Kate sat across from Buck, this time she wasn't at home. She was in an office being questioned about how different Bobby Nash treats his employees. Except his lawyer didn't have, half the information on her as he did the rest if crew.

Things were made awkward enough for Kate, everyone asking her questions expecting her to have the answers, answers she didn't even have.

"So, you were in the same explosion as Evan, am I correct?" His lawyer asked

"Yes, but I didn't sustain injuries as badly as Evan had. I Sprained my lower  and had a concussion, nothing that wouldn't heal by itself" she explained

"And your captain, he let you back to work after a month right?"

"Yes, but as I said my injuries weren't nearly as severe as Evans. You realize that's completely different than being trapped under a fire truck" Kate restated

Kate resisted the urge to roll her eyes, trying to keep as professional as possible. But her patients was growing thin and he barley even started.

"What about your colleague Howard, he was back within a month of having rebar pulled from his head"

Kate shrugged "I wasn't here for that, I started a little over a year ago."

"Could you disclose, for the record what your relationship is with my client?"

"Well, as of right now we are on Rocky terms. Not that has anything to do with this"

"Would your relationship make you more inclined to agree with your boss about Evan returning to work, after all you'd be worried correct?"

Kate scoffed, cracking her knuckles "I think I can keep a bias perspective. I think I'm getting asked a lot of useless questions so why don't we skip the awkward part and get straight into"

"What do you mean?" He asked

Kate everted her eyes to bucks, she was mad. She was so mad but not just at him, at the whole situation.

"I am the last person in here and by the way each of my friends have left this room I'm gonna assume you asked Eddie about his wife and Bobby about his alcoholism. Now, why don't we talk about why I moved here. Did Evan happen to mention that?" Kate asked, raising a brow

"Briefly, he said you had a bad breakup."

Kate gave a cold laugh "is that it, oh well he forgot the half of it. You see just after Christmas the same day Howard was stabbed, in that same week I didn't go to work I didn't leave my bed, I slept all day and night and wished I wouldn't wake up. You know what captain Nash did, he advised I take a few weeks. Collect myself, make sure I'm really ready to come back. You see he doesn't advice that he doesn't think is right" she explained

She looked at Evan, feeling bad for solely defending Bobby, "do I feel bad that Evan can't work, yes of course I do because this was never just a job and I would love to see him back at work but I trust that captain Nash made the right decision, I trust that he had good reason to"

Kate stood up from the table, "I have nothing else to answer"

Kate left the room, feeling as if she could scream. Reconsidering the idea of that rage room. She stopped when she heard Buck and his lawyer coming behind her, she looked ahead and noticed the elevator with her crew in it.

"Kate" Buck called

"Hey come on" Bobby called

Kate looked back and forth between the two. She huffed, "I'll take the stairs, I could use the exercise"

Kate shut the door behind her, milo rubbed against her leg as she entered. She gave him a quick pet, satisfying his greeting..

Kate dropped her keys in the bowl, she walked down to her room to get changed, stopping at the empty room that was beside hers. It had been a week, a week since he left and she still couldn't get used to it, she missed him more than she'd admit to anyone. The late night conversations and early breakfasts, debating whose car they'd take and who'd cook later in the day.

It felt lonely, she felt lonely. But she was so mad at everyone.

Everyone else had a life to go home to, they all seemed to forget that Buck was hers.

Kate walked into her room, she dropped her phone on her bed and landed beside it, she grabbed her pillow and covered her face screaming loudly into the fabric.

Her phone buzzed against her bed, she groaned and answered

"Hello"

"Hun, you sound like shit" her best friends voice spoke.

"Okay, hold on. I'm gonna FaceTime you"

Kate moved to her laptop, she hung up the phone and clicked mollys name on her laptop. It barely rang before her face showed up.

"Oh shit, you look worse" Molly joked

"I just got home from a lawyers office because my stupid boyfriend is suing by stupid boss"

"Oh.. now you see I can't tell you the good news after that"

Kate managed a smile, Molly always knew how to cheer her up  "I could use it, what's up?"

