"GIGGLE, I am so naughty. THE FLESH DEMANDS INVITATION."
8:30am
Miko slammed her locker shut with unnecessary force, turning to head down the hallβonly to freeze when she spotted the new girl standing there, completely still.
Y/n's posture was odd, like a mannequin left in an unnatural pose. Feet pointed inward, one hand supporting her chin as if her head would loll to the side without it. Her gaze was fixed on Miko, unblinking.
Miko grinned. "Whoa. You good?"
Y/n's lips parted slightly before she spoke. "Subtle head tilt." She tilted her head a fractionβjust enough to be noticeable.
Miko blinked, then let out a laugh. "That's awesome! You narrate yourself like an anime character!"
Y/n's fingers twitched slightly. She considered this. "Anime character," she echoed flatly. Then, after a pauseβ "Awesome!"
Miko clapped her hands together, excited. "Oh man, I like you. You're freaky in the best way!"
Y/n blinked, processing. Then, after a moment: "That's really sweet." A small nod. "Thank you."
Miko threw an arm over Y/n's shoulder, nearly causing her to stumble. "You're my new best friend. No take-backs."
Y/n allowed it.
11:25am
Jack just wanted a quiet lunch. He wasn't expecting to find the new girl sitting alone in the cafeteria, perfectly still, staring blankly at the table. He hesitated, debating if he should even say anything.
Then, without warning, she turned her headβslowly, stifflyβuntil her eyes locked onto him.
Jack tensed. "Uh... hi?"
"Hello." Y/n's voice was soft, almost robotic, as she blinked twice in sequence.
Jack hesitated, shifting awkwardly. "Uh... are you okay?"
Y/n regarded him for a long moment. Then, in the same monotone voice, she said, "Light sip."
She raised an empty cup to her lips, miming a sip that never actually happened.
Jack stared.
Y/n lowered the cup. "Giggle" she added, though her face remained eerily neutral.
Jack wasn't sure if he should be concerned or impressed. "...Right. Uh, well. Nice meeting you, I guess."
He was about to leave when she spoke again.
"You are..."
Jack stopped mid-step.
Y/n finally gave him an actual lookβone filled with scrutiny, as if she were memorizing his existence. Then, in a tone that almost sounded satisfied, she muttered, "Jack Darby."
Jack swallowed.
Why did that feel ominous?
1:36am
Raf was used to being the quiet one. But the moment he saw Y/n in the library, he realized she might just be quieter.
She sat at one of the tables, unmoving, her head propped up in her hand as if she were physically holding it in place. She was staring at a bookβbut not reading it. Just... staring.
Curious, Raf cautiously approached. "Hey. Um... are you new here?"
A long silence. Thenβ
"Sheepish nod."
Her voice was nearly a whisper, but it was precise. Controlled. Raf blinked, not expecting such a formal response.
"What are you reading?" he tried.
Y/n did not look at him, but she slowly turned the book toward him. It was upside down.
Raf hesitated. "Um. Do you... know that's upside down?"
Y/n finally looked at him, and for the first time, something shifted in her expression. Not quite a smile. Not quite anything. But something.
"Giggle, silky me!."
Raf chuckled, not sure why he found that funny.
Y/n nodded. "What an interesting, fella!"
Raf felt his face warm. He wasn't sure if that was a compliment or an assessment, but...
"I think you're interesting too," he admitted.
Y/n blinked. Then, in a tone just a little lighter than beforeβ
"Teehe."
