[007]

Your head was spinning so you decided to lay your head down for the mean time, obviously looking up at the teacher every once in a while so she wouldn't notice.

"Nathaniel! What are you doing?!" Yelling, she marched up towards the boy and grabbed the paper from his desk, "These artistic endeavors are clearly why you're failing science."

"I'm sorry." Nathaniel apologized, making you feel bad for him.

"You go march yourself down to the principals office and show him that chicken scratch! Then you'll actually be sorry."

Nathaniel hurriedly packed his stuff and headed towards the door but fell to the floor when he stumbled on someone's bag. Embarrassing him more further, his sketchbook fell and opened on the specific page of him and Marinette drawn together. Chloe quickly took notice and went down to grab his sketchbook, already doing her usual routine.

"Look Sabrina, it's him as a superhero. Look who he's saving, it's Marinette! He's totally got a huge crush on you Marinette." She laughed, showing Sabrina the drawing.

You saw how his face immediately went red in embarrassment, "give me that!"

He snatched the sketchbook off of her hands, making the teacher more annoyed. "Enough! Go to the principals office, now!" She shouted.

After Nathaniel left, the teacher announced that you'd all be having a project and that she'd be the one choosing them.

"The next particle physics presentation group will be Nino, Adrien, and Alya."

You let out a quiet sigh. You were hoping to at least have a single friend on your group, but instead three of your friends were in the group you sorta now wanted to be in.

"And then, Sabrina, Chloe, and Marinette," the teacher said.

After a few moments passed byโ€”and after Chloe's complaining, the teacher spoke up again.

"Wait. Almost forgot. Y/n you're part of their group too," She added.

Whatever Chloe complained about came to end as soon as she heard your name, "Yay! Don't worry n/n, we'll have like so much fun!"

Before you could mutter a sentence, the bell rung. You weren't disappointed, despite Chloe being on your group, mainly because Marinette was a good friend of yours. She was incredibly sweet and smart, just simply a very easy person to work with. So, when you left the classroom you made sure to wait up for her so you guys could plan the group project.

You weren't surprised that both Marinette and Alya were coming out the classroom together so you greeted them both.

"Hey, you guys." You greeted.

They both seemed shocked, though Marinette's surprise seemed more aggressive as she nearly fell to the ground.

"H-Hey! Sogladyourinmygroupevenifitswithchloe!" She spoke so fast that you couldn't comprehend what she said, making you quirk a brow in confusion.

Laughing, the girl besides her corrected her, "She's just happy you're on her group."

You nod as you let out a small laugh and suggested that you both meet your partners at the lockers room, which Chloe told you she'd wait for you there, and she nodded (furiously). Meanwhile Alya gave you a small grin before heading to where Adrien and Nino were at.

โ€”

"I don't have time to work on some dumb project, besides you have Marinette to work with you," Chloe said, slamming her locker.

"That's fine, Chloe! We'll get to work no worries." Sabrina replied.

You walk towards the blonde, an annoyed look on your face, "what do you mean you're not doing anything?"

"Exactly what you heard, n/n! Lets ditch these losers and go get something to eat."

She looked at you, before giving a glare at the blunette.

Suddenly, the cheery voice spoke beside you, "Y/n and I are both going to the library to work on the project, Sabrina can join too."

After a few moments of arguing, Chloe finally decided to go join you three at the library; although you were hoping she wouldn't.

"What do you mean you won't do my assignment?!?" Chloe retorted.

"Marinette's right! I-I'm not your slave!"

You stifle a laugh before giving a sympathetic look to Marinette, making her nearly fall off her seat. Though she composed herself almost immediately.

"But Marinette didn't buy a super cute beret at Gabriel's and I did. Perhaps I could lend it to you,"

Bewildered, Marinette spoke up, "Are you tryna bribe her to stay your friend? With a hat?"

You nearly laughed, but put a hand over your mouth to stop it.

"An adorbs hat! That would look fantastic on me," Sabrina admired, squealing silently.

As Chloe continued complaining, tons of berets fell on her and she let out a loud scream. To make the situation worse, a big hairdryer followed her and seemed to only target her as it ran after her.

Taking advantage that Marinette was in shock and Sabrina ran after Chloe, you silently walked away to a more secure area to transform.

Once you got to where the hairdryer was, ladybug was already on top of itโ€”riding it like a bull. Trying to get the heroine off of it, you jumped with your staff extended to stab through it, missing terribly as it went ahead. Ladybug noticing this, wrapped her yo-yo around the nearest pole; making her spin in circles until the hairdryer fell. Trying to stab through it again, it suddenly disappeared, making you look up to see the villain behind it.

