PERSONALITY

β€’β€’β€’

Prescott is complicated. Moody. And absolutely the kind of person who fucking does whatever the hell he wants. Unlike his sister, Cott is reserved and mostly tries to mind his own business. But of course, cannot keep it that way. He is like his sister in some ways. Prefers to be alone or with the closest of his friends. But there are a few things both the siblings have in common. For example, curiosity. Perhaps the way his mind works is entirely different than the way of his sister, they both are the one who doesn't know how to give up. Or back off from a challenge. He is more based on logic β€” not living in any sort of fantasy like his sister β€” and tries to think one step ahead of everyone. Everything. Absolutely reckless and daring at times no one would ever expect him to be. He has a surprise factor and the reason his image is like a person no one expects much from, he could prove himself worthy of every effort and trust.

In nature, Cott is a bit aggressive and hates being humoured around. He is the one person who cannot take a joke if the joke is not funny for him. Or, well, it depends on his mood. He hates socialising, meeting new people. Everytime he meets a new person he feels like dying, feels suffocated around unknown crowd. That being said, he hates the idea of moving out of the town because he knows if he did, he would not be able to survive. According to Prescott, a family is the only possession one could have for lifelong, rest, just come and go. Yes, there are people who stay a little longer but the longer they stay, the more they destroy you, because you get used to them. And when they finally decide to move on and leave you all alone, no matter the reason, all you have got is this void in your heart, that no one would ever be able to fill.

But, with everything he does to push everyone away, he is actually the person who is in need for something real. Something he would never lose. He doesn't know what that particular thing could be but he is looking, still searching. When I say reserved, I'm not saying he is completely closed off. No, not all. There is a difference. Cott could easily get along people, and could initiate a good intellectual conversation, if he finds the person genuine and worth his loyalty. Because Prescott doesn't know the definition of betrayal. His promises, commitments, and resolutions are not fake. He mean all of them, with all his heart. And would do everything in his power to prove himself worthy of your affection and trust. Faith. He even could be flirty, and doesn't mind approaching someone he likes. The only conditions...? He just wants that person to like him back, because if they don't, he just sinks deeper into his shell. Not good for his already crumbling confidence.

BACKSTORY

β€’β€’β€’

Prescott's childhood had been fairly normal. However, just like everyone in his family, the biggest shock of his life arrived too when the family of his paternal aunt died in a plane crash. In that accident, Cott lost his cousin - Darius - who was of the same age as his. He was barely able to come in terms with the loss when his sister moved away for five years and he had no one to share his room and heart with. Nevertheless, the time passed and he got used to her absence eventually. Slowly but surely, he started drifting away from his family. At the age of fourteen, he was crushing on one of his friends in school. But he was yet to come out of his closet, and did not know how to approach his family about that. It wasn't like Geff and Ash - his parents - were too strict and he thought they would never respect his choices, it was just his internal war with himself, he could never bring himself to come out in open.

By the age of sixteen, Prescott was completely changed. From a jovial and happy kid, he became more reserved and solemn. No jokes, no puns in his life. Sad life, really! Although he did enjoy family get together nonetheless. After five years, when Tina returned home, Cott wasn't sure how be himself around her. She was changed.
She was all grown up now. And a part of him was absolutely terrified just by thinking, she would see the changes in him and would be disappointed. Soon she would fall in love with someone and would get married. And would eventually move away from him.
Then what was even the use of reducing this awkward distance between them? Hence, he kept everything to himself.
