"yn?"

hearing bokuto's voice, yn quickly turned around. she wandered around the platform for a few minutes, looking for her friend's face.

when she saw bokuto, she smiled broadly and opened her arms for him to hug her. she was afraid he'd kill her with that one hug.

"ahh, bo, you're so big now! look at you!"

when he finally let her go, yn patted his arms. they had both changed so much since the last time they saw each other, but if she had to be honest, only bokuto had changed for the better.

she felt almost out of place when she imagined her new self next to him, especially after a four-hour train ride.

"i'm a serious athlete, of course im so big! miss favorite-of-her-school-volleyball-club, you should be used to being surrounded by big boys."

"oh, please! i never said anything like that!"

she slapped him on the arm this time. sure, she told him that she hangs out a lot with them now, but she didn't mean it that way.

"i done my own investigation, and my little birdie told me that you are a favorite of at least one of them."

"what exactly does that mean?"

only one person from inarizaki would become friends with bokuto so quickly and tell him something like that, whatever being favorite and for whoever he meant.

"i can't say much, but as captain of one of the best high school volleyball teams, i have a lot of friends with a lot of contacts."

"i hope you didn't tell anyone anything embarrassing about me..."

"how could i?"

bokuto's laugh was too obvious. he may or may not have spilled some facts about his and yn's friendship while speaking to his informant, but it was only to prove that he was truly her friend! he may also send photos of two of them as proof... but they were really cute kids a few years ago, right?

"are we going to your house?"

"yup! but you're only going to leave your suitcase, and we're going back."

"you made really big plans for us, right?"

"of course i did, i need to make up for the time  wasn't there for you."

"hey, kou, don't act as if it was your fault."

yn stopped for a moment, pulling on bokuto's hand to stop him as well.

"it's not your fault either."

he squished her cheek and catched her hand to keep her from getting lost in the crowd.

four hours of sitting in a train made yn regret not studying even harder, maybe if she had, she would have invented teleportation or something similar... but a few minutes in bokuto's house, where she took a shower and petted the hell out of bokuto's dog, made her feel like a nearly new born.

"our first stop will be at my mom's salon."

"are you serious? i can't show your mom my hair, it's been dyed with almost black box dye! not once, but twice!"

bokuto's mother was a little scary, she was lovely, but... in a scary way. she was far too honest about everything, and she would certainly be honest about how much she disliked yn's appearance now.

"i told her everything after he hung up the phone yesterday, don't worry, she knows and she said she will help, no matter how bad it is."

he smiled cheerfully as he opened the doors for her. he quickly found his mother and brought yn to her.

"hi, bokuto-sama."

yn bowed politely, avoiding the woman's gaze as if it was going to burn her alive.

"looking like that, yn? because of a boy? oh, i've always thought you had better taste!"

bokuto's mom grabbed her face in her hands, examining every little change.

"you must be worrying a lot... you should stop because you're getting wrinkles."

"mom."

"i'm saying what i see! don't worry, yn, you'll be beautiful again today thanks to me."

she clapped her hands and walked away from two teenagers, probably to smoke cigarette behind the beauty salon.

"you're pretty all the time, yn."

"shut up."

they spent a good half-hour discussing what they should do with yn's hair, and 'they' didn't include yn at all, only three hair stylists, bokuto's mother, and bokuto himself. yn sat there, helpless, hoping for the best. mrs. bokuto's abilities were well known to her, she was her only hairdresser for the majority of her life, and she never once regretted any decision she made for her, but it was always stressful to sit in front of this large mirror and wait for the finished effect.

bokuto kept her entertained the entire time. he did earn a few punches with a brush from his mother, though, because yn was moving her head all the time to look at him, or he was standing in the wrong spot and he was getting in the way, but overall, they had a good time while sitting in the beauty salon.

"oh."

her breath was taken away when she saw herself in the mirror. she wasn't a narcissist or anything, but damn she looked good.

yn knew she looked better with light hair than dark hair, but she never expected to look so good with blonde hair and red highlights. how it was even possible after dark box dye?

"bokuto-sama..."

"are you crying, yn?"

she only nodded as the older woman tightly hugged her.

'i look really pretty."

yn said quietly, releasing bokuto's mother from her embrace.

"of course, you look pretty, sweetheart, gorgeous even!"

π“†©β˜†β‹†ο½‘Β°πŸβœ§β™ͺΛ–Β°πŸŽ€Β°.β€’β˜†π“†ͺ

"stop looking at me already!"

