Lee Ilhoon, well known artist, best friend of Park Jisoo, had something to say to her.
He didn't know how he was gonna do it or how she would react but it needed to come out. He couldn't hide his feelings anymore. He needed to tell her.
Yongguk, Jisoos now almost a year boyfriend and ex member of BAP, was having a celebration with a few friends after the release of his single Hikikomori.
He had his friends, his twin brother, Taeyong ( jisoos brother ) and many others over at a resturaunt in the middle of Seoul. A resturaunt they rented out for their private celebration.
Ilhoon had been living in Seoul for about 4 months after his second art studio opened and it had been doing very well.
He was happy but he knew he wouldn't be fully happy until he told Jisoo how he felt.
"Thank you all for coming." Yongguk said, smiling sheepishly. Jisoo sat next to him with his arm around her. Ilhoon sat right beside Yongguks older sister, Natasha.
"And thank you, jagiya, for planning this," he said, smiling at her with much love in his eyes. Jisoo held the same amount in her eyes.
And that made him smile. She found someone who loved just as hard as she did. He was happy that she was this happy.
Yongguk placed a kiss on her head as she leaned into his arms.
"Oh come on!" Taeyong playfully groaned. "If I wanted to see people get lovey dovey, I would watch a drama."
"Says the one who's getting married in 2 months." Jisoo shot back quickly.
That caused everyone to laugh as Jin-young, Taeyongs fiance, smiled at him sweetly.
"Dongsaeng, have I told you that I love her?" Natasha asked.
"Many times, noona, many times." He replied.
Ilhoon silently smiled throughout the whole ordeal. It wasn't that he wasn't social, he was just basking in the moment. Enjoying the warm atmosphere.
The whole dinner party was such a warm experience for him. He was very glad he decided to come.
______
"Soo-ah, can I talk to you for a minute?"
Jisoo had been mingling with some of Yongguks friends when Ilhoon walked over to her. When she looked at him, he had a nervous look on his face. He was never good at hiding emotions. Especially when he was nervous about something.
"Yeah, sure." She said, excusing herself from the two guys before walking with him towards the door.
Just before she could get there, Yongguk stopped her.
"Where are you going, baby?" He asked, frowning protectively.
"I'm just going to talk to Ilhoon-ah for a second, I'll be right back." She reassured.
Yongguk was always protective of her. He wasn't a jealous person but he was adamant on her safety no matter who it was.
He nodded, letting her walk out.
____
"What's wrong?" she asked gently, noticing his face.
He was nervous but never this nervous. She wondered what was on his mind.
"Um....."he mumbled, fiddling with his fingers. Why was he this nervous? He could always tell Jisoo anything. "I...ummm....I don't know how you would feel about this. But I need to say it. Because i owe it to you."
"What is it? You can tell me anything." She consoled, hoping to ease his nerves.
"Its just..." he began but trailed off, not able to find the right words. "Um....I hope this doesn't change anything between us, Soo-ah. I love you too much to lose you."
"I love you too, Ilhoonie." Jisoo replied, offering a kind smile. "Whatever it is, can never come between our friendship."
Ilhoon forces a weak smile before letting out a big burst of air. If he was gonna confess, he might as well do it now or he will never do it.
"Jisoo, I..."
He felt stuck again. The words were there but why couldn't he say them? His heart pumped very fast in his chest, he felt his palms get sweaty.
He didn't know what to do.
".....Jisoo, I'm gay."
Jisoo paused. Silence fell between them. And the amount of tension in the air made Ilhoon fear the worst. Jisoos face fell blank as she kept staring at him.
It was like all of his fears were pushed in front of him for display. He played this scenario in his head many times before. Most of them with negative out comes.
He told his brother of his sexual orientation and Jiwon accepted him, his parents accepted him, hell even when his employees found out, they all accepted him.
But to him, none of that matter unless his best friend accepted him.
He knew it was bad to think that. He loved his family and was very glad to know that they accepted him for who he is but he didn't feel complete unless he knew Jisoo accepted him.
He couldn't live a lie anymore.
Just as he began to stutter out an apology, Jisoo quickly pulled him into a huge hug.
An action that shouldn't have surprised him but it did.
"I'm so happy for you!" Jisoo squealed in delight. She pulled herself apart from him and beamed happily. "You're being yourself and I couldn't be happier."
"Y-You're not upset?" Ilhoon stuttered out, feeling happy tears form in his eyes.
Jisoo could see his eyes swell up and knew how hard this must have been for him to come out like this. It would be hard for anyone to come out to love ones in fears of being rejected.
Knowing him, he had a lot of time to think about this.
"The only thing I'm upset about is you not telling me sooner." She said, poking his face.
Ilhoon's lips began to quiver as tears slid down his face. His heart felt like it was gonna burst. He had never felt so happy in his life.
Jisoo, someone he considered his sister, accepted him for who he is.
He was more happy that he didn't have to live a lie anymore. He could now freely be himself. Someone he knew he always was. And it felt good. So damn good.
The weight was off of his shoulders now.
In an emotional moment, he pulled Jisoo back into a big hug, quietly sobbing in her shoulder as she hugged back.
"Thank you....so much." He mumbled into her shoulder.
Jisoo smiled softly, allowing him to cry. "I will always accept and love you...no matter what, Hoonie."
_____
After what happened outside, Ilhoon felt more confident and a lot more sociable.
Jisoo stayed by his side the whole time as they talked and laughed with everyone. Everything was going great and she felt that Ilhoon will now know how to live his life freely.
"Sorry, I'm late." A voice suddenly said, grabbing most of everyones attention.
Jisoo looked and squealed excitedly. She quickly walked over to the figure, giving him a hug.
"Hey! You're not late!" She said, grabbing his hand and pulling him to the table.
"Everyone, this is my friend Holland."
Holland, an openly gay Korean idol, smiled and bowed towards everyone. "Hello, everyone."
Everyone welcomed him warmly, some even recognizing who he was.
"There's someone I want you to meet." She whispered to him, pulling him with her.
Ilhoon stared at Holland and couldn't believe his eyes. He had only seen him on TV but he never imagined he would ever meet him before. And he was more beautiful than he could ever imagine.
It made his face flush red the closer him and Jisoo walked over to him.
"Ilhoonie, this is my friend Holland." She introduced.
Ilhoon almost didn't hear her as his eyes stayed on the singers face.
Holland looked at Ilhoon and suddenly felt shy under his gaze. Jisoo had talked about a lot of her friends to him but never did he imagine how....ethereal Ilhoon would be.
He felt like a school boy with a crush.
"Um...H-Hi." Ilhoon sheepishly mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck.
Holland let out a breathy chuckled, offering his hand. "Hey, I-I heard so much about you."
Ilhoon turned full on red. So Jisoo has been talking about him to her idol friends.
"Oh! Haha...good things I hope."
"Yeah, yeah, very good things."
Jisoo smirked knowingly between the two. She could see the connection the two had. She was always good with these things.
"Well, I'm gonna go back to check if Taeyong oppa didn't drink too much soju again." She said. "Get acquainted, have fun!"
She knew they didn't hear what she said. They were too busy making lovey eyes at each other.
Skipping off, she felt satisfied with her job.
I'm the best best friend ever.
