CHAPTER FOUR - LEGACY OF POWER

"I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE a Ranger from the future." Conner said. I chuckled. "Now you know how I felt when I found out you three were Power Rangers." I said. Kira came up to us. "Hey, have you guys seen Dr. Oliver? He was supposed to show up here for my gig. But he's not here yet." Kira explained. We all shook our head. "He wasn't at school either." Conner said.

"Maybe he's at his house, we can check over there." I suggested. Conner nodded and we headed out of Hayley's Cyberspace. "So when are you gonna tell her?" I asked Conner. He looked at me confused. "What do you mean?" He asked. I rolled my eyes. "When are you gonna tell Kira that you like her?" I said. "What are you talking about? I don't like her. I never will." I could tell that Conner was lying, but decided to not question him about it anymore.

We decided to go to the lavatory only to find that Dr. Oliver was gone. We found a video diary that he made. Halfway though, Ethan paused it. "What did you do that for?" Kira asked. "Because I'm so buggin' I can't even deal." Ethan replied. "Our teacher is the oldest living Power Ranger." Conner exclaimed.

"Not the oldest..." A familar voice said. We all turned around to see Hayley. "...Just the best." She finished. "Hayley?" Ethan questioned. "How did you get in here?" Conner asked as we walked towards her. "More to the point, what do you know about any of this?" Kira added. "I know that Tommy is in trouble," Hayley started as she walked towards us. "And that you four are the only ones who can help him." She finished.

"I've been helping Tommy prepare the Ranger energy since grad school. Who do you think built the morphers?" Hayley asked. "I mean, Tommy's good with with dinosaurs and fossils, but a rocket scientist he ain't." She continued. "And let me guess — you are." Conner guessed. "Among other things." Hayley responded.

"Okay, so you know who we are. You know what we are. Do you know where Dr. Oliver is?" Kira asked. "I think I have a pretty good idea." Hayley replied. She grabbed a disk from her purse. We followed her to the computer. "This is a surveillance tape from the day of your gig, Kira." Hayley announced.

"Why didn't he just morph? I mean, he's a Power Ranger." Conner said. "Remember that I'm a Power Ranger as well, Conner. A future one at that. My powers disappeared the day my friends and I defeated evil." I informed.

"Tanner's right. Didn't you get that far?" Hayley asked. She put the video diary back up again. "After that, Tommy went to college where he met yours truly. But when he found the dino gems, he knew he could never escape the power for long." Hayley explained. "Seeing as how I don't want this to be the end of the line, can we get back to the subject of finding Dr. O?" Ethan asked.

"Hey, I just thought of something. What about invisiportals? They're all over the city." Kira suggested. "And that's how I got here in the first place." I added. Kira nodded in agreement. "If we could find one, we could get into Mesogog's lab." Kira finished.

"I've been working on that very thing. Unfortunately, I need just a little more time." Hayley replied. "Okay, so what are we supposed to do while you're doing that?" Conner asked. "Here. Watch more of your heritage. You might learn something" Hayley answered as she pulled up the the video diary once more.

Then Hayley paused it. "Hey, I was watching that!" Ethan complained. "Sorry, but I've got something." Hayley explained. "What? You found him?" Conner asked. "Almost. I've got a lock on the back door to Mesogog's firewall. In theory, it should lead us straight to an invisiportal." Hayley responded. "Then what?" Kira asked.

"I'll let you know when I get there." Hayley replied. "So what's happened?" Connor said. "Either I'm losing my touch, or Mesogog is really smart... for a mutant freak." Hayley said as the computer came up with 'Search failed' "What's it doing now?" Kira asked. "It's retrieving more Ranger history." Hayley said.

"Nice spaceship." Ethan commented. He paused it. "Woah, hold up. Power Rangers who came from the future?" Ethan said. I rolled my eyes. "Haven't you guys already forgotten? I came from the future didn't I?" I said. "They're down with time travel and everything, right? Couldn't they take us back to the time when Tommy was kidnapped?" Kira asked.

"What, so we can watch it happen all over again?" Conner replied. Kira, Ethan, and I looked at him. "Oh. So we can stop them. Got it." Conner said as he finally got the point. "It's worth a shot. Let's see if this tells us how to reach them." Kira informed. She played the video diary again.

"That was sick, But not helpful." Ethan commented. "Okay, so, what about the other Rangers? Tanner was apart of the Mystic Rangers from the future right? Maybe we can contact them somehow." Conner suggested.

I shook my head. "Not possible. The Mystic Rangers and I lost our powers when we defeated The Master and the underground forces. Even if they did want to help. Nick, Xander, Chip, Madison, and Vida all have lives now." I replied. "Tanner's right again. It's not that easy. Most Rangers don't have their powers anymore. Some never wanted them at all." Hayley said.

The diary started playing again. "And, meanwhile, back in reality, we still have no way to find Dr. O." Ethan informed. "I know there's at least one more group of Rangers out there. They had a guy named Cam. He was even more of a genius at this stuff than I am." Hayley said.

"Try typing in 'Ninja Storm.'" Conner suggested. Everyone looked at him. "What? My twin brother went to this super-secret ninja school. Everyone there knew a few of the students got chosen to be Rangers." Conner explained. "Your brother was a Power Ranger?" Ethan asked.

"Nah, he couldn't even finish ninja school. He's, like, a total airhead. We're so different." Conner replied. "Hmm." Kira said. "Right guys?" Conner said. "Look, I found them." Hayley informed. "Woah. Ninjas are real. I knew it." Ethan exclaimed.

"Hey, my brother taught me some of his moves. Check it out." Conner informed. He started doing moves until he broke something, knocking out the computer system. "Oh, please tell me that did not just happen." Kira said. "I think we just lost our last hope of finding Tommy." Hayley said. Conner looked stressed. "Anything?" He asked. "Got it!" Hayley informed.

"We are so lucky you're a genius." Ethan commented while Conner sighed of relief. "Even geniuses need help sometimes. That little jolt must've done something to the wiring 'cause I'm getting something." Hayley informed. "With the return of Mesogog, it became necessary to invoke the power of the dino gems and one future Ranger. Should anything happen to me, these four are charged with protecting the planet." Dr. Oliver said over the computer.

"It's us." Kira said. "You're in good hands." Dr. Oliver finished. "He really trusts us." Conner stated. "He does." Hayley agreed. "We have to save him. We owe it to him." Ethan added. "The whole world owes him." Kira said. There was a sudden beep.

"It worked! I got a lock on an invisiportal." Hayley exclaimed.

"Time to go save a teacher." Conner informed.
