Felix had never held a girl's hand before. Of course, he'd held his mother's hand when he was a child, and he was known to force some of his friends to hold his hand if he was scared. But he'd never held the hand of someone who he was remotely romantically interested in.

He still had no clue how this night had led up to this point. With you holding his hand.

Was he sweaty? Could you tell that he was shaking slightly? Did you want to let go, but felt too bad about doing so?

This was turning out to be more complicated than he thought it would.

He chanced a glance over at you, but your eyes were closed. He wondered if you were asleep. You looked so peaceful lying there next to him, a slight smile pulling up the edges of your full lips. He had the sudden urge to kiss you, but he didn't. He didn't want to scare the crap out of you. Plus, it was way too early for something like that. He'd barely just admitted his feelings for you. You'd probably run away if you woke up to him leaning over you like a vampire.

He was about to lay back down and pretend like he was asleep as well, when a song, loud and catchy, blared through the night, exploding his eardrums.

You shot up like you'd seen a dead man, and rummaged around in your pajama pocket. It was just then that he realized you were wearing the cutest matching pajama set he'd ever laid eyes on. He had to force his gaze away from the crop top that barely covered your ample chest. His cheeks were burning so hot he wondered if he'd gotten too much sun earlier. He'd never considered himself to be the objectifying type, but when it came to you, he couldn't stop staring. He was being respectful, he reminded himself. He was just looking, admiring maybe. And now that he knew you liked him back, maybe you wouldn't mind so much. Maybe, just maybe, you were looking at him, too.

You snatched your phone from the pocket by your right thigh and turned off the ringtone just as the lyrics "Not shy, not me" rang out into the night.

"I nearly shat myself," you mumbled, face bright red. You always had a natural blush on your cheeks, but Felix thought it was cute how easily embarrassed you got. Everyone described you as quite shameless, but around him, you seemed to blush a hell of a lot.

You were receiving an incoming call from someone. The contact photo looked like a picture of a pale girl with a strange filter on her face that made her eyes bug out of her head. Felix wondered who that could be.

"What do you want, Riley?" You answered the question for him. He hid a chuckle. Of course it was.

"I've barely been gone for what, half an hour?" You complained into the phone. "Is the sleepover really that lame without me there?" You glanced over at Felix, and then down at the two of your hands, which were still entwined. He hadn't even noticed, but it just felt right. You still didn't let go, and Felix's heart ballooned in his chest.

"Yeah, I'll tell you everything when I come down," you swallowed, slender throat moving as you did so. "No, I'll come down right now. Since you guys are so bored without the coolest girl in the group! Yeah, you heard me," you smirked and hung up the phone.

Felix smiled at you. He'd spent the past couple of days admiring you from afar, and it was refreshing to see you up close. He loved how easily you could make friends, and how caring you were to everyone, no matter how long you knew them. Even the new girls who you'd just met yesterday seemed to love you. He considered himself to be a friendly person, but he always took a bit of time to make such close connections.

You smiled at him apologetically, finally letting go of his hand to brush your hair away from your face. As you pulled back, he felt strangely empty, like a part of him had gone missing. That sounded absolutely insane, but he couldn't help it. He wanted to be holding your hand all the time.

"I'm sorry, but the girls want me back down at the beach," you said, shooting him a drop-dead gorgeous grin. "Apparently, they're bored now that they've eaten all the marshmallows."

"How many marshmallows did they have?" Felix laughed. "Should I be worried?"

"Yeah, you should be worried because they ate all the s'mores without me!" You complained. "I can't believe they'd do something like that! They know I love s'mores."

"We could make some together," Felix offered. "I'm a bit of a sweet tooth myself."

"I'd like that," your eyes crinkled in a smile, and Felix wanted to pump his fist in the air. Anytime he could make you smile or laugh was a win.

"I'll see you later then?" You said, standing up. Felix scrambled to his feet beside you, trying to look smooth but inevitably failing. But you didn't seem to notice, or mind.

