Playing with the strings of your pajamas, you tried your best to not make the mistake of making things awkward. You weren't exactly expecting Alya to invite you to a sleepover, especially when you guys weren't that close. But she did and you were hoping that someone, anyone, would come to your rescue so you didn't have to jump off the window and save yourself.
Alya seemed to take notice of your discomfort and would occasionally make sure to include you on her conversation with Marinette, who currently seemed to be in distress.
"So apparently Ladybug has been around since the pharaohs. But there's no way Ladybug we know could be five thousand years old." Alya grinned, pulling out her phone to show you something. "I downloaded a great app that analyzes recordings I had of her talking. Based on the frequency of her voice, it turns out she's a girl our age!"
"Wow, so you're like really committed to finding out who she is." You sighed, glancing at the blunette. To say the girl was in distress was an understatement, her eyes blinking too much in such little time.
"Of course, girl. Ladybug could be someone we know!"
"O-Or... she really is five thousand years old!" Marinette yelled, shoving the plate of sliced cantaloupes closer to Alya's face.
Both you and Alya laughed, ignorant of the fact that the orange juice was gone and drank clean until Marinette mentioned it. Grumbling under her breath, Alya stood up and stomped off to her sisters' room, leaving you alone with Marinette.
You cleared your throat, already feeling your heart pounding.
"Should we start putting on a movie?" You questioned, grabbing a cantaloupe in hopes to calm your beating heart.
"Yes! W-Which one should we put on?" She replied. And her movements were quick. Too quick that it made her drop the variety of DVDS, "Shoot...." She mumbled, her face scowling in a way you could describe similar to a cat; funny enough.
"Sorry guys, my little sisters were at it again. What were we saying again?"
Marinette immediately stood upright, nearly hitting you in the face in the process. Laughing nervously, she brought the DVDs closer to her chest.
"We were about to watch a movie!"
"Oh, right! Ladybug. She's like a high school girl , so to figure out who she really is all we need to do is find a girl our age who's always lateโ"
"Don't you think there's a good reason why she keeps her identity a secret?" Marinette pointed out, shoving her phone downwards.
Before it could get any further, a sinister laugh erupted from the girls' room. Feeling a breeze in the air, Alya turned around to see the cantaloupes bitten on the plate, impressively in a matter of seconds. Alya fumes, stomping in their rooms once again.
"I don't think she'll let this Ladybug stuff go." You remarked, watching the girl anxiously pace through the living room.
Marinette nods. "Yeah. But she needs to understand that it's for Ladybugs' and her loved ones' safety."
She suddenly paused, staring at you for a moment too long before going back to her usual flustered self. Meanwhile she excused herself to wash her hands, you went over the TV put on a movie.
"Sorry once again guys! Anyways, what were you saying about Ladybug's identity?"
"Ladybug needs it to protect her family and friends! Otherwise the villains could use them to get to her!" She scolded, once again getting interrupted by the giggles of the girls.
You sighed, getting annoyed yourself by the girls' antics. After watching Alya grab them and stomp into their rooms, again, you went over to sit on the couch until she came back.
"Ugh, last time I swear." Alya groaned, groggily laying on the couch with a frown. "Who knew babysitting them would be this hardddd!"
Marinette laughed, dramatically rubbing the girl's back softly. Whilst they were comfortably playing together, you reached for the controller.
"But still! If I knew who Ladybug was, I'd keep it a secret. I would even help her. Like say.. if you were Ladybug, I'd help you and all that, y'know?"
Marinette rose an amused brow, confidently smirking.
"Well if I were Ladybug, I wouldn't even tell you to protect me from the "baddies", y'know?" She jested, almost fitting for her, making you wish that that side of her would occur more often.
Alya let out an audible gasp, glancing at you for some sort of reaction. "Is she serious? Y/n did you hear that?"
"Of course I did." You smiled.
"Well if I was Ladybug, I'd totally tell y'all because I'd tell my best friends everything!" Alya beamed, bringing her hands up the air.
"You're right, Alya. You should tell your best friends everything. So c'mon, spill the beans! Are you actually Ladybug?"
"Right. Like I'm telling you! Nu-uh!" She retorted, laughing shortly afterwards. Marinette joined her laughter as well.
"How about you, Y/n? If you were Ladybug would you tell us?" Alya questioned, squinting her eyes at you playfully.
"No but I'd probably get my ass destroyed if I were to be Ladybug anyway." You shrugged, joining in on their laughter.
After a few minutes into the movie, sounds of banging on the walls were heard and Alya immediately stood up. You reached for the controller to pause the movie, only for it to be kicked away by little creatures that suddenly appeared and the sight of Alya on the ground.
"I think you scolded them too hard." You remarked, watching them eat the food from the bowl with slight amusement.
"Well they don't usually turn into monsters! So.." Alya replied.
They duplicated themselves, making Marinette yelp and the creatures to bounce around the living room. You could only watch them continuously grow and throw stuff at Alya.
"Marinette! Don't let them get out!"
She nodded, jumping off the couch to grab one of them. But it was futile and each and every one of them bounced off the window. Seeing them both distracted, you left the hotel and went to a secluded spot.
