Will's fingers were laced through mine, his grip warm and firm as we walked through the crowd. I could feel the excitement radiating off him he was practically jumping with it.
"Alright, Iz," he said, turning to me with a playful smirk. "Where do we start?"
I glanced around at all the options the giant Ferris wheel looming in the distance, the twisting roller coasters, the stalls filled with stuffed animals and prizes.
"Hmmm..." I pretended to think, then grinned. "Something not terrifying."
Will scoffed, placing a hand on his chest like I'd just insulted him. "Are you calling me terrifying?"
"No, the rides, you dummy." I laughed
He smirked, tugging me toward a game stall. "Fine. We'll start with something easy. but no matter what I'll win you a teddy."
I raised an eyebrow. "a teddy bear?"
He grinned and repeated"a teddy bear"
We stopped at one of those shooting stalls the kind where you had to knock down a pyramid of cans with a toy rifle.
"Watch and learn, my love ," he murmured, cracking his knuckles dramatically.
I folded my arms, smirking. "If you lose, I'm never letting you live it down."
"Please," he scoffed. "I'm winning you the biggest teddy here."
He took the shot. Missed. I burst out laughing.
Will turned to me, embarrassed . "That was a practice shot."
"Yeah, sure," I teased, nudging him.
His jaw tightened in determination. The next shot the first stack of cans fell. Then another. Then the last.
I blinked, genuinely impressed. "will you did it!!"
The stall attendant gestured to the prizes. "What'll it be?"
Will didn't even hesitate before pointing at the biggest teddy bear they had a ridiculously fluffy brown one with a bright red bow.
He turned to me, grinning. "For you, my love."
I took it, hugging it to my chest. "You actually won me a teddy?"
"Obviously." He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead. "Only the best for my girl."
My heart melted. "thank youuuuuu!"
he smiled, squeezing my hand. "no problem"
The first ride we went on was the spinning teacups. Which turned out to be a mistake. Because Will, being an absolute menace, decided to spin our cup as fast as humanly possible.
I was screaming. "WILL, STOP—"
He just laughed, gripping the wheel and making us spin even more. "WHAT?! I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER ALL THIS FUN!"
When the ride finally stopped, I practically stumbled out, gripping onto Will's arm for dear life.
"gosh I can't walk straight" I groaned, swaying slightly.
Will laughed, steadying me by wrapping an arm around my waist. "I'll carry you if you want."
I shot him a glare. "You better not."
The next ride was the haunted house.
The moment we sat in the little cart, Will smirked. "don't get too scared"
I rolled my eyes. "it's like You want me to get scared."
"I would never!" he teased, wrapping an arm around me dramatically. I just shook my head, but when a clown jumped out from the darkness, I let out a small gasp, gripping Will's shirt.
He laughed "oh come on that was nothing!"
I groaned. "Shut up." He kissed my cheek.
I should've known that going on the bumper cars with Will would be a disaster.
From the second we got in, he immediately locked onto me as his target.
"You menace!" I screeched as he slammed into my car.
"you're just a easy target !" he called over the music, laughing.
I narrowed my eyes. "are you challenging me right now?"
"Oh, absolutely." he smiled
I gripped the wheel. "Alright, You asked for it."
For the next five minutes, we were chasing each other down, laughing so hard we could barely breathe. By the time we stumbled out, Will wrapped an arm around me, still grinning. "You're so competitive."
I rolled my eyes. "You started it."
He kissed the tip of my nose. "And you love it."
By the time we got to the Ferris wheel, I was still clutching my teddy, and Will had barely let go of my hand all night. As we reached the top, I looked out at the glowing fair below us. "It looks so pretty from up here."
Will didn't answer immediately. When I turned to him, he was already looking at me, his gaze soft.
"What?" I asked, tilting my head.
He smiled. "Nothing. Just... you're so beautiful."
My face warmed. "Will—"
He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to my lips. It was slow, lingering like he wanted to stay in this moment forever.
When he pulled away, he grinned. "Best date ever?"
I smiled. "Best date ever."