He immediately shoved his hands into his pockets, expecting you to hurry out the door and back to the beach to spend time with your friends. It must be a better time down there than up here.

But instead, you just stood there in front of him, a good five inches shorter, gazing up into his eyes. With your mouth slightly parted, hair perfectly windswept, you looked like a dream.

Without warning, Felix's heart started thudding so hard he almost collapsed back onto the balcony floor. He wasn't sure why he suddenly felt blindingly nervous, but his instincts were telling him something major was going to happen.

Unaware of his inner turmoil, you continued to stare at him, inquisitive eyes boring a hole through his skull. Entranced, he felt himself leaning his head down closer to your face. One of his hands started to slide out of his pocket towards your waist. He heard the creak of the wood floor as you stood on your tiptoes, further closing the gap between you.

Jesus, was this really happening? His vision went blurry. He leaned so close he could hear the quiet rasp of your breath again his face, smell the scent of sea salt on your skin. It mixed with a tangy mango scent he would now forever associate with you.

Suddenly, the door to the beach house creaked open and slammed shut, and the two of you leapt apart as if you'd been caught robbing a bank. No one had even walked in on the you yet, but Felix still felt like he'd been doing something dirty.

"I- I guess I should go then!" You said quickly, fixing your adorable pajama top and smiling at Felix.

Just that small gesture calmed him down, and he nodded, his heart slowly returning to its normal speed.

"Yeah, of course Laska," he grinned at you, reaching out and brushing a finger against your wrist.

You beamed at him as he did that, ducking your head sheepishly before scurrying out of room.

He listened to your footsteps as they pattered down the staircase, before he came back into his room and settled down on the bed.

Felix couldn't stop smiling. His cheeks burned from the face muscles stretching so much for the entire evening, but he didn't mind. In fact, it was a refreshing contrast to the headache he'd had all day. Mysteriously, his head felt completely fine now.

Tonight couldn't have gone any better. He hid his face underneath his pillow, trying to get his emotions under control before his friends came in.

What was wrong with him? A few hours ago, he'd been miserable. He'd wrongly assumed that you had a huge crush on Minho, and only thought of him as a friend. Or worse, an older brother. Yuck. Admittedly, he'd been feeling sorry for himself, and had been wallowing all night. He'd been wallowing so hard, in fact, that he didn't even want to crash the girl's tent down on the beach like the rest of his friends.

He'd assumed this entire trip would be a wash, where he would be forced to watch you and Minho flirt for the next twelve days straight. He had even thought about going home early and leaving the rest of you to your fun.

But damn, he was glad he didn't.

In the span of less than an hour, you'd changed his entire life. And while he wasn't sure what was going to happen in the future, and he was honestly still scared - scratch that, absolutely terrified - to think about that, he didn't feel nearly as shitty. You'd done that, all by yourself.

"Oi, what are you hiding from Lix?"

Before he realized what was happening, the pillow covering Felix's face was yanked away, only to be replaced by a close-up view of none other than Kim Seungmin.

"Dude, you scared me!" Felix rubbed his face with both of his hands before sitting up and staring at his friend.

"What have you been up to?" Seungmin, undeterred, wiggled his eyebrows.

"Nothing!" Felix felt his cheeks heat up. "Why do you ask?"

"No reason," Changbin, who had also come upstairs, smirked. "We just saw Alaska leaving the beach house, and she was basically running. She was all out of breath and stuff."

"Was she trying to hide from us?" Jeongin completed the trio of intruders, raising his eyebrows.

"She probably heard the door close when Changbin slammed it," Seungmin agreed. "So, were you guys doing... it?"

"What??" Felix yelped. "No, of course not! We barely know each other! It's been two days since-"

All three of his friends cracked up, leaving Felix a spluttering mess.

"We know you weren't getting busy up here, Lix," Changbin walked over to Felix and slapped him on the back so hard he almost choked on his own spit.

"You're not usually the one who makes the first move, and Laska would probably want to wait," Jeongin agreed, and Seungmin nodded.

