"HEY, STRANGER," attie whispered, carefully shutting the poseidon cabin door behind her.

jason smiled. attie felt rejuvenated. she couldn't tell if the refreshing feeling was the cool night air or jason's smile, but she couldn't get enough of it.

"acting like everything is normal is hard work," jason whispered.

"i know," attie agreed. "the whole time, i was wishing i could just—"

jason shut her up with a kiss. she was shocked at first, but melted into the feeling. she kissed him back. it felt so right despite how everybody else viewed it as wrong—or maybe that was exactly why it felt so right. it was their own thing, like a secret you told your best friend on the playground. it being so wrong made it feel so right.

when they broke away, attie already missed feeling him so close to her.

"maybe we should get away from the door," she said. she motioned towards the side of the cabin.

jason nodded and took attie's hand. he brought her to the side. the second they were out of view of the poseidon cabin door, attie kissed jason again. attie's back pressed up against the side of the cabin. jason's hands were on her waist. she ran her fingers through his hair.

when they broke away momentarily, their faces were still close.

jason's face was flushed red. "i really like you, atalanta."

attie's face got hotter, if possible. "i really really like you."

"i've liked you ever since you forced percy and i to sing with you during sing-along," jason said.

"that was freshman year," attie realized.

"yeah." jason nodded.

attie kissed him by his jawline. "well nobody can come between this."

right at that moment, a voice called out, "hello?"

attie and jason leapt apart as fast as humanly possible.

another, "hello?"

attie recognized the voice. she mouthed to jason, "coco."

she leaned into him and cupped her mouth with her hand. she whispered into his ear, "pretend i'm sleep walking."

attie quickly fell into jason's arms and he instinctively caught her. he scooped her up bridal style. attie made sure to keep her eyes shut.

she could feel jason walking towards the front of the cabin.

"jason?" she heard coco say.

"dude, what's wrong with attie?" that was percy.

attie would've audibly sighed if she wasn't busy feigning sleep. coco and percy were a hot mess. coco was miss bolter while percy was mister loyalty—attie thought it could be a good pairing if only percy and coco would actually talk about their feelings.

but anyway, jason said to percy and coco, "she was sleep walking. she stepped on me."

attie wished she could see percy and coco's reactions. she could see their disbelieving faces in her head.

"here," percy said. "i got her."

"are you sure?" jason said. "it's fine. i got her. you guys can, um, continue with whatever you were doing."

"we weren't doing anything," coco said.

"you don't have to pretend," jason said teasingly. "everybody knows. i got attie."

percy didn't say anything. attie could feel jason carrying her into the cabin. he layed her down on her bed that she was sharing with annabeth for the night.

attie opened her eyes once she was laying down. she squeezed jason's hand before he went back to where he was sleeping on the floor.

she had trouble falling asleep after that.
