Chapter 9 : Stop Crying

"Sooo, how'd your date go?" My Mother popped her head through the doorway of the kitchen. I scoff as she walks into the kitchen never taking her eyes off me.

"It wasn't a date mom. he's just my friend," I roll my eyes.

"But he's cute," She wiggles her eyebrows.

"Oh, god. that sounds weird coming from you!" I gave her a disgusted look as she flagged her hand at me and laughs.

When my mom and I talk, she thinks she's my age again but, my moms my best friend.

"Yeah, I guess," I shrug.

"You guess? he looks like a model," I scrunch up my face. Ew.

"Gross, mom don't say that about a teenage boy!" She laughs and bear hugs me.

"Aw, I love you. I'm glad you're getting out there, ya know," She kisses my head and pulls away.

"Just because I hang with one person, doesn't mean I'm 'getting out there' mom." She shakes her head, smiling at me.

"You are my child, " I grin at her adorably and look around.

"Have you seen harmony? It feels like I haven't seen her in forever," Honestly, it's the truth. she may be annoying but she's my sister and I miss hanging out with her.

"I think she's in her room, where she's been all day," I slightly smile at her and get up from the kitchen stool.

"I'll call you girls when dinners ready," I nod and make my way upstairs, down the hall and stopping at a bright blue door with the letter H on it.

"Harm?" I knock but get no answer.

"I know you're in there. I can hear Shawn Mendes playing," I snicker as I hear her groan.

"What?" She sounded irritated and opens her door roughly causing some wind force to blow into my hair.

"Who twisted your underwear?"

"I don't want to be bothered with any of you people. None of you care about me anyway," She rolls her eyes, walking back to her bed and playing on her apple computer.

I sigh as confusion crosses my mind. I make my way into Harmony's room, shutting the door behind me. I walk over to her bed, sitting next to her as silence fills the room.

"Harm what do you mean?" I ask her softly.

"Nothing. just forget it, can you leave me alone?" She gave a deadpan look.

"No, not til you tell me what's up with you. You seem so distant like one of those emo kids," She rolls her eyes.

"It's nothing," I sigh deeply.

"Harmony talk to me. I'm your sister from the same mister," I try to lighten the mood but she just gives me a 'please stop' look.

"Ok look, I know you're a teenager and you absolutely are going to have mood swings a lot. But you have Me, Mom, and Har- you have me and mom, to help you with those things." She sighs and closes her laptop, sitting up.

"It's school," I nod waiting for her to continue on.

"It's hard Hermione. It's nothing like middle school where life was so much easier. I hate high school," I frown, grabbing her hand and interlocking them together.

"I know it's tough, coming from someone who stays in the shadows trust me. but you're not alone, you have me. I'm in high school just like you and I know the feeling."

"But it's your last year. soon you and Harley are going away and I'm going to be alone, facing my problems alone," I watch as a tear slips from her eye.

"No, you're not. when we're gone, you have face time and text. Plus moms here and will always be, But don't think about the future now. enjoy what you have now," I smile and squeeze her hand gently.

"Not everyone.." She whispered, but I hear it clear as day.

"I know harm... I miss him too," My voice cracks.

"Why did he have to leave us Monnie?" Tears stream from her eyes and it breaks my heart to see my baby sister cry.

I pull her into my arms while I try to stay strong for her but it's hard.

"I don't know harm, but he l-loves you. h-he loves all of us," I want to believe that. I really do.

"If he loved us, he wouldn't have left us for a new family!" She hugged me tighter, sobbing into my shirt as silent tears slip from my eyes.

"Stop crying. hey, look at me," She lifts her head up with tear stained eyes. It hurts me. I wipe away her tears.

"Don't think about what you don't have and that's dad. Think about what you do have which is me, Harley, and mom.. were not going anywhere no matter how much we fight," She nods rapidly and hugs me one more time.

"Thank you, Monnie," I kiss her head and pull away from our hug.

"Always. if anything happens at school just come to me," She smiles with a nod.

"Wanna watch the mist?" She nods quickly.

"As If I'd ever pass up a chance to see Jay's cute face," She wiggles her eyebrows and I laugh.

"Can't lie, jay is kinda cute. he and Alex are goals. Well, we're until I found out they areβ€”"

"Did you watch some of it without me?!"

"Oops," I chuckle nervously and she hits my shoulder.

"Bitch!" I gasp.

"Language. And how am I the bitch?" She rolled her eyes then opens up her laptop, clicking Netflix.

We soon get comfortable and start watching episode 5 of the mist.

It's a good ass show.

Am I drowning?

What theβ€”

I gasp and open eyes as I felt water being splashed onto my face.

I look at my surroundings and notice I'm still in harmony's room, with no harmony but I see a laughing Harley.

"You!" I growl, feeling the cold water soak through my thin shirt.

"Me!" He mocked and continued laughing.

"I'd start running if I were you," My voice cold and Harley widens his eyes then starts running with me on his tail.

He runs for the stairs, Then into the kitchen running behind mom, who is holding a steaming hot pot.

"Woah, Harley, I can't save you from a spider right now. I'm cooking!" Mom rolled her eyes, sitting the pot on the kitchen counter.

"Mom save me from the witch!" He whispered yelled as I run around the counter, chasing him but he runs to the other side.

"Guys, stop it!" Mom raised her voice and we immediately stop. I huff in annoyance.

"Hermione, why are you so wet?" Mom asked taking a deep breath.

I hear snickers from behind me and I widen my eyes.

Turning around I see Damon and Harmony sitting at the dinner table, chuckling to each other.

I blush realizing Damon saw that whole scene.

"Oh, grow up dummies," I glare at both of them.

Damon got up from his seat and walked towards me. My heart starts to race and I bite down on my lip.

"Who made you so wet muffin?" He whispered in my ear as he walked past me.

I turn around watching him go into the refrigerator, grabbing a water bottle. He closed it back and smirked at me before walking back to his seat.

I of course blush knowing he made a dirty joke towards me.

Rolling my eyes ignoring his immatureness, I turn back to mom.

"Your son threw water on me, now I'm soaking wet!" I glare at Harley who smiles at me innocently.

Oh, how lovely his face would look being smashed into a door.

"Wait, were you still sleep in my room?" Harmony stood up.

"Yeah, why?"

"You asshole!" She yelled, pointing at Harley.

"Language Harmony!" Mom sighed and slammed a spoon she was using down.

"Now my blankets are wet!" She groans and storms upstairs.

"Way to go making princess one and princess two mad," Damon laughed while high-fiving Harley.

"Ass-heads," I mumbled, rolling my eyes.

I soon feel Damon's stare on me. I glance at him from the corner of my eye.

Smirking is what he's doing.

I wonder would his face get stuck like that.

"I like your new style. Is it for Brett? Didn't know he was into heart eye emojis," Damon snickered and I frown in confusion.

"What?"

"Honey your shirt is umβ€” kinda see through," Mom whispered in my ear. My eyes widen and my cheeks heat of embarrassment.

"I hate you two," I point to dumb and dumber as they start laughing.

I storm out of the kitchen, making my way upstairs when I hear Harley yell after me.

"Where ya going?!"

"To dig up you and your boyfriends grave!" I yelled back, storming into my bedroom to change.

Why am I still not used to their torcher already?