"But what did happen up here??" Seungmin persisted. "Did you at least kiss her?"

"Hey- what?? Why are you asking me this?" Felix complained. "It's none of your business if we kissed or not!"

"We're like, your best friends!" Seungmin protested. "Of course it's our business!"

"You didn't kiss her??" Changbin gasped, ignoring Seungmin's complaints. "But she's, like, in love with you, Lix! You should've made a move!"

"Did you ask her to be your girlfriend?" Jeongin asked nonchalantly. "You guys have known each other for forever. It would make sense, right?"

"I-I mean, I think so...?" That made Felix pause, as his friends shot him identical looks of confusion.

"What the hell does that mean?" Seungmin demanded.

"You have to know if you asked her out or not, right?" Jeongin tilted his head.

"It's a yes or a no," Changbin said decisively.

"Well... yeah, she definitely knows that I want to date her," Felix said with an emphatic nod of his head.

"Good!" His friends chorused, thumping him on the back once more.

Felix swallowed hard, forcing a smile as his friends all sat down on the bed and started talking to him about tomorrow's plans.

He was sure you knew what his intentions were. He was positive you understood he wanted to be your boyfriend, and you his girlfriend.

And he was definitely ready for you to be his girlfriend. He was certain. Yes, absolutely certain.

"Why are your hands so sticky?" You eyed the girl standing next to you suspiciously.

"JJ doesn't believe in wet wipes," Lanhua called to you from the other side of the firepit.

JJ shrugged. "What can I say? I'm waiting until someone goes with me to the bathroom later to wash my hands. Wet wipes smell weird. And they leave a sticky residue on my hands, it's gross."

"Grosser than old marshmallow goo??" Mya exclaimed from her spot between Tessa and Renee.

"Hey, I can't control what I like and don't like," JJ shrugged. "Don't worry, with all of that ginger ale Tessa's drinking, it'll only be a matter of time before she has to use the restroom."

"In the meantime, nobody give her a high-five like I did," you added, ignoring JJ when she stuck her tongue out at you.

Everyone had convened outside of the tent to roast marshmallows, and the girls had decided to stay around the fire for a little longer, even after the boys left. Changbin, Jeongin and Seungmin had all gone inside to find Felix. Minho and Chan had decided to explore the other side of the beach, while Hyunjin and Han, after begging for more marshmallows and being rejected multiple times, went back inside to watch tv.

Now, in a sugar-induced stupor, all of the girls lapsed into silence. Everyone sat watching the fire as the smoke encased them in a comfortable quiet, the occasional spark crackling up into the night. It felt nice to spend time with your friends out on the beach this late at night.

"What did Felix and you talk about up there?" Riley broke the peace. She gazed at you, her eyes alight.

"Way to ruin the lovely atmosphere," you said sarcastically, your heart rate picking up in spite of yourself. Did you really want to tell everyone about what you had done tonight? It felt so personal.

"Hey, someone was bound to ask!" Riley protested.

"Did he kiss you??" Lanhua said eagerly, ready to interrogate.

"Did he confess his love??" Mya gasped.

"Are you guys dating?" Tessa questioned.

"No, he didn't kiss me!" You exclaimed. "Although there was a moment where I thought he might. And he definitely didn't confess his love, but he said he liked me."

You paused, trying to think of an answer to the last question.

"So you two are an item," JJ said straightforwardly, like it was a fact.

"Well, I don't know," you admitted, deflating a bit. "He never said 'do you want to be my girlfriend' or something like that."

There was silence again for a solid thirty seconds. You wondered if that spelled disaster for your and Felix's relationship (if you had one) already.

"W-well that's not always a bad thing!" Renee, ever the optimist, piped up.

"I don't know..." Lanhua said doubtfully.

"What do you mean?" You asked, trying to keep the waver out of your voice.

"In my experience, whenever a boy leaves room you questioning your relationship, it means he's not ready to commit."