"Guess y'all got a bouncy situation." Plagg joked, nibbling on his cheese.
"Good one." You sarcastically spoke, "Plagg, claws out."
Running towards the entrance of the hotel, you already see the creatures swarming around Paris. Some were eating, some were jumping on cars, and some were running around. Once they noticed you were there, they began running towards you. Using your staff, you knocked some of their hats before they could attack you.
"How'd you figure that out?" A voice spoke, startling you.
"Lucky guess? They were attaching onto me so I accidentally pushed it off of me and so once I did that, the hat fell off and so that must've meantโ"
"I got it. But didn't you notice? Their akuma wasn't released. Why? 'Cause that monster was a clone. These sapotis multiply every time they eat. To get to the akuma, we'll have to destroy the original one. The very first one Hawk Moth akumatized."
You groaned. "If they grow every time they eat, it'll take forever. And I mean that literally because they won't stop growing."
Ladybug scoffed. "This will be nothing! C'mon, I thought you liked a little challenge."
Rolling your eyes, you noticed the small group of sapotis stroll down the street with their stollen bike. Extending your staff, you placed it in front of the bike, making them trip and fly in the air; their hats falling off in the process. Once Ladybug used her yo-yo to destroy them, they disappeared. You both continued destroying the monsters for a while.
Both you and Ladybug noticed the Sapotis at Andre's Ice cream stand, which were multiplying each time one of them ate an ice cream.
"Quit eating already!" Ladybug commanded, her face scrunching in distress.
At the sound of her voice, they immediately began charging at you both; and you both blocked their hits, aiming for their hats. Despite your efforts, the monsters only continuously swarmed around you.
"Call out for your miraculous already, there's too much of them!" You yelled, getting cornered by them at the fence of the bridge.
"Lucky charm!" She yelled out, receiving a tea pot. You squinted your eyes at it questioningly.
"What's that for? Are you going to a tea party after this?" You joked, spinning your staff to make sure the Sapotis didn't come too close to your miraculous.
Ladybug only inspected the tea pot for a moment, her brows furrowed in confusion. "It's strangely familiar." She mumbled, bringing it somewhat closer to her face.
"Don't want to be that person but hurry up! My kung fu skills won't be helping us out!" You yelped, seeing one of the Sapotis bite down your staff. Disgusting,,, its droll is all over it.
Ladybug gasped, her eyes brightening up in recognition. "Of course! I know someone who can help. Gotta go!"
Your eyes widened almost comically, "Right now? You're not actually leaving me with these things, are you? I can't do this all by myself!"
Giving you an apologetic look, she nods. "Trust me on this one."
Watching her zip away, you turned to face the Sapotis once more with a slight frown. The Sapotis charged at you once again and you spun your staff to back them off. The number of monsters were strong enough to push you back into the bridge, almost pushing you completely off if you hadn't extended yourself in the air with your staff.
It had continued chasing after you for a while, swarming around you when you stopped at the entrance of a building. You glanced around, hoping that Ladybug returned, but to your dismay, she hadn't.
Noticing your helplessness, the Sapotis jumped onto your back; grabbing your wrists so you were pinned down on the ground with no way out. One of them was close enough to grab your ring but Ladybug came back in time, using her yo-yo to destroy the monsters' hat.
Finally regaining your strength, you noticed a new heroine fighting alongside Ladybug. Doing a well job destroying them might you add.
"This is so insane! I've got powers and I'm fighting supervillains!" The heroine gushed.
Snapping out of your trance, you stood up from the ground in confusion.
"Woah, a new superhero." You beamed, inspecting her outfit for a moment before bowing down. "Guess I have to thank you for saving me. I owe you one, fox."
The fox themed heroine smiled meanwhile Ladybug scoffed. "You never thank me for saving you." Ladybug mumbled out, her lips playfully turning upright.
"You already know how thankful I am for you, bug." You winked at her.
"Anyway. Kitty, I'd like you to meet... uhโ"
"Uh... Rena Rouge! Yeah! My name is Rena Rouge." Rena Rouge finished, proudly standing upright.
"Cute name. For now, let's see just how sneaky you can get." You smirked, slightly leaning forward.
"Maybe so sneaky that I'll be stealing your job." She fired back, smugly grinning at you.
You gave Ladybug a smile, "Well, she's cool."
"I surround myself with only the best." Ladybug grinned.
"Well, if you need any hero tips, you know exactly where to look."
And the conversation didn't continue for too long, the Sapotis once again trying to swarm around you and Ladybug, including your now new heroine partner.
"We're retreating!" Ladybug commanded, already fleeing from the scene.
You immediately followed after, grabbing the seemingly newly heroine along with you upon noticing her confused stance.
"This will take us forever! What do we do now?"
At your remark, the heroine called out for her lucky charm, earning a unicycle in return. You simply remain staring at the Sapotis climbing up the buildings in disdain as the ladybug heroine glances around.
"Whenever you're ready." You say, before separating yourself with the other two, trying your best to avoid the Sapotis from climbing up one part of the building while Rena did the other.
