My head aches.
The bright September sun shines through the windows, making me look away immediately. I groan at how bright it is since it makes my headache worse.
I look up and my head's on Caitlin's chest. I'm in Caitlin's apartment. I'm in Caitlin's bed.
Before I could do anything to try to go back to sleep, I felt a wave of nausea hit me and immediately got up and ran towards the bathroom. I just about managed to make it to the toilet before I began throwing up everything I'd eaten, drank and probably my stomach acid aswell.
Tears made my vision blurry while I gagged, feeling another wave of nausea start. I felt my hair being lifted from my face and looked back to see a tired Caitlin patting my back, telling me it's okay.
I threw up another round and sat back. My breathing was jagged now, but atleast I didn't feel like I was going to throw up my intestines anymore.
"And this, Elena Pugh, is exactly why we don't drink more than we can handle." Caitlin tells me as she crouches down infront of me and passes me some tissues to wipe my mouth, knowing I didn't have the energy in me to move from leaning against the bathroom wall beside the sink.
"Please spare me the lectures, Cait." I say to her, rubbing my temples. "I seriously hate myself sometimes."
Caitlin laughs at me as she gets up to leave, but I grab her hand. "I'm going to go get you some water." I shake my head and pull her down to the floor. "To be honest, it was funny to see you drunk last night."
"I'm glad I made you laugh, Foord." I tell her with my head in my non-occupied-by-Caitlin's hand.
"We have training, you know?"
"Oh please, God, no." I shake my head quickly, bur then regret it. "I can't have Beth in my ears. Anything but her, please."
Caitlin laughs at me and when I look up at her she only laughs more, but her laugh is contagious so I begin laughing aswell.
When we calm down, I push myself up and Caitlin walks me to the kitchen where she pushes a glass of water and ibuprofen infront of me. I take them and then place my head on the island.
"I hate myself." I groan. "Please don't make me go to training."
Never get drunk the day before you have to partner up with Beth for training. I wanted Caitlin back as my training partner. Jonas was going to hear an earful from me after my head stopped banging and my ears stopped ringing everytime Beth spoke.
"Caitlin." I run over to the girl, during our break, groaning at the pain in my head from the movement. "Take me back. Please." I hold her hand and fall to my knees in a desperate state.
"I can't, Els." She laughs at me.
"Elena! I didn't finish telling you my story!" Beth yells as she runs over.
"Beth, you're doing this on purpose. Leave me be. I beg you." I turn to her and stand up, pushing her away from me.
"Oi, don't push me!" She says and pushes me back. I stumble back and Caitlin catches me. I feel her arms around my waist, holding me up. I look back at her with a smile to thank her before I remember Beth is still very much stood infront of me. I stand back up and step closer to Beth, looking down at her while she looks up at me through her eyelashes. "What are you gonna do?" She asks me.
"Don't be serious, Beth." I tell her as I push her shoulders hard enough for her to fall on her ass.
"Woah, okay, Elena." Caitlin puts her hand on my shoulder, but I push it away. Just as I move to walk away, Beth sweeps me and pulls me to the ground, also making me fall on my ass.
The blonde and I look at each other, but when our eyes meet, we burst out into a fit of laughter. I shuffle over and lie ontop of Beth until she pushes me off.
"You two really confuse me." Caitlin says as she sits down beside my head.
"Me too, Cait. Me too." I say as I roll onto my stomach and look up at her. She gives me a small smile before Beth rolls onto her stomach and does the same.
"What are we doing?" Beth whispers to me.
"I don't know." I shrug. "Just staring at Cait, I suppose."
"Can we not." Caitlin whispers back and I giggle.
"I'm bored." I say to her.
"Let's go on an instagram live." Beth suggests and I agree with a loud 'yes!', but then instantly regret it when my head hurts gain.
"After I have another ibuprofen." I say as we all stand up.
Beth set up the live. Jonas agreed to letting us do a live and said to do it on the Arsenal Instagram page so, Beth logged in on the club ipad that was used for pretty much everything. Leah and I loved playing block blast on it.
"Hi, guys." We wave at the camera as we saw the number of people on the live get higher.
"Alright, let's start with something easy. What's been your favorite moment from training this season?" Beth says as she thinks of questions to ask each other to get the live going as we wait for more people to join and also fans to put in some questions.
