A RAY OF SUNLIGHT came through the crevice of the curtains and lit up where Y/N laid in bed. He opened his eyes, letting out a yawn and stretching out his arms. He turned his head and looked at the other bed on his left, noticing it was empty.

"Where has my wife gone?" He asked himself, "Did I sleep in?"

Y/N got up from the bed and opened the curtains. Based on the sun, it seemed like it was about 7 o'clock in the morning. It was the usual time he woke up, so it came as a relief knowing he didn't sleep in.

The man went to the bathroom and did his usual morning routine, then went back to the room after showering and changed into his usual work attire. As he fixed his tie, he looked at the picture frame of his wife and him on the dresser. A smile grew on his face as he reminisced

"Ah. What a great time we had at the park. New York should be at the top of our travel list."

Y/N nodded at his own reflection in the mirror as he finished getting ready. Walking out of the bedroom, he picked up yesterday's newspaper from the table in the hallway and started walking down the stairs.

He made his way through the living room and into the kitchen, opening the door while reading the paper. He glanced up for a split-second, seeing a plate hovering towards his face. He quickly used his intangibility and the dish phased through him, shattering upon impact at the wall behind him.

"My wife and her flying saucers." Y/N remarked with a smirk as he looked at Wanda in the kitchen.

She smiled, "My husband and his impalpable form."

Y/N chuckled at the joke of his ghost-like abilities. He walked over and planted a kiss on the side of her head. "Aren't we a fine pair?"

Wanda used her own powers to rebuild the shattered plate, then started floating it along with others back into their places.

"What do you say to silver dollar pancakes, crispy hash browns, bacon, eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, and black coffee?" She asked.

"I'd say you work too hard, darling. Just give me a coffee and I'll be ready for the day."

Wanda looked in the fridge and saw that there was nothing in it. She quickly closed it and looked back over to her husband, "Coffee it is, honey."

Y/N folded his newspaper as he looked ahead at the calendar on the wall. He raised his brow, "Wanda?"

"Hmm?"

"Is there something special about today?"

She looked down at her clothes, "Well, I know the apron is a bit much, dear, but I am doing my best to blend in."

Y/N put the paper down on the table as he pointed, "No, no, there on the calendar. Someone's drawn a little heart right above today's date."

Wanda got in front of the calendar to look at it and Y/N placed his hands on her shoulders.

"Oh, yes, the heart."

"Hmm..."

"Well, don't tell me you have forgotten, Y/N."

"No...obviously not." Y/N began to think. What was special about today? He only knew that his brother, Vision, was going to come over but that was going to be tomorrow.

"Well?" Wanda asked.

"Well? Perhaps you have forgotten yourself."

"Me? Heavens, no. I've been so looking forward to it."

"As have I." Y/N tried to play it off, but unbeknownst to him, so was Wanda, "Today, we are celebrating..."

"You bet we are. It's the first time we..."

Y/N leaned on the island in the middle of the kitchen, "Mmm-hmm."

Wanda continued as she also leaned over the island, "...have ever celebrated this occasion before."

Y/N nodded, "It's a special day."

"Perhaps an evening..."

"Of great significance."

"To us both!"

"Naturally."

"Obviously."

"Exactly." Y/N said and leaned over to kiss Wanda on the lips, "Well done, us."

Y/N parted and went over to the table to grab his briefcase, "Well, that's me off to work, then."

"Don't forget your hat." Wanda called out as he walked over to the door.

"I won't." He took the hat from the hanger and put it on. He blew a kiss towards Wanda, who playfully caught it which made him smile.

"Have a good day, dear!" Y/N bid farewell, and left the house.

Wanda walked over to the calendar and bit her thumb as she tried to remember what the heart was for. Suddenly, she heard a knock at the front door and walked over to see who it was. Upon opening it, she saw a woman in a plaid dress holding a plant to give as a gift.

"Hello, dear. I'm Agnes, you're neighbor to the right." She gleefully spoke, "My right, not yours. Forgive me for not stopping by sooner to welcome you to the block."

WITH A SIGH, Y/N placed the stack of papers on his co-worker's table, "Here are those computation forms that you requested, Norm."

"Nice work, Y/N!" Norm basically cheered, "I got to say, once you arrived business has never been better."

"Thanks." Y/N placed his hands on his waist and looked around, "But I still don't know what we do here exactly. Do we make something?"

"No." Norm replied.

"Right. Do we buy or sell something?"

"No and no."

"Then what is the purpose of this company?"

