( 027. 'the fair' )

THE FAIR WAS CROWDED with the sound of carnival music and the buzz of excited voices as the group made their way into the fairground. the air smelled of cotton candy and caramel apples, and everywhere they looked, there were twinkling lights—bright reds, yellows, and greens—it was so pretty. the ferris wheel was overhead as the group walked in, a giant wheel of color, while the sounds of laughter, clinking coins, and a excited scream from the roller coaster mixed with the sweet melodies from the carnival booths.

"ok who wants to play ringtoss?" charlie asked, pointing to a booth where small stuffed animals were hung in rows, beckoning them to win.

"ring toss? please. i'm way better at the water guns," aryan shot back, pushing his black sunglasses up his nose. he was the first to dart toward the booth where a long line of water guns aimed at targets stood waiting.

blake and mason were behind everyone, walking at a slower pace as they casually observed the group. blake's hand was holding into mason's, her fingers resting comfortably in the palm of his hand. she didn't say much, but there was a light in her eyes—a look that spoke volumes about what she had been hiding from everyone. 

ariella looked away from her sister, turning her attention back to walker, who was standing beside her, his hand brushing gently against hers as they made their way through the crowds.

"do you want to do the bumper cars again?" she asked, looking up at him with a playful glint in her eyes.

"after what happened last time? ari you literally hit everyone with the cars, even the little kids." he replied, walking behind her with his arms wrapped around her neck. (do yall get what im saying or what???)

ariella laughed, their connection had never felt stronger, not since they'd taken the time to talk things through. the argument was long gone now, and they had fallen back into the familiar rhythm of them being together, walkella was sooo back.

as they walked through the fair, the group split off in different directions. walker and ariella went toward a carnival game booth that had a huge display of plush animals hanging from the ceiling. ariella looked up and saw the cutest pig dressed as a cow. 

"do you want it?" walker asked, seeing her look at the teddy bear with awe. the way she looked at it was so cute, he just had to get it for her. 

ariella raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "omg walkie yes yes yes!"

"ok i gotchu ari" he said, smiling. he reached into his pocket for money and handed it over to the game operator. the goal was simple: toss a ring over the top of a bottle. 

ariella watched as walker focused on the bottles in front of him, his brow furrowed in concentration. he wasn't just trying to win a bear—he was trying to win her a bear. she couldn't help but smile, plus he literally looked so cuteeee!! 

on the first try, walker perfectly threw the rings onto the bottles, 3 in a row. "congratulations!" the attendant said, handing walker the biggest bear in the booth. it was nearly as tall as ariella herself.

"here you goo" walker said, grinning widely as he handed the bear to ariella. she looked up at him cheesing, grabbing the bear and hugging it. her eyes lighting up as she took the bear from him. she teased, holding the bear out in front of her. "It's almost as big as you."

"i think it's bigger than me," he replied, standing next to her with a chuckle. she gave him a playful shove, her heart warmed by the sweetness of the gesture. "thank you walkie. i love it."

after a few rounds of the games and some snacks—cotton candy and corn dogs, of course—the group began to gather by the giant ferris wheel. it was the perfect way to end the night. the colors of the wheel lit up, casting a warm glow on everything around them. the air was cool, and the laughter from the group echoed in the background as they lined up for their turn.

as they approached the ride, walker's hand found ariella's, and she glanced down at the teddy bear in her other arm. "i'm not sure what to do with this," she said with a laugh. "should i take it on the ferris wheel?"

walker smiled, squeezing her hand. "i'm sure it'll be fine. you look adorable holding it anyway."

she rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile. she tucked the bear under her arm as they got on the ferris wheel. the big bear sitting beside her & walkie took up half the sit "see? i told you i'd win you something," walker said, looking at her, the red lights on her face made her look absolutely gorgeous. 

"yeah, well, now you've got to take care of it, its our kid" ariella smiled, glancing at the giant teddy bear.

walker laughed. "i can do that, im going to be the best parent ever" he said, laying his head on ariella "hes going to love my house."

ariella smiled warmly at him, they rode in silence for a while, and they could still hear their friends, specifically aryan laughing below.  the night view was stunning—the fairgrounds below were illuminated with colorful lights, the ferris wheel's glow casting a soft warmth over everything.

"it's beautiful," ariella whispered, looking at the skyline view of the city.

"indeed it is" walker replied softly, looking at ariella. his voice hushed with sincerity. he reached for her hand, gently rubbing his thumb over her knuckles.

she leaned into him, the softness of his shoulder against her head comforting. "i missed this," she whispered.

walker's heart swelled as he looked at her, his hand brushing against her cheek. "me too. more than you know."

and then, as the ferris wheel slowly started to descend, the world seemed to fall away. with a gentle smile, walker leaned toward her, closing the distance between them, and kissed her softly.

when they pulled away, ariella smiled softly, her heart racing. "i have so much rizz," she laughed.

"ariella what the hell."