"Dude's a bit sketchy, don't you think?"

You sent a wink to the heroine as you said that corny joke, making her frown.

You guys jump towards him before he could escape but his drawing made it impossible to go through and you both went crashing on the floor. "Where'd he go?" She asked, making it harder for you to prevent the next corny joke that was coming, "Don't know but he sure does have a great way to illustrate his point." Laughing, you sent her another playful wink.

โ€”

"Villain's after you, Chloe. Any idea why?" You knew.

Chloe let out a small scoff before turning up to look up at you both, "No, everyone adores me."

"Yeah, because you're so adorable." rolling her eyes, Ladybug spoke; her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Chloe immediately got up from the couch, "Yes!! Ladybug said I'm adorable!" She whipped out her phone and sprinted towards the heroine. "We totally need to have a pic together."

Ladybug grimaced, walking away from the blonde, "Well that was unpleasant."

"Well I look fabulous, of course, but your smile's a little wonky. Let's take another!" She wrapped her arm around the heroine's shoulder, smiling at the camera. Instantly, Ladybug removed her arm and walked away. "Sorry, camera shy."

You gave her a skeptical look as you walked up to her, "What's up with you? You're being weird."

Ladybug ignored you as she picked up the drawing from the couch, you recalled being from the boy who liked Marinette, and groaned. "Seriously?" She let go of the paper and it slowly fell to the ground.

"Whatever, let's go." She grumbled, doing a silly pose as she walked away angrily.

You walked behind her, a bewildered expression on your face. "What? What about Chloe?"

The heroine didn't look at you as she opened the windows that led towards the balcony, "You can stay, I'm leaving."

Before she could jump off, you grabbed her arm that held her yo-yo. Despite her deadly glare, you spoke up.

"Are you kidding? If we let her get attacked, we're just as bad as the villain who wants to attack her!" You reasoned. You soon you let go of her hand when her glare fell. Nodding, Ladybug spoke up again, "Okay. But I can't stay here with her, I'll go ahead and try to find out where the villain's akuma is at."

Though you were against the idea, you let out a small sigh as you looked at the heroine flying away. You didn't exactly like Chloe, but she was citizen you were prioritized to save; whether you liked it or not.

"Ah! Bye Ladybug! Send me a text!"

You let out a huff of laughter at that, "C'mon sit down, distract yourself or something. We'll be here for a long time."

She let out a groan as she walked back inside.

You were currently walking impatiently, hoping to hear news so that you could successfully meet Marinette to help work on the project in time. You stopped walking when you heard your staff ring, and picked it up.

"Calling already, bug? Having trouble or...?" You answered.

"Sorry, kitty. What I did wasn't cool, but you can leave Chloe now. She doesn't need protection so I need you to protect this girl instead."

You pulled your staff away from your ear so you could see the photo the heroine sent you. Your eyes went wide when you saw the girl. Marinette.

"Her name's Marinette. Cute isn't she? Well the Evillustrator is in love with her. He promised not to attack Chloe if she tagged along on his birthday party. While he's distracted, take him down."

Your brows furrowed in confusion, "What about you? This girl could need more than my protection."

"I'm going on a secret mission, I'll catch up with you later. Can you handle it alone?"

After seconds of hesitation, you spoke up again, "Yeah, no worries."

After hanging up, you immediately went to the Dupain-Cheng's houseโ€”already seeing an upset Sabrina walking away when you landed near the entrance.

"Wow. What'd you do to make her mad? Anyway, besides that, I'm Chatรณn Noire." You introduced, giving her a small wink.

"Y-Yeah, I'm aware. You're the hero who kinda saves the day and stuff. I'm Marinette. So what are you doing here?"

"Well, a villain is after you. It's my job to look after you. I'll make sure you're safe, don't worry." You explained, a wide smile on your face.

She nodded as she politely smiled at you, "That puts my mind on ease."

"Well I need you to do something as well for me as well. Just take the villain's pencil from him, I'll deal with the rest."

โ€”

Jumping from building to building, you finally caught sight of the boat both Marinette and the Evillustrator were sitting on.

"I draw a little too, just not as good as you." Marinette said.

"I'm sure you're a wonderful artist."

"Well can I draw you something for your birthday?" As she spoke, she signaled you with her hands.

Marinette grabbed his pencil meanwhile you walked back with your staff on your hands, though you weren't careful enough as the Evillustrator saw you on the corner of his eyes.

"Marinette, let go of the pencil. I need to draw something. Now!"

