GLISTENING DIAMONDS.
069. ❛ baby mountain goats. ❜
"YOU LOOK LIKE SHIT," That was the first thing Mj commented after looking at her best friend who had on sunglasses to hide the dark circles under her eyes.
"I know, M," Diana responded rolling her eyes. Leaning against the wall of the hotel while they waited for the rest of the students, she grabbed Mj's coffee from her hand and took a sip before handing it back.
"Good news! We're going to Prague," Mr. Harrington said as he stepped out of the hotel. A series of 'what' was heard from the students. "Yeah. Tour company called, they upgraded us. You should've heard me on the phone with them. I really gave them hell," He continued sounding proud of himself.
"All I heard was crying," Mr. Dell added with hands on his hips.
"Look at our upgrade and ride," Mr. Harrington pointed out towards the car the tour company had provided the students. The students ascended the bus one by one excited about the upgrade they had been provided.
DIANA HAD ONLY GOTTEN three hours of sleep on the bus before she woke up and sparked a conversation with Mj for the next hour. The bus pulled over into a rest stop for everyone to relieve themselves and freshen up.
Peter and Diana were the last to file out out of the bus. Peter got stopped by Dimitri, before getting pointed to a bar that was a few feet away. In the doorway, stood a lean woman dressed in all black. She stared at Peter before moving further inside the bar. Diana squinted towards the doorway, missing the woman, and got confused.
Peter nervously glanced at Diana before following directions and heading for the bar.
"Am I supposed to go with him?" Diana asked. Dimitri shook his head before pointing back up onto the bus, "Bag under driver's seat. Take it."
Her brows furrowed in question, but she didn't bother to speak it. Heading back into the bus, she reached under the seat and pulled out a small duffle bag. She unzipped it and pulling it open.
Inside, another suit was roughly folded up. Tears brimmed in Diana's eyes as she gingerly reached in, as if the fabric was made of glass and pulled it out with slow movements. It was one of Natasha's old Black Widow suit.
Diana wiped her eyes and exited the bus, nodding stiffly at Dimitri, signaling she got the suit. Dimitri nodded back slowly before Brad jogged up to her, waving his phone.
"Hey, yo, Diana! There's something you need to see!" She cocked an eyebrow before Mr. Harrington stepped out of the washroom, blocking Brad.
"Okay! Everybody put their foot in front of the other and get on the bus!" Mr. Dells called out, exiting the washrooms. Peter clenched his jaw, glaring as Brad entered the bus.
PETER QUICKLY POPPED HIS head from around the seat, glancing at Brad with wide eyes. Pushing his back to the seat, he let out a shaky breath before slipping on his new Stark glasses.
"EDITH?" Peter said quietly, glancing at Diana seeing her too busy talking with Mj.
"Hello, Peter. How can I help you?"
"H-Hey. There's this guy in my class who's kinda got a thing for Ana..." Peter's voice lowered as he ranted on. "He said he was gonna show her a photo of me and say I'm cheating on her and she might believe it because of our argument and—"
"Peter, I'm having difficulty hearing you. Can you please speak up?" the AI responded and his eyes widened slightly.
"Um, Brad Davis." Peter blurted, "He has a photo of me?"
"Brad Davis. Is he a target?" she asked before Peter glanced back at him again.
"Is he a target?" Peter pushed his back into his seat once more, nodding his head, "Yeah, yeah. He's a target. He's a target."
"Copy that." The glasses displayed Brad's photo and other videos of him. Behind everything, Dimitri gave Peter a strange look before focusing forwards again. "Target is Brad Davis. Initiating strike."
Peter, perked his head up. "Initiating what now?"
"Intercepting point determined. Releasing kill vehicle."
"EDITH—" Peter blinked, opening and closing his mouth a few times. Glancing at Diana again, he found her shaking with laughter as Mj spoke about something.
Peter's body suddenly froze, his eyes caught a drone headed straight towards the bus from behind.
Flash suddenly snatched his sunglasses away. "Nice sunglasses, Parker," he slipped them on. "How'd you pay for these?"
"Give them back, Flash!" Peter spat, slapping his arm, "Give them back!"
Flash laughed, playfully fighting off Peter's hits. Peter gritted his teeth, slapping Flash unconscious by accident.
He flopped back in his chair, landing on his backpack. Peter's eyes flew wide open as he slapped a hand against his mouth in shock. "I'm so sorry!" Peter whispered, grabbing the glasses from him before putting them back on. "EDITH! Don't kill Brad!"
"Peter, do you want me to cancel the drone strike on Brad Davis?" she asked in return as Brad got up from his seat.
"Did you just punch Flash?" a female student asked, looking up at Peter with a raised eyebrow.
"N-No!" Peter blurted, shaking his head at her.
"Firing."
Peter slung a web at the steering wheel, pulling it across the road. The drone shot at the bus, missing Brad and shooting the side mirror off.
Everyone on the bus fell out of their seats or knocked into the window. Dimitri swerved the bus back onto the lane, hitting the bus against the metal railing.
Diana peaked her head over the seat then looked back at Mj, "What do you think's going on up there?"
"EDITH!" Peter gasped when he stood, only to realize his glasses to be off his face. Looking around, he spotted them on the steps.
"Commencing second strike."
"Peter, find your fanny in that seat and buckle up right now!" Mr. Harrington ordered and Peter shot out his hand, pointing towards the window.
"Look at the baby mountain goats!" he cried before everyone turned excitingly.
As Diana finally looked up, she watched Peter jump out of the top hatch of the bus, shoot down something and slip back into the vehicle in one fluid motion.
Everyone turned back at Peter as he landed on his feet. "I don't see any mountain goats." Mr. Harrington said with disappointment in his words.
Peter nodded, he was out of breath and his hair was askew, "You missed them."
"I know you think none of us have noticed Peter..." Betty spoke up, giving him a suspicious look.
Peter blinked, leaning forward, "What?"
"But your new look...I love it." Betty smiled, nodding proudly at him. "Right babe?"
"Right. Sophisticated, classy, very European." Ned agreed with her automatically.
Peter let out a breath, falling into the seat with his head hitting the seat. He blinked a few times, body frozen with shock. "Let's try that again," Peter nodded, eyes closed as he caught his breath.
Diana was still trying to recover from what she had just seen Peter do when Brad approached her, kneeling down beside her. "Hey, Diana can I show you something?" He asked with his phone in hand.
"Um, sure," Diana responded leaning over to see what the boy was trying to show her. He seemed to be struggling to find whatever it was that he meant to show her.
"Uh, this is so weird," He said scrolling through his gallery. "It was right here on my phone I-I," Brad stuttered feeling rather embarrassed.
Diana looked up raising an eyebrow at Peter who was looking over at the pair, "Yeah... weird."