Noticing that Ladybug had put together a plan already, you return back to her, helping her and Rena Rouge reach the destination with your staff. And it seemed to work, as both you and the fox heroine hadn't been followed by the Sapotis. Below the both of you, Ladybug rode the unicycle with the stuff she previously put together.
"Hear ye! Hear ye!" Ladybug yelled in the cone, "Sapotis Land the amusement park of the future is about to open! Mischief of all sizes are permitted in Sapotis Land! All you can eat deserts! Fountains of orange juice! Big kids movie and video games!"
"Alright, fox. It's time to use those power of yours!" You said, glancing at the heroine beside you.
She seemed hesitant, bringing the flute down before it could actually reach her lips. "I don't know... I've never done this before." She mumbles, a complete vice-versa of her usual cocky demeanor.
You don't, can't even, stop the wide grin that seemingly is forming on your lips.
"Don't be silly, fox. Just imagine the illusion you want to create. Then boom, there it is!" You say, bringing a finger up to lay comfortably on the side of your head.
And she does just that, creating a beautiful scenery of a carnival that was awfully close to being in one of this disney movies kids seemed so fascinated by.
"Awesome!" She coos, her necklace beeping frantically right afterwards. "My necklace is flashing! Uh... that means I'll change back soon, right?"
"That's right. But..." You began, playfully shoving your shoulder against hers, "I know how to keep a secret."
She lets out a small breath, instantly understanding what you're implying, but instead of complying, she mirrors your grin along with a chuckle.
"Bad kitty! Are you trying to get me in trouble? Y'know we heroes have to keep our identities a secret."
"Good job. You're a fast learner," You praised, laughing along with the fox heroine.
Ladybug on the other hand, continued screaming into the cone as she rode her unicycle straight to the carnival. "Follow me and I'll take you to Sapotis Land, where there's no bed-time, where everything goes!"
Then, she crashed in between buildings, falling inside the thin crack of the alley before calling out for you. "Phase two, Chatรณn Noire! Now!"
You obliged, inserting your staff into the polka dotted wheel.
"Is this really gonna work?" The fox inquired, kneeling down to help you.
"Don't let this deceive you, it sometimes looks worse than this." You wink, jumping down the alley with the said wheel in hand, and extended your staff to keep it stuck in between the buildings. "Your turn, Ladybug!"
You, along with Rena, held the trash out, doing your best in catching every single hat thrown in the air until it stopped. The illusion soon vanished and you knew it was your cue to call out for your cataclysm.
As soon as the trash containing the hats crumbled, Ladybug came out from the alley, the akuma released once she kicked it.
"No more evil doing for you, little akuma! Time to de-evilize!"
"Pound it!" You three scream in unison, the small ladybugs returning everything back to normal, along with the two younger sisters of Alya.
Returning to kids, Rena seemed to have whispered something under her breath, Ladybug grabbing her hand upon seeing you dangerously close to them. "Uh, gotta get going. Uh... before I transform back!"
"Well, today was fun. Hopefully I get to see you more often," You waved, a small smile on your lips.
"I'll join you," Ladybug added, trailing behind her.
"Bye, kitty." Rena waved.
"Can you make sure the two girls get home safely?" The girl asked, nodding in gratitude upon seeing your complying smile.
You turn your body around and walk up to the said girls, opening your arms wide. "Now which one of you guys will lead the way?" Before you get the chance to remove your staff from your waist, the girls tackled you in the ground, holding onto both of your arms. "I will!"
โ
Surprisingly, even after everything that unfolded, the atmosphere didn't change. The same familiar friendliness remained, though; Alya seemed more chirpy than usual, unable to stop herself from grabbing onto you and Marinette.
"Y'all will never guess what happened to me! It was downright crazy!" Alya beamed, jubilant irises fixating on the both of you.
"What happened?" Marinette asked, her tone slightly underlined with something you couldn't quite place, so you ignored it and chose to nod in curiosity instead.
"Iโ" Alya began, hesitantly looking up and down before letting out a defeated sigh. "Well, my battery died. Crazy, right? I can't believe it. I just bought this phone not too long ago. What a huge let down!"
Unlike the blunette's sigh of relief, you let a sigh of disappointment. "That's it? Remind me not to get too interested in your crazy stories."
Alya lightly punched your arm, signaling you both to remain silent. "My sisters are finally asleep at last."
Funny enough, Marinette let out a loud sigh in relief, comfortably sitting down on the couch, though got tense almost immediately at feeling your fingers slightly brush against hers once she did. It didn't affect just her, might you add, as you brought your hands up to stifle the unnecessary noise from your throat you couldn't help but make.
Oh, you're doomed now.
"Anyway," You slightly coughed, prompting a little too fast to form a coherent sentence, "Did you guys also see the new heroine helping Ladybug and Chatรณn Noire? She looks cool."
And you make a mental note to thank Alya for chiming in, gloating on the fact of the new heroine's existence, because the only thing you know how to do at the very moment, is make yourself look like a fool with a hopeless crush on the girl sitting right next to you.
But for now, you'll just listen to every word your friend says.