"No, I'm keeping it." Running, she called for you. "Chatรณn Noire!"

Before the villain could grab her, you extended your staff in front of him.

"Marinette? You're working with her?! I'm so stupid. Here I thought you liked me! But you're just like Chloe. Teasing me, mocking me, leading me on!"

His shouting came to an end, as Marinette stomped her foot in disbelief, "Come on, seriously?! Why am I being compared to Chloe today."

As Evillustrator kicked your staff, it knocked the pencil out of Marinette's hand and he caught it midair as he landed on the moon he drew. You followed after him trying to hit him with your staff but he drew something that prevented you to come close to him; trapping you and Marinette together.

"And I'm taking back my promise. I'll make sure Chloe gets a lesson she'll never forget!" He growled, erasing part of the boat he drew to make it sink.

"Extend your staff." Marinette suggested, sending you a small smile as she pointed above you.

"Good thinking!"

Marinette wrapped her arms around your shoulders as you extended your staff, instinctively grabbing her waist so she wouldn't fall off your hold.

"Thank you, Marinette. Take care!" You gave her another small wink before extending your staff towards where you seen the villain head.

Once you landed on the hotel floor, you already saw Ladybug cornering the villain against the wall with her signature yo-yo spin.

"Hey, bug. Mind telling me what your secret mission was?"

Smirking, the heroine glanced at you. "Won't be a secret anymore if I tell you."

Scoffing, the villain spoke up again. "In the comics, this is what's known as the final show down. The thing is if you knew her, you wouldn't be breaking a sweat to save her skin. She's the real baddie." Scowling, he brought his balled fist up in the air; emphasizing his anger.

"That's not true, everyone adores me!"

Suddenly, he drew punching gloves your way; which you spun your staff rapidly to avoid getting hit, though it still pushed you away.

You caught a glimpse of Ladybug avoiding the fist and the Evillustrator drew a spinning blade, making Ladybug use her yo-yo to push it aside and almost coming in contact with Chloe's face. Immediately, you extended your staff right on the middle of the spinning blade, making it stop before it could hit Chloe. Recovering your staff, you snapped it in two and threw it at him; making one of them destroy the lights.

"The lights, Chatรณn Noire. He can't draw in the dark!"

Nodding, you caught a glimpse of the light switch in front of you. Calling out your cataclysm you ran towards the light switch, only for him to erase it and for you to destroy a wall you weren't meant to destroy.

"Here you go, kitten. Have a ball and chain to play with."

Your eyes widened as the weight of the ball began hurting your ankle, "Hey!"

"Sadly those who get in my way, get erased."

He erased the most of the floor you were standing on, making you grip on it when you nearly fell; the ball on your feet dangling almost painfully. Your eyes widen in panic when you heard your ring beep.

"Before you go, you have something I want."

You clench your jaw in pain as you screamed out, "Hurry, please! This cat doesn't really have nine lives!"

As Ladybug called out for her charm, you heard a bouncing ball being heard around the room; breaking every single light that was placed around every corner. As she broke his akuma, your ankle was finally released; making it easier to jump up to the ground.

You saw the little ladybugs flying around everywhere; fixing everything back to normal. You made way towards the heroine, "pound it!"

โ€”

As you walked towards the locker room, you made a mental note to yourself to apologize for not meeting with Marinette to discuss the project. Though she was having trouble with Sabrina at the moment. When she finished you walked up to her.

As she turned around, her soft smile turned into a surprised yelp.

"Hey, Marinette. Sorry I didn't meet you, I was...busy?" You apologized.

"I-It's fine! Totally fine! It's not like I was waiting for you for hours or anything! Plus Sabrina said she'd do the project.."

She only smiled awkwardly, her blue eyes widened slightly as her cheeks were dangerously red.

Laughing, you put a hand on her shoulder. "Is that so? By the way, your moment with Chatรณn Noire, how was it?"

You steal a glance at her, hoping she enjoyed your company as a heroine.

"O-Oh! It was a dream, w-well you're a dream...I mean! It was totally a nightmare...no! Wait-ugh"

You let out a small disappointed sigh at the last sentence, though you tried not making it too obvious.

"Well, she was a least a little awesome, right?" You asked, hoping she didn't dislike you.

"Sure...yeah she was okay, but not as awesome as you because you're the most awesome of awesome," she spoke rapidly, but you registered every single word.

Your cheeks hurted from all your smiling, but you still continued smiling at her anyway. When did you begin smiling so much?

"Thanks, Marinette. You're awesome too."
