GLISTENING DIAMONDS.
CLINT GRABBED DIANA'S leg and held onto a grappling hook lodged into the stone, keeping them from falling. Diana sucked in a deep breath as they slammed against the edge of the cliff. Both of them were hanging dangerously off the cliff and their hearts were racing.
Diana looked up at Clint with enraged eyes, "Let me go, Clint!"
"Not an option!" He yelled back before looking up where Natasha was supposed to be, "Pull us up, Nat!"
Diana's eyes widened and all-time froze as a body was hurtled off the side of the cliff, tumbling past the two teammates hanging off the edge.
"Diana, wake up."
Natasha's bright red hair shone brightly and Diana shot her grappling hook at her hand. Natasha grunted from the force and looked up at the girl who struggled to hold on to the Russian.
"Damn you!" Diana yelled with a shaky voice, tears blurring her vision as she stared at Natasha.
Natasha looked up softly, the strain on her arm sending a flooding pain throughout her body, "It's okay. Let me go."
"It's not real, Diana."
"You're fucking crazy," Diana whispered and shook her head, ignoring the massive blood rush to her head.
Natasha gave the girl a broken smile and pulled out a knife, holding it to the wire, "I know someday I'm gonna be with you."
"Nat," Diana's lips quivered, "Please."
"I love you."
And just like that, Natasha Romanoff fell like a marionette whose strings were cut.
"DIANA, WAKE UP!"
Diana screamed at the top of her lungs as Natasha plummeted down and hit the rocks with a crash. She could feel Clint grabbing her ankle tighter, trying to keep them from falling—
Diana gasped and shot up when she felt ice-cold water hit her face. Tears streamed down her cheeks, her chest heaved up and down with deep breaths, and her crazed eyes glanced all-around anxiously.
When a cold vibranium hand touched her exposed shoulder and she jerked away and pushed the man to the floor, holding both hands to his neck tightly.
Bucky gasped for air and tapped her arm harshly. He saw the green, harsh, dazed eyes glaring down at him and he recognized them. He once had that exact look in his eyes. He knew he couldn't throw the girl off of him because it would only make situations worse so he tried to fully wake her up.
"Snap out of it, Diana!" Bucky said sternly albeit hoarsely from the pressure on his neck, he tried to pry her hands off of his neck in the process without agitating her.
Diana blinked rapidly and her eyes switched to scared and frail within seconds. She looked down at Bucky's steel-blue eyes and scrambled back into the corner of the room. She pulled her legs up to her chest and shook with every breath she took.
Bucky coughed and sat up, rubbing his neck softly. He looked at the scared girl and slowly crept towards her, "Breathe, Diana."
The girl backed up further into the corner and shook her head, "No. Don't come any closer. I could hurt you again. I don't want you to be scared of me, I don't want you to leave me too."
Bucky's eyes softened and looked at the girl with sadness, taking in her appearance. Her green eyes were brimming with tears, her cheeks were flushed red, and her newly painted red hair was pulled back messily.
It had been eight months since they started living together in Brooklyn. Bucky had helped the girl dye her hair red when she asked him, telling him that she wanted to do it for Natasha and it made his heart melt.
"You're never going to lose me, Diana. Now, I know you probably don't believe it, but you won't." He sat down in front of her and took her trembling hands in his. "Now, I need you to focus, okay? Look around you, tell me five things you can see."
Diana gulped and nodded, looking around the room, "Uh, I um... I see Steve's brown jacket, you're uh... your boots, my pink pillow, the picture of me and Peter, and... and Nat's ballet shoes."
Bucky smiled softly and nodded, "Good, now four things you can feel."
Diana's breathing started to slow down as she tried to think, "Uh... the cold wood on the floor, your vibranium hand, my-my shirt, and the soft blanket."
"Great, you're doing great." Bucky said encouragingly and softly let his thumbs run over her hands to calm her down more, "What are three things you can hear?"
Diana shut her eyes and listened, "Your breathing, the news channel, and the... the neighbors laughing next door."
"Okay," Bucky nodded, "Two things you can smell."
Diana's breathing was back to normal now as she tried to do what Bucky said, "Your faint cologne and the coffee from the kitchen."
"Now one thing you can taste."
"Am I supposed to say oxygen or something?" Diana laughed quietly and looked into Bucky's eyes, "Cause I would sound like a moron if I did."
Bucky chuckled and grinned widely, "Very funny. You know, you really remind me of my sister."
Diana's eyes lit up and she forgot all about her nightmare, "You have a sister?"
Bucky nodded and his smile faltered slightly, "I did. Her name was Rebecca, Rebecca Barnes. She loved chocolate and had a weird sense of humor. There was this one time where Steve and I were about to graduate until Becca's dog, Callie, crashed it and she was running all over the place trying to catch the dog."
Bucky laughed and shook his head, a distant look in his eyes, "We, fortunately, did graduate and Callie was in big trouble with our mom."
Diana smiled and slowly stood up, Bucky following in suit, "I wish I could've met her, I think we'd get along nicely."
Bucky nodded, "Yeah. Hey, I'm going on my morning run right now, care to join?"
Diana shook her head, fixing her red hair, "No, my legs hurt from yesterday, I'm gonna go get some fresh air though."
Bucky nodded and saw that she was wearing a muscle shirt and joggers, "Just take a jacket or something, it's pretty fresh outside and I don't want you getting sick. I'll go broke from buying chocolate again if you do."
Diana laughed and nodded, saluting up at the man, "Will do, Sergeant Barnes."
Bucky laughed and pushed her shoulder causing Diana to laugh harder, "Enough."