"Well.. you see I was feeling sick for that last week or so and I wasn't really hungry and then I felt like could eat a horse and I missed my period and-

Kate gasped, her hands covered her mouth "no way, this isn't a funny joke"

"Kate I'm pregnant... Again"

Kate felt the tears well her eyes, she sniffled quietly.

"Don't you dare, you'll set me off" Molly warned

Kate laughed, she wiped her eyes and wished she was able to squeeze her arms around her best friend "I really needed that"

"I'm glad my unborn child can be of service" Molly joked

"My life is rocketing downward right now, I'll take what I can get"

"What's going on?" She asked

"Buck moved out.. well not technically but he's not here and I can't talk to him because of his the law suit and I can't talk to my friends because they ask about Buck and I feel like I'm a child in between two divorced parents" she ranted, Molly was the only person she could talk to and the only person she wanted to

"Aww, I'm sorry" she frowned

"Tensions are just so high, I mean we just saved a kid from choking on a key because he got trapped in some machine that the owner could have turned of and my Captain almost fought him" Kate explained

"Maybe you should talk to them all. Explain how you feel"

"Maybe" Kate sighed, she put on a smile and brushed away her problems "anyway, tell me everything. When are you due, how far along are you. Do you have a preferred gender" Kate asked a list of questions

"I have all the answers ready"

...

"Okay, listen up. Last couple times we were here, mistakes were made. That is not gonna happen again." Bobby announced outside the supermarket

It was time for their weekly shop, Kate usually didn't mind but given the circumstances she would much rather be at home ignoring her problems.

"That is why I am pairing you up on your assignments. Eddie, Lena and Kate, you are on meats and deli. Nothing leaner than 92% Hen, Chimney, baking aisle. Unrefined flour this time. Thank you. I will cover fruits and vegetables. Once you have everything on your list, we will reconvene at the dairy case. Let's move!"

Kate followed lena and Eddie into the shop, she kept quiet, afraid she'd say something that sounded rude. With her moods lately, no matter what she said it sounded like an insult.

Besides with the way things were going lately, Kate was pretty distant from Eddie due to his frustration about Buck. Kate was pretty distant with everyone, they only asked about the case as if she knew more then them.

Lena and Eddie were deep in conversation, Kate ended up wandering to a different isle. She had to look twice when she saw Buck stranded in the middle of it

"Buck" she said, walking over to him

"Hey, I uh.. I came here to apologize to everyone. I didn't think I'd see you so soon"

"What are you doing here. You think this will actually work?" Kate questioned, sounding more mad than she intended.

"I'm sorry I really am.."

"You shouldn't have done it Buckley. Why are you still doing it?"

"Buck" Hen called,

Buck turned around, facing them with an innocent smile  "hey, uh, you guys. What's up?"

Kate slipped by him, she stood in the middle... ironically.

"What are you doing here?" Bobby asked

"Me, I'm just here to-- to do some-- some shopping." He stammered nervously

"Eight miles from your apartment?" Chimney inquired

"Yeah, well, this is the only place that has... Happy Cat laxative powder."

"You're buying cat laxative?"

"Yeah, I've been thinking of, uh, of getting a cat" Buck lied, horribly

Kate so badly wanted to step in, at least she had a cat - it could have worked as a better excuse but she just couldn't.

"And you're anticipating your new cat will be irregular."

"Was this your doing?" Eddie asked Kate, she could feel the glare that lay under his glasses

"No. No it wasn't" Kate replied dryly

"No, Um Listen, I--I came here to apologize. Okay, I--I never meant for things to get so out of hand with the lawsuit and—.."

"Yeah? What'd you think was gonna happen?" Eddie asked, taking a step closer to Buck "The lawsuit's bad enough, but you told your lawyer everything about us-- personal things"  he fumed, everyone was stunned silent

"You're supposed to be truthful with your lawyer. Why are you so pissed at me?" He asked, maybe it wasn't the best question to ask

"Because you're exhausting!" He exclaimed, "We all have our own problems, but you don't see us whining about it. No, somehow, we just manage to suck it up. Why can't you?"

