It was Halloween, Ava's favorite time of the year to celebrate. It was her favorite because she could be whatever she wanted, without getting judged or made fun of.
She was originally planning on being Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, but she's second guessing her costume because when she looked in the mirror, she thought she looked bad.
"Steve!" Ava yelled from her room, "Come here, i need you!"
Steve walked upstairs, and looked in Ava's room. "Are you seriously being Dorothy?" He questions, wishing she picked something cooler.
"Yeah, why not?" She asks, "But i have a serious question for you." She says, tightening the costume around her waist, "Does this costume make me look fat?" She asks.
Steve scoffed at the fact she even thought that. "Even if it did, which it does not, why would it matter?" He says, fixing her hair a bit, "You look beautiful either way, Ava, no doubt about that, right?" He asks, hoping Ava understands her worth.
"I guess so, it's just i was planning on wearing it to school today." She says. Steve looks at her as if she was a psychopath.
"There's no way you're wearing that to school." He says in a firm tone, "You'll just get embarrassed, no one else will be wearing costumes. And it shows a bit too much skin for my liking, but whatever." He finishes, lightly patting her shoulders.
"Yeah you're probably right." She says, "Can you get out so i can change into normal school clothes?" She asks. Steve just nods, and shuts the door on his way out.

She was riding her bike to her bus stop, in normal clothing. She knew to expect Mike yelling at her for not wearing a costume.
When she gets there, the boys immediately stare at her clothes. A black hoodie, and ripped jeans. "What?" She mumbled, knowing exactly why they were staring.
"What the hell, Ava." Mike says, clearly annoyed.
You know what Mike, i cant go a single day without
"Where's your costume?" Will says, looking at Ava as if he already knew the answer. "I didn't want to wear it to school." She replies with, crossing her arms.
"Well you're lucky that you missed out on Mike and Lucas arguing about their dumb costumes." Dustin says, an annoyed tone in his voice.
"Dumb costumes? You're wearing the same thing Dust." Ava says, holding back a giggle. Dustin looks down at his costume and looks back at Ava with a wide smile, thinking about how funny it is he didn't even realize that.
Ava loves Dustin's smile, mainly because of how cute his face turned when he smiled, and the fact he had no teeth. People made fun of him for it, but she found it adorable.
"Of course we argued, Lucas wasn't supposed to be that!" Mike says. "It doesn't matter anymore Mike, don't make this into another argument." Lucas says, trying to be the bigger person, but it was obvious he wanted to shout at Mike.
The group biked to school and when they were putting their bikes on the rack, a familiar redhead decided to walk over to them.
"Hey guys.." Max said awkwardly, knowing they all saw her in the passenger seat of a car that nearly killed them.
"What do you want?" Mike said. Ava looked at Max but quickly turned away because she remembered the argument they had the day before.
"I wanted to apologize about my brother, he's such a douchebag." She says, looking down at Mike's costume, she couldn't help but giggle.
"What are you laughing about?" Mike says in a sassy tone. "Why are you wearing costumes?" She says, still giggling.
Ava couldn't help but smile at the sound of her giggle, everything about this redhead was perfect.
"Look, we aren't going to sit here and let you laugh at our costumes." Mike says. "Actually, me and Dustin wanted to ask you something." Lucas says, standing in front of Mike.
"Actually, they will tell you later." Ava says, wanting to get away from Max. "Class is about to start." Ava says, looking at Max with a slight grin. "I hope you understand." She finishes, grabbing them all by their shoulders and dragging them along.
Max turned to look at the group walking away, and stared at Ava, frowning. She knew Ava didn't treat her like garbage, but now Max had to fix their relationship before she actually decides to.
Ava was sitting in science, she was early to the class. She decided to take a power nap. Max walked in, and saw Ava asleep, but she didn't mess with her.
Max went to her seat, and stared at the girl, admiring her beauty. Max never felt this way before, and honestly, she didn't like the feeling.
It felt like someone had a hold on your heart, and that person was Ava Harrington. Ava Harrington had a hold on Max Mayfield's heart.
Little did Max know, she had a hold on Ava's heart, too.
Ava woke up, yawned, and popped her knuckles, as well as her neck. Max winced at the sight and sound of Ava cracking her neck, and Ava heard it. She instantly turned around.
"How long have you been sitting there?" Ava said, barely wanting to talk to her. "Not long, i promise." Max says, reassuringly. Class starts in ten minutes, they both were pretty early.
Max moves over to sit next to Ava.
"What?" Ava says, not looking at Max. "I just wanted to apologize for everything i said the other day, i didn't mean any of it. I was just angry about you guys keeping secrets.." Max said, basically spilling her heart out.
"It's fine i g-" Ava was interrupted by, "I'm not finished!" Max says, sassily. "Oh, damn, okay." Ava says, holding back a smile.
"I know this is forward and all, but that kiss.. That i gave to you, i didn't kiss you for it to be meaningless." Max says, sighing. "I wanted it to mean something, it did mean something. At least to me." She finishes, frowning.
Ava blushes, she didn't want Max to admit her feelings in her damn science classroom, but it was whatever.
Max gently grabs Ava's hand, "I really like you, Ava. And i know that i barely know you, but i want to get to know you, i really do." She says, "You seem like a very interesting person.. And very pretty too." She finishes, smiling.
Ava blushes again, at this point her face looked like a tomato.
"Max.. I don't know what to say.." Ava says, her face still a tomato. "You don't have to say anything, i just wanted to tell you." Max says, letting go of Ava's hand.
Ava tucks a piece of hair behind Max's ear, and slides her hand down to Max's jawline, keeping her hand there.
"I really like you too, Max" Ava says, smiling.
Max smiles wide, and puts her hand on Ava's desk, slowly moving forward.
Oh my god is she going to kiss me? Oh my god she's going to kiss me. Ava thinks, having a panic attack in her head.
Before Ava even knew it, Max pressed her lips on Ava's. Max's lips tasted sweet, they had a cinnamon sugar type taste, and Ava wanted more of it.
Ava leaned forward more, sliding her hands from Max's jawline to her waist, pulling Max closer to her.
Max put her hands behind Ava's neck, and kissed her more, too.
Ava broke the kiss just to look into Max's glistening eyes. Ava quickly realized what just happened and blushed immediately.
we just kissed.