Norm smiled, "All I know is, like I said, productivity has skyrocketed to 300% since you've gotten here."

Y/N nodded and replied, "Computing this data is fairly easy. I guess it runs in the family...my brother is basically a walking computer."

"I bet he'd be a great addition to this company." Norm said.

"He would be." Y/N then remembered Vision was visiting soon, and upon remembering that he also remembered that today was supposed to be a special day. He sat on the edge of his desk as he looked down.

"What's got you all gloomy, Y/N?" Norm asked.

"Well, it appears there's something special about today, special to Wanda, that's my wife, and gee...I can't, for the life of me, recall what it is."

The two of them began to wonder together, but then the door near them opened and they sat back at their desks. Their boss, Mr. Hart, walked over to Y/N's desk.

"Mr. L/N."

"Yes?"

"Wife and I are looking forward to this evening."

In that moment, Y/N immediately remembered. How could he forget?

"Mr. Hart. Of course!" He shot up from his seat, "Dinner with Mr. Hart and his dear lady wife, Mrs. Hart."

"That's what I said. What's wrong with you? Thoughts phasing out of your head?" Mr. Hart asked.

"Oh, no, sir. Nothing is phasing out of me, sir." Y/N laughed.

"I should hope so." Mr. Hart replied, "Employee dinners are a rite of passage for the new hires."

"Ah."

"Jones over there failed miserably." He looked over at the employee walking by carrying a box of his things, "Isn't that right, Jones?"

"The wife thought five courses would be sufficient." He responded.

"And there was that paltry excuse for entertainment."

"A string quartet?"

"And then you had that embarrassing display of beatnik enthusiasm."

Jones shook his head before walking off, "I wore a turtleneck."

Mr. Hart turned back to Y/N, "You know, I owe my success to being a keen judge of character. No skeletons in your closet, eh, L/N?"

"No, sir. I actually only have an extra polka-dot tie and coat in it."

"Glad to hear it. Your future in this company depends on it."

"My polka-dot tie?"

Mr. Hart shook his head, "I like your humor, L/N. Wonder if there will be more of it tonight."

He walked away, leaving Y/N alone at his desk. He rubbed his chin and sighed, he had to inform Wanda about tonight.

BACK AT HOME Wanda sat on the sofa beside Agnes, who tried her best to help the lady prepare for what Wanda assumed was her and Y/N's anniversary night.

"Nothing special you played at your wedding?" Agnes asked as she looked into a magazine.

"No, nothing special." Wanda tried to remember her wedding, but couldn't really do so.

"I'll just loan you some records then." Agnes replied, "So, we've got music covered, decor, wardrobe. Oh! What about seduction techniques?"

"Oh, I have those."

Agnes chucked, "Well, of course you do."

Wanda shifted her body to face her, "Just out of curiosity, what does it say?"

Agnes continued reading from the page, "That you should stumble when you walk into a room so he can catch you. It's romantic!"

Wanda didn't really understand that, "Any other tricks?"

"You could point out that the death rate of single men is twice that of married men."

"Now, that's romantic." She replied with a smirk, leading to the both of them laughing together.

The phone rang and Wanda excused herself to go pick it up.

"L/N residence." She answered.

Y/N was on the other line, "Wanda, honey."

"Y/N, sweetheart."

"Listen, about tonight..."

"Don't worry, dear. I have everything under control."

Y/N was relieved. Thankfully, his wife must've remembered about dinner with his boss.

"Thank heavens. I'm must confess. I'm really rather nervous." He told her.

"Nervous? Whatever for?" She asked with genuine concern.

Y/N looked around the office to make sure nobody was listening in, especially Mr. Hart.

"Well, you know, darling. I still get a little tongue-tied."

Wanda smiled on the other end. Her heart warmed at the thought of her husband getting butterflies for their special night, "Y/N, after all this time..."

"There's an awful lot riding on this one, Wanda." Y/N replied, "If tonight doesn't go just so, I think this could be the end."

That statement caused Wanda to raise a brow, "Well, it's just one night. There's no need to get dramatic."

"Look, I think the best course of action is to impress the wife." Y/N mentioned Mrs. Hart.

Unbeknownst that her husband was talking about dinner with his boss, she replied inferring about their anniversary night.

"And I think the best course of action is to impress the husband." Wanda gave a thumbs up to Agnes in the sofa, who gave two thumbs up in return.

"Wonderful." Y/N responded. "Glad to know we're both on the same page. Until tonight, then, my love."

"Until tonight." Wanda said, and the two ended the call.