"That's kinda harsh. It's not like the guy asked to be crushed by a ladder truck." Chimney defended

"No, but he filed a stupid lawsuit, and now I can't even talk to you because of it. You know how much Christopher misses you? How could you? You're not around." He argued

"I--I didn't realize that. Maybe I can come and visit Christopher. You know the lawsuit doesn't prevent that.

"No, it prevents me from reaching out to you. I couldn't even call you to bail me out of jail!" He yelled.

Everyone looked at him confused, Eddie quickly backtracked "If that was something that happened."

"Look, man, why can't you see my side of this?"

"Cause that's all you see."

"That's enough!" Kate yelled, all eyes landed on her; she suddenly felt embarrassed

"You brought him here" Eddie muttered

Kate rolled her eyes, she felt the embarrassment from seconds ago quickly turn into anger.

"No I didn't!" She shouted, stunning Eddie "I haven't talked to him in days, you know what I haven't talk to Anyone in days because you are all mad at him and he's mad at himself. Not one of you has stopped to ask me anything, but any news on Buck, oh is he dropping the case, oh can you talk to him. No! No I don't know anything, I don't know if he's dropping the case and no I CANT talk to him"

"Kate-..

"You all have lives to go home to, Eddie has Chris, hen has Karen, Bobby has Athena and chimney has Maddie. You know what I had, I had Buck and now I don't and none of you even care, all you seem to focus On is making me chose between my boyfriend and my friends. Well here's something for you, I chose neither"

Kate threw the groceries into the cart, storming out of the shop. The small breeze blew against her skin, tears threatened to fall but she refused to cry right now

She stepped out onto the rode, a car came flying past her

"What the fuck!" She yelled, flailing her arms "you stupid-

Two cars crashed into each other, this caused the car in front to crash into a fire hydrant, the water began to rise and the car went with it.

Bobby came hurrying out along with the rest, he gave orders and everyone followed. Including Kate, despite her want to kill everyone.

Kate once again was left to come home to an empty apartment, she walked in and was met with a mixture of scents, she looked to her right and noticed the dinner cooking.

"Hey" Buck walked from the hallway, "I felt really bad for today so I wanted to cook dinner and apologize"

Kate dropped her keys in the bowl, she stood at the door and looked at her boyfriend unsure of how to respond.

"Can you say something?" Buck asked, he sounded worried

Kate sighed, "Have you any idea how hard the last week has been. I don't want to sound selfish because you got severally injured in that truck and I have gone months feeling guilty that I didn't. You were mad at Bobby and I get that but you sued the place I work at, the place I love just as much as you"

Buck stayed quiet, assuming she wasn't finished; not blaming her for being mad.

"Being there without you has been torture, coming home without has been torture, going into that station and having everyone ask me everything about the case as if I know more has been torture. Eddie won't even talk to me, he got arrested and couldn't even ring me to bail him out. Chimney keeps asking about the case and Bobby is trying his hardest to keep things calm." Kate ranted, "I am miserable because you felt left out-..

"It was more Than that I-.."

Kate held up her hand, stopping him "Bobby was going to let you come back when he felt it was right. When he felt you would be safe to work. You couldn't have just waited

"Kate I'm sorry, I was mad and.. and I didn't think but I stopped and Bobby's letting me back. All I care about is you" he stammered, "you said today you chose neither.. what did that mean"

"Im choosing myself Evan. I won't be made chose between my friends or my boyfriend and all week I have felt nothing but that." She said, she felt guilty for not taking his apology and she felt selfish. All Kate wanted to do was kiss him and invite him with open arms.

Buck walked over to her, he took her smooth hands in his and held onto them with hope "I'm so sorry for making you feel so isolated from everyone. I didn't think about that when I wanted to sue, In fact I'm sure I even wanted to. It just happened and when I heard that lawyer dragging everyone's name through the dirt I knew I made the wrong decision"

"You can stay here, your rooms always there but I need more time. I'm sorry I just- I'm so mad at everyone right now I can't tell if it's directed at you or at them. I love you but I just need some time to process how I feel okay"

"Okay" he nodded, Buck hated how things had changed in a matter of days but he had to respect Kates decision. He did a bad thing and he knew bad consequences would come with it
