CHERRY GARCIA!

was the most unlikely superhero.

While she saw the good in volunteering at animal shelters and doing fundraisers, she preferred to spread good in her own way.

At age seven, she'd developed unnatural abilities that'd changed the trajectory of her life.

Being born to a powerless, single father had shaped her view on the world to a depressing sort of realism. Some rules had to be broken in order for good to be upheld. Some had to die for others to live.

Occasionally, she'd stumble across a thief in a department store. It was very rare that she actually did anything about it.

The teenage mother tucking baby formula underneath her sweater was not a criminal. Not in her eyes.

Cherry could not run away from the innate sense of love in her being. Luck loomed over her shoulders. Although her expression was stone-like, her face held a statue like ethereality.

While she was a guardian, protecting her city from anybody who wanted to do its people harm, Colby Madden strived to be the absolute opposite.

He was the son of two super villain parents and the only one in his family who hadn't developed any powers yet.

Just when he thought he might get close to his dream, his parents went on the run, moving towns and changing their names to hide from Onyx, the leader of all villains.

Every single day of his life, he'd watched his entire family go off and commit crimes, while he stayed at home alone.

It seemed as though he'd never get his turn. He'd never fit in with his family. It was the one thing he wanted. As soon as it seemed like maybe he had that chance, he had to hide away.

The opportunity everyone in his family had gotten but him was torn away. He'd spent his entire life waiting for something that now would never come.

His heart ached for the cruelty, for the harshness of the life he'd seen everyone else get.

He wanted that for himself, and he'd do anything to get it, to even get a slight hint of what that life would've felt like.