"When Elena tried to show off and slipped during that dribbling drill!" Caitlin smirks at me.
"Hey!" My jaw drops as she just tells that to the fans. "That was one time! Besides, I recovered quickly. What about you, Beth?"
"Probably that time we had a mini dance-off in the changing room before the game. You know, keeping it light before the storm."
"That was so funny." I laugh at the memory.
"Elena, how's the adjustment been? Coming from Houston and now here with us?"
"It's been great. The team has been so welcoming, especially you two and Steph. Training is intense, but I love the challenge. And of course, getting to know everyone has been awesome."
"And by 'everyone,' she means the kitchen staff. You should see her trying to get extra dessert." Caitlin teases me while nudging me.
"You caught me! But seriously, it's been a smooth transition more or less, thanks to you guys." I grin.
"So, fans always ask about thisβdo we have any pre-game rituals?" Beth reads out the comments.
"I always have to put my left boot on first. No idea why, it's just a habit now." Caitlin replies.
"I like to listen to music that gets me in the zone. And I might do a quick FaceTime with Kristie Mewis for some last-minute pep talk. I also like letting one of the girls to do my hair, usually Steph."
"Mine's a secret. I'll never tell!"
"Ooh, mysterious!" Caitlin mocks Beth. She's very sassy today.
"What about best memories so far?" I ask. "For me, it's got to be assisting Caitlin's goal in my first game."
"That was a good one." Caitlin smiles at me. "For me, it's just the overall vibe of the team this season. We've had some great wins, and the support from the fans has been unreal. The new addition to the team has also awarded us well."
I smile at Caitlin as she smiles back at me.
"I'd say our team dinners." Beth says. "There's nothing like bonding over good food and laughs after a tough match."
"Okay, more fan questions." I look at the comments. "Who's the funniest in the squad?"
"Definitely her." Beth points to Caitlin. "She's always cracking jokes."
Caitlin laughs "I try! But Beth gives me a run for my money."
"Yeah, it's a close call." I agree. "I just try to keep up."
Beth reads out the next question. "Elena, do you miss anything about Houston? And how does London compare?"
"I miss the warm weather, for sure." I reply. "London's a bit colder, but I'm loving the city. I grew up in a smaller town more up north, so it's different but in a good way."
"And she's learning to love tea. We're converting her back to british slowly." Beth says, poking my arm.
"Oh, yeah. I never tried tea before these guys." I look at the shocked comments. "I know, I know. It's bad, but I'm not very open to trying new things, so the fact I tried it was already good enough."
"What's your favorite part of being on this team?" Caitlin reads aloud. "For me, it's the camaraderie. We're not just teammates; we're like a family."
"I'd say the same. The support we give each other on and off the pitch is something special."
"And winning. Winning with your best friends makes it even sweeter."
"Aww, she said I'm her best friend." I put my arms around Beth and kiss her cheek before she pushes me off her. "See how it feels." I raise my eyebrow.
"Any plans to visit Australia together?" I read out.
"I'd love that!" Caitlin turns to Beth and I, but her eyes are mostly on mine. "I've been trying to convince a few of them to come visit. I think Steph has been asking Els aswell."
"She has yeah." I nod with a laugh.
"Who's the most competitive during training?"
"Me." I look down in shame. "Okay, maybe not most. I think I share the title with Leah though."
"Yeah, she's really competitive." Caitlin agrees.
"Alright, last question before we head back to training." Beth says when Lia comes around the corner and tell us to wrap it up. I notice Caitlin look away from the brunette so, I squeeze her hand under the table. "What's one thing you're looking forward to this season?"
"Getting back on the pitch after the break and just giving it my all. Also, some more goals would be nice." Caitlin replies.
"Same here. And continuing to grow with the team. We've got something special, and I'm excited to see where it takes us." I answer.
"Couldn't agree more, girls. Thanks for the questions, everyone! We'll see you on the pitch!" Beth says before we all wave and she turns off the life. "Did you see how many comments were asking what was up with Els?" Beth laughs.
"Even they could tell I'm hungover." I sniffle, playfully.
"You're fault." Beth tells me with a shrug.
"Umm, no. You're the one that challenged me. You know I never turn down a challenge." I say to her as we begin making our way back oustide.
"Not this again." Caitlin shakes her head.