"i can't, you're too pretty."

for the fifth time, yn pushed bokuto away from her. he'd given her a ton of compliments since they left his mother's salon, and she was afraid she'd burst with one more. she was turning bright red with each passing second. He was clearly messing with her and trying to irritate her with his honest, sweet words.

"i don't even wear any makeup."

"it doesn't matter."

"stop."

"i can't, it's too funny to watch you embarrassed."

"i'll kill you."

"try me."

"i'll try."

"good luck, dopey."

"did you just called me like a dwarf from snow white?"

"i invited my friends over to meet you."

"don't change the subject!"

π“†©β˜†β‹†ο½‘Β°πŸβœ§β™ͺΛ–Β°πŸŽ€Β°.β€’β˜†π“†ͺ

it wasn't just a change of subject, bokuto actually really invited his friends over.

yn didn't know which god she should thank for finding common ground with akaashi, kuroo, and kenma soon after they began talking. maybe she's still easygoing and outgoing on the inside? or maybe she was just a great oversharer, and boys were nosy and curious about any tea they could get their hands on. anyway, they were happy to hear the entire story between yn and daishou so they could have a big brainstorm about what next step she should take, over some pizza and coke.

"girl, wake up and break up."

kenma put down his controller and rubbed his eyes.

"i know... i just... i don't know how."

"worst way possible, he deserves it."

akaashi shrugged his shoulders and bokuto quickly agreed.

"give me your phone."

kuroo extended his hand in her direction, expecting her to do what he said. she hesitated for a split second, but only for a split second. she unlocked her phone and handed it over to him.

"oooh, i like suna."

"don't go through my messages!"

she quickly felt comfortable enough to smack kuroo's shoulder without thinking.

"sorry, sorry, I wasn't reading anything, the notification just popped up. he said he was going to bed, but he left the sound on in case you wanted to talk... damn... that's cute."

"he is so sweet."

yn put her face in hands and groaned loudly.

"you didn't even break up with one boyfriend before getting yourself another?"

"no! suna is just a friend of mine! we're just really close, but we're only friends."

she quickly protested at kenma's words.

"doesn't sound like this."

"yah, he's just worried about me, bokuto is also worried about me and you're not implying anything!"

"valid point."

"thank you, akaashi."

"done, now you're single."

kuroo returned her phone, on which she saw a plain text message to daishou that said, 'i'm breaking up with you.'

"how do you feel?"

she looked up at bokuto, who was patting her back and attempting to comfort her at the time.

"okay, i think? i mean, it was just a formality... we barely spoke in the last two months... i feel good."

"awh, come here."

bokuto squized her tightly, smiling proudly at her.

"suna... suna as the one from miya twins team?"

yn groaned loudly when she heard kuroo going back to the topic of suna. not like she didn't liked talking about him, but her new friends already set on that they were more than friends and it made her too flustered for her liking.

"yeah! he's a middle blocker."

"i hate this guy."

akaashi murmured, while eating a piece of pizza.

"why?"

kenma asked right away.

"you'll see when nekoma will face inarizaki on nationals... he's good. annoyingly good."

"i wish we could play with inarizaki some time soon."

akaashi just throw a glance in bokuto's direction. last time they played inarizaki, not only they lost, but also their coach benched bokuto for the longest time ever, since half of his spikes were blocked and he was sulking too much to play. they better not play with inarizaki anytime soon.

they then heard a ping from her phone and saw that daishou had replied to her message.

"eh? he said 'no'."

"damn, that's embarrassing for him."

"what am i supposed to do now..."

she groaned loudly and sunk onto the pillow, face down. akaashi, who was sitting right next to her, lightly patted her back.

"ask your friends to kick his ass."

kenma's idea was violent, but pretty brilliant, since words weren't enough for daishou, maybe punches would.

at least that's what bokuto thought.

but they had to leave this idea, when they saw dissapointed look from yn.

"maybe i should just start pretending like i don't know him..."

"you're not a coward, yn."

"i am a big coward."

"you remember how you punched one guy from my class in 5th grade, just because he was mean to me?"

yn gasped and punched bokuto, to get this idea out of his head.

"i can't punch daishou, bo!"

"i mean... you kind of can, but that was not my point. my point is that you're a badass in the core, you can tell daishou just to go fuck himself in school."

"but make sure you're with people around, just in case to be safe."

akaashi added after bokuto.

"maybe i'll try. not like i have other choice now..."
