๐๐๐ก๐ก๐จ ๐๐๐:
I sat at the kitchen table, sipping my coffee and trying to shake off the events of last night. Izzy walked in, looking bright and cheerful, and I couldn't help but smile back, even though I was still uneasy.
"Morning," she said, grabbing a mug. "Coffee smells good."
"Morning," I replied. "Got plans today?"
"Yeah, Mikey and I are going out later," she said, a hint of excitement in her voice.
I tried to keep my tone light. "Where to?"
"Just dinner and maybe a movie," she said, leaning against the counter. "I thought it might be nice to spend some time together."
I nodded, though my mind was racing. "Izzy, about last night I didn't mean to be harsh. I just worry about you."
She sat down across from me, her expression softening. "I know, Will. I appreciate it, but I need to figure things out with Mikey myself."
"I get that," I said, trying to hide my skepticism. "Just be careful, okay? I still don't trust him."
She smiled, reassuring but firm. "I will, I promise."
We sat in silence for a moment before she stood up. "I better start getting ready. Mikey's picking me up soon."
I watched her head to her room, feeling a mix of relief and concern. After a while, she came back out, looking ready for her date.
"How do I look?" she asked, doing a quick twirl.
"you look beautiful iz," I said, with a smile. "Just... remember what I said."
"Thanks, Will," she said, giving me a long hug. "For everything."
When Mikey arrived, I watched from the window as she greeted him and him driving away with my girl.
I was sitting by the window, trying to email producer abi about some new video ideas, then Mikey's car pulled up outside. Iz stepped out, and I could immediately sense something was wrong. Her arms were crossed, her posture tense, and she leaned back into the car to confront Mikey.
Their voices speaking started low but quickly escalated, loud enough for me to hear through the window.
"I can't believe you did that, Mikey!" Iz voice was sharp, filled with disbelief.
Mikey shot back, "Oh, come on, Isabella! You're overreacting. It's not a big deal."
"Not a big deal?" she echoed, her voice rising. "You embarrassed me in front of everyone! You never think about anyone but yourself."
Mikey's tone turned defensive. "I was just having fun. You always take things so seriously."
Iz shook her head, her frustration palpable. "This isn't about fun, Mikey. It's about respect. You can't just treat people like they're disposable."
Mikey leaned closer, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, please. Don't act like you're perfect. You think you're so much better than everyone else."
I could see Iz flinch at his words, hurt flashing across her face. "I never said that. I just want you to care about something other than yourself."
Mikey scoffed, "You know what, Isabella? Maybe you're the problem. You're always trying to change me."
That was the last straw. I couldn't sit by and let him talk to her like that. I rushed down the stairs and out the door, my anger propelling me forward.
As I approached, I heard Mikey say, "You're impossible, Isabella . Maybe we should just end this."
I stepped in, my voice firm and unwavering. "That's enough, Mikey."
He turned to me, surprised and annoyed. "Will, this is none of your business."
"It is when you're treating Iz like this," I shouted, my voice echoing through the quiet street. "What do you even know about her, Mikey? Do you know her middle name? Do you know what she cares about, her dreams? Or are you just here for yourself?"
Mikey glared at me, but I didn't waver. "You need to leave, Mikey. And don't come back. You're fired."
His eyes widened in shock. "Fired? You can't fire me. We're not at work."
I crossed my arms, my expression stern. "I don't need to be at work to fire someone who disrespects my girl. Leave, and don't show your face here again."
He hesitated, anger flickering into something like guilt. Without another word, he drove his off,
as he drove off I shouted "her middle name is louise you dick!!!" I turned to Izzy, her eyes filled with unshed tears. "Are you okay?"
She nodded tears rolling down her cheek and her voice was shaky. "Thanks, Will. I didn't expect it to go like that."
I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You deserve better, Iz. Don't ever forget that."
We stood there for a moment, the cool night air surrounding us. Then, as we made our way inside, Iz composure crumbled. She leaned into me, her voice breaking. "Will, I saw him. I saw Mikey kissing another girl."
Her words hit me like a punch to the gut. I wrapped my arms around her as she started to cry again, her tears soaking into my shirt. "I'm so sorry, Iz. You didn't deserve that."
She clung to me, her sobs shaking her small frame. "I thought he was different. I thought he cared."
I held her tighter, wishing I could take away her pain. "He's not worth your tears, Iz You're strong, and you'll get through this."
As her crying subsided into soft sniffles, she pulled back slightly, looking up at me with tear streaked cheeks. "Will, I'm sorry for not listening to you. You warned me about him, and I didn't want to hear it."
I shook my head, brushing a tear from her cheek. "You don't have to apologize. You wanted to see the good in him, and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just sorry he turned out to be such a dick."
We moved to the couch, where she curled up next to me, her head resting on my shoulder.
"I just feel so stupid," she murmured after a while. "I should have seen it coming."
"You're not stupid, Iz," I reassured her. "You trusted someone, and they let you down. That's on him, not you."
We sat there for a long time, the weight of the evening slowly lifting as the comfort of being together settled in. I knew it would take time for her to heal, but I was determined to be there for her every step of the way.
