreak.
"I-I don't think I can live with out her again Hope." He sadly admits. Hope looks away refusing to make eye contact with him.
"The circumstances are difficult, and I don't want you all wasting your time looking for another way." Camilla honestly says. "There is no other way babies."
"Why do you have to die? Why does it have to be you?" Alec speaks up for the first time since entering the room.
His face is blank but everyone can tell he was trying to hold his emotions in.
"It's my destiny you could say." She softly informs them, trying to be as fragile about the situation as possible. "When I died I wasn't taken to peace or wherever supernaturals with unfinished business go to. I was in an ancestral realm where I spoke to grams, you'd know her by Sheila Bennett."
"Aunt Bonnies grandma?" Lizzie questions with a confused frown.
Camilla nods her head. "Yeah, Bonnies grams." She confirms. "She told me about my fate and she told me what was going to happen to me."
"How long do you have?" Hope questions sadly.
Klaus squeezes her hand in comfort when he notices her beginning to fidget. "I'm not sure, the witches have recently not communicated with me like they should have. Somethings interfering."
"What if it means you get to live?" Lizzie naively questions with Hope lacing her voice.
Cami's eyes softened even more if it's possible at how truly young the girl looked in this moment. Gently shaking her hand again she replies, "I don't think so Lizzie."
All of the kids stare down at the floor not knowing what to say or do to make any of this better. Camilla slowly gets up from the bed and squats in front of them. "That just means we'll have to spend as much time together as possible then huh?"
Lizzie sniffles but nods her head.
"Are you guys going to be okay?" She hopefully questions.
Her face slightly falls the longer the silence continues and it's Alec who speaks up as he places his hand on hers. "Yeah, we'll all be okay."
Camilla notices the gold like clamp on his wrists and she rubs it curiously. "What's this?"
"We all got matching matching bracelets." Hope mumbles as she looks at her own.
"We made an oath like you guys." Jace glances at his father with a frown, still saddened by the news.
Smiles make its way onto Klaus and Cami's faces at the news. They would all be okay, because they had each other.
"What do you guys say we have a movie night? Just the seven of us." Camilla suggests.
All the kids visibly lighten up and nod their heads.
"Okay why don't you guys go grab your things and your mother and I will wait here." Klaus proposes and they're all quick to run to their respective rooms.
Camilla stands from the floor and walks between Klaus' legs. His arms automatically wrap around her waist like a reflex and he lays his head on her chest as she runs her fingers through his blonde curls. "They made an oath." Camilla states proudly.
"They'll be okay, love. They now have each other, they can do anything." He hums.
"Do they remind you of you and your siblings?" She curiously questions.
Stifling a small laugh he says, "Besides the psychopathic parents trying to kill them, the lack of bloodlust, and mystical daggers yeah sure."
Camilla swats his head playfully. "If I ever find out their are any daggers I will hurt you."
"I'll be dead how would it be my fault?" He raises a cheeky brow.
"The idea would've obviously come from your past." She pretends to think.
"I guess I should go back in time and tell my past self that he needs to stop because he'll be a bad influence to his five future children." He sarcastically remarks and Camille throws her head back in laughter.
Children's chattering brings them back to reality as they all burst into her bedroom with multiple blankets and pillows. Klaus and Camilla both roar in laughter when they notice Josie holding more snacks in her hand than she can hold, a bag of chips in her mouth, bottles of soda under both armpits, and a bowl for the unopened popcorn over her head.
Josie's cheeks turn into a Rosie red. "Jace said I was on snack duty." She shyly admits.
Klaus gently pushes Cami aside to go help the girl. "It's alright little dove, although I think you could've fit another soda under your chin."
Josie playfully rolls her eyes as they all laugh.
