"i'll be back in a moment."
suna said as he walked away from his friends. however, it was obvious that he would not return so quickly, as they all saw him walking in the direction of yn.
it was saturday evening, one of the more popular guys at school had thrown a big party, and even those who weren't fans of such gatherings felt bad for missing it.
suna was unsure if he wanted to go, but atsumu and yn had been bugging him all week and he had to finally give in and promise to show up at least for two hours to have some fun.
he arrived as promised, but he couldn't find yn, and she wasn't responding to his texts. He now understood why.
"hi."
yn gave him a big smile that turned into a small smirk when she saw that suna had to take a moment to look at her closely.
"you look really pretty."
after a few seconds, he said. they'd never been to a party together, but suna had a feeling yn would take advantage of the occasion to show off her best outfits. and she did not let him down. she looked unreal.
"thank you, you look really pretty too."
suna wished for more time spent together, but koganegawa stood next to them, looking impatient, so he assumed they had some sort of plan for the night together, and he didn't want to interfere with that.
when koganegawa saw the opportunity, he dragged yn somewhere, most likely to drink something, based on the direction they went.
"i'll catch you in a moment!"
she said loudly to catch his attention, right before she vanished from his sight. suna sighed with relief, remembering how she literally begged him to come. yn knew it wouldn't be nice if she just made him come and then didn't spend time with him, but she also promised koganegawa that she would be with him during his first shot of shochu, and that she would do one with him.
"oh! hayashi-san is here, hayashi!"
yn yelled in her direction immediately after finishing her drink. koganehawa awkwardly shook his hands, but that didn't stop yn from bringing hayashi to them.
"can you keep an eye on him for me? i need to find rin. i'll see you later!"
ah, she was a fantastic matchmaker. they didn't need her help because they were spending time together almost every day, but she noticed that lately they were strangely awkward with each other, and spending time with a little bit of alcohol (only a little bit, because she told koganegawa not to drink too much for his own safety) will definitely help them resolve whatever was going between them.
suna was found in the living room, standing near a few people who were playing the bottle and watching the game. he was probably having a good time, especially since semi and atsumu were one of playing people.
"hi."
she patted her warm cheeks as she smiled at him. she wasn't the best drinker; even the smallest gulp of alcohol made her sweat, so she was always content with one shot to relax and nothing more throughout the night. however, the shot was unusually large, resembling a small, regular glass rather than a shot glass. too big. and it tasted off.
"you look like a tomato."
he laughed at her and placed his hand on her cheek. because he was holding a beer from the frigde, it was extremely cold.
"thanks."
she chuckled as she used his hand as an ice pack.
"dear god, it's so hot in here."
"i think you are hot."
"awh, thank you, tarล."
suna looked at her, laughing at her own joke. but it was a good one, and he smiled. it was difficult not to.
"come here, suna!"
when one of the girls from their class said his name, his attention shifted to the playing circle.
"why?"
he asked, looking around the faces. and some of them warned him that whatever was going on, he wasn't going to like it. especially atsumu's, he looked like he was about to witness a murder.
"eh, fine, i'll do it myself."
the girl stood up from the floor and walked straight toward him, which didn't answer his question about why she needed him.
yn let go of his hand because everyone was staring at them and it felt awkward. when their classmate stood in front of suna and placed one hand on his chest, she knew what was about to happen no matter how hard she tried not to think about it.
"it's just a dare, so chill out."
when she saw how confused he was, the girl said.
"i don't play."
he said this while taking a step back from her.
"you don't have to, it's my dare."
when the dots in his head connected, suna knitted his brows. his gaze shifted to yn, and she snapped. she wasn't about to stand there and watch some girl hit on the boy she liked! yes, she was curious to see what he would do, but the worst-case scenario would break her heart and humiliate her in front of one-third of the entire school.
"can you dare each other to kiss someone who isn't taken?"
atsumu was actually about to witness a murder.
"let's go."
yn said and exited the house. suna followed her like a dog, no questions asked, just a salute to his friends, who knew something was going to happen between their two lovebirds this night.
"hey, slow down."
suna stopped her with his hand on her shoulder. they were already a few houses away from the party and weren't even walking in the direction of their homes.
"would you kiss her?"
with a grimace on her face, yn turned to face him.
"no."
he said it right away. didn't she hear him say he doesn't play? he thought it would stop the girl, which is why he looked panicked at yn. normally, he would just say something mean to this girl, but because of yn, he began to dislike being perceived as a mean person, and he certainly didn't want to be mean to another girl in front of the girl he liked. he was about to walk away from the situation if yn hadn't intervened.
"she was pretty."
yn mumbled, her arms crossed across her chest. and that made suna realize how jealous she was.
"i hadn't noticed that."
"she was really pretty."
he had never seen yn become so self-conscious before. he didn't like seeing her like that.
"she must not have been my type."
"would you kiss her if she was your type?"
yn mumbled, her arms crossed across her chest.
and that made suna realize how jealous she was.
yn felt like something was sitting on her heart just from the thought. she was so sure that there was something between her and suna that the only thing left to do was confess, that she didn't even care about all the girls in school who liked him. she had simply forgotten about them. but they did existed still, and many of them were far more attractive, intelligent, and entertaining than she was. she was always loud and childish, and probably quite irritating. instead of thinking that suna will wait for her forever because she didn't want to confess first, she should just say something the day she realized her feelings.
"if she was my type, she would be someone else."
"who?"
she didn't want to hear the response.
suna tilted his head slightly and looked at her more closely, only to notice that yn was about to cry. it was confusing to see her react in that way to something. especially since they both knew they liked each other and he had already stated that he would not kiss this girl, or anyone who wasn't her. but then he realized that yn had been drinking that night, and it was probably alcohol speaking for her. it was very possible that whatever she drank was a combination of alcohols in one bottle, because one shot of shch wouldn't have done such a trick on her, and she wasn't acting like herself.
"oh, yn, don't cry, there's nothing to cry about."
he cooed, while wiping her cheeks with his thumbs.
"just tell me who."
he couldn't help but smile as he watched her sob, knowing how embarrassed she'd be about it the next day.
"you, who else?"
suna expected it to help her relax, but it only made her cry even more. he sighed quietly and wrapped his arms around her. he began petting her hair and gently swaying them to the sides as she placed her hands on his back and clutched his hoodie for dear life.
"i like you so much, i don't want you to be with anyone else."
it was difficult to understand what she was saying because the material muffled her words and she was still sobbing, but he got the general idea of what she was trying to say.
"i like you too, you already know that."
she began shaking her head to the sides.
"you didn't know? it's not possible, because i really like you."
suna moved delicately to place his hands on her cheeks and reveal her face to himself.
"i really do."
and he kissed her forehead.
"please don't cry about it, alright?"
yn sniffed loudly and began searching her bag for tissues. she was ready to speak after she snorted.
"i'm drunk."
suna chuckled and shook his head. that was the first thing she wanted to say?
"i know, sweetie, i can see."
"don't call me that because i'll fall in love or something..."
she patted his chest and began to walk away.
"where are you going?"
"home, i need to vomit."
"home is other way."
"i know..."
she groaned as she turned away and started walking this time in good direction.
