yn leaned against the wall, waiting for the end of classes. she would be home already if she walked home after finishing her classes, but she preferred to wait for suna to walk home with him. she just loved going on walks with rintarō, they were always so much fun, especially since suna was way more observant than her and he was pointing out all the things she would miss, like a cat sitting next to a tree or a yellow car, she loved the way he was petting her head when she got all excited because of a car's rare seen color. she also liked how he held her hand without hesitation as they began walking together.

the walks with suna were the best thing ever.

a loud ringing rang throughout the school, and students began to leave a few moments later. most of the time, yn sighed loudly at the thought of how tall suna was, because he was using his height against her, but in moments like this, he was acceptable as some kind of tower. in a sea of students of average height, he was easy to spot.

"hi, tarō."

she smiled as she swayed with her hands tied behind her back.

"we've seen each other a million times today already."

suna extended his hand to her and waited for her to take it.

"i know, i was just catching your attention."

yn smiled broadly and intertwined her fingers with suna's.

"you have all of my attention, darling."

for a split second, she tried to play hard to get, but she turned her head away, giggling to herself. she wasn't hard to seduce, she melted whenever suna called her a petname or complimented her.

"let's go."

yn pulled his hand slightly, but a sudden shout next to her brought her to a stop.

"it's fucking raining, i'm going to kill myself!"

it was, in fact, raining. yn didn't notice because her mind was too preoccupied with suna's flirtatious comment, but he seemed to notice because he let go of her hand and looked for the umbrella he had in his sports bag, along with his volleyball uniform and some other things.

"hey, do you need an umbrella?"

he said to the girl next to them, offering her the mentioned item.

"what about you?"

she was clearly hesitant, but they could see a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

"don't worry about it, just return it tomorrow."

she took the umbrella after reassurance, and they soon lost sight of her.

"you're such a gentleman."

yn smiled at this whole situation. she was aware that some girls could take it wrong, but she liked that suna wasn't afraid to help other girls for fear of being jealous. how could she be jealous when he was simply showing someone kindness?

"we wouldn't have used it anyway."

he tried to brush it off, but yn noticed that he smiled proudly at her compliment.

"do you want to honor me and walk in the rain with me, my lady?"

yn punched the arm he extended to her, but she held on, trying to gather herself.

"yes, i do."

they eventually left school and made their way home. yn was quickly distracted by the sensation of rain on her warm skin, and she forgot about being shy about suna's comments.

"would you believe it if someone told you after our first rainy walk together that we'd end up like this?"

suna had to pause for a moment before responding.

"maybe not right after, but... yeah, i would."

"huh?!"

yn came to a stop and let go of suna's arm, standing in front of him, eyes wide open and arms crossed across her chest.

"did you have a crush on me for a long time?"

suna sighed with a slight smile on his lips, and placed his hands on yn's wet cheeks. with that shook expression, she was just too cute.

"don't make me answer that."

she knitted her brows, and it was clear to him that she demanded an answer, despite his plea.

"maybe."

"maybe is not an answer!"

he squished her cheeks to make it harder for her to speak, so she mumbled it. but nothing on the planet could make her stop talking.

"i'm not sure when it happened, but given how caring, smart, and sweet you are, it happened quickly."

"oh, please shut up."

yn pushed his hands away and began to walk home alone, embarrassed by suna's sweet words. it was so unbelievable for her that he really fell for her. she even has a habit of waking up in the middle of the night, stressed, because something in her brain told her that she had imagined everything. suna called her after every doubtful text from yn to assure her that it was all true. most of these phone calls ended with yn abruptly dropping the call because suna was becoming too cute with his words for her to handle. it was also difficult to sleep after that.

"You said you wanted me to talk."

"Well, I don't want anything anymore."

"When did you become such a liar?"

His teasing tone caused her to quicken her pace, as if she were trying to flee from him. However, running in the rain was difficult, and the ground was slippery, making it easy to trip. just like she did, falling to her knees.

"ouch."

that was her only reaction as she remained on the ground, enjoying the humiliation.

"come on, you poor thing, stand up. does it hurt?"

suna grabbed her elbows and lifted her off the ground. he avoided grabbing her hands on purpose because they were probably scratched from falling.

"are you all right?"

"yeah... it doesn't hurt all that much."

"ah, if it hurt, i'd give you a kiss, but since it doesn't,..."

yn bowed down in half and cried out loud in a matter of seconds.

"oh my god! it hurts so much! i don't think i will make it! please tell my wife i loved her..."

she looked at suna to see if he was impressed by her performance, but he was just laughing at her.

"maybe ask for a kiss from your wife."

the playful pettiness in his voice caused her to quickly wipe her wet and dirty hands so she could grab suna's hands.

"but you are my wife."

she said it without thinking about the context.

"oh? so tell your wife that you love her by yourself."

"oh."

sespite the fact that these words were simply the result of her silly jokes, they sounded so serious, as if it had been the moment she had been waiting for since the party when the two admitted that they do have feelings for each other.

but was it truly a good time? they were all wet, just walking home from school on a random tuesday. she hadn't planned it well enough to make it special, and she needed it to be special because suna was special to her.

"i'm sorry."

after a second of serious silence filled with rain sounds, he said. he never wanted to pressure yn to talk about feelings she wasn't ready to talk about. that's why days passed after the party and they still weren't a couple.

but that's when yn realized. suna was so special, and it made every moment with him special enough to make it important.

"i do love you, i do."

she muttered under her breath. she did her best not to shy away from looking suna in the eyes. it was going well until he smiled at her with that beautiful smile that always made her knees buckle.

"i love you too."

he didn't have to think about what to say. these words were formed in his mind and were just waiting for the right moment to fly out.

"thanks."

she mumbled, her gaze fixed on her shoes.

"thanks?"

"i panicked, sorry, i'm not sure what happens next."

suna softly smiled and took her face in his hands once more.

"do you want to be my girlfriend?"

"shouldn't you get down on one knee or something?"

she joked to relieve tension, but it didn't work because suna literally dropped his bag and got down on one knee. he did it just to show her that he would do it, even if he knew she was being silly.

"oh my god, stop! people will think you're proposing to me."

they looked around the empty area, which had no trace of any human life.

"i swear i can hear them clapping after you agree."

"meanie..."

yn pushed his shoulder, causing him to lose his balance for a second, but he quickly gathered himself, ready to finish the job.

"do you want to be my girlfriend, yn?"

"yes."

she laughed quietly in response.

"do you know what happens next?"

suna asked, standing up. he grabbed yn's waist and pulled her closer to him.

"i think i do."

after her words, they shared their first kiss beneath the gloomy clouds, with feeling of rain on their skin.
