"Excuse me, where do I sign in? Ah, I see you have a sword. I have one, too. They're very manly, and tough." Trying to pull your sword out swiftly but it got stuck and fumbled out and out of your hand dropping on the ground.
Bosco rears back and rolls with laughter. Laying on his stomach you throw your shoe, hitting his face.
Trudging over you stomp your foot. "I'm working on it!"
Putting your shoe back on, you walk to the edge of the forest, looking at the camp. "Oh, who am I fooling? It'd take a miracle to get me into the army."
"Did I hear someone ask for a miracle!" Whipping around at the booming voice your eyes widen and jaw drops.
Smoke flares along with hints of fire, a giant dragon shaped shadow in the middle. "Lemme hear ya say, "Aaah!""
"Ahhh!" You genuinely screamed, running over to your horse and hiding behind a large rock. "That's close enough!" Fang exclaimed.
"A ghost." You said, peeking over with Bosco.
"Get ready, [y/n], your seventeen halation is at hand, for I have been sent by your ancestors to guide you through your masquerade!"
He glances down at Momo, who is making finger-shadows of a dragon's head, and kicks him to the side to continue his introduction. "C'mon, you're gonna stay, you're gonna work with me." He said sternly, giving him a little leaf to fan the flames.
Fang turns back to you, fire flaring. "So heed my words, cause if the army finds out you're a girl, the penalty is death."
"Who are you?" You questioned.
The shadow put a hand on his chest. "Who am I? WHO am I? I am the guardian of lost souls!"
A smile breaks onto your face as you and Bosco stand up, seeing the shadow begin to move from behind the rock.
"I am the powerful, the pleasurable, the indestructible Fang."
Dropping your smile you stare at the tiny dragon for a moment.
"Ah, I'm pretty hot, huh?" Immediately Bosco steps all over him, crushing him into the ground.
The horse stepped back as you went over and crouched down, helping him up. "My ancestors sent a little lizard to help me?"
Once up you poked his back only for him to slap you away. "Hey, dragon, dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue-thing." Sticking his tongue out like a snake.
"You're ... um ..." You hesitate. "Intimidating? All inspiring?" He assumed, raising his brows. "Tiny!" You corrected.
"Of course! I am travel-sized, for your convenience. If I was my REAL size, your cow here would die of fright." Patting Bosco's muzzel as he tries to chomp him.
"DOWN, Bessy. My powers are beyond your mortal imagination. For instance, my eyes can see straight through your armor." Staring intensely at your chest.
Covering your chest you slapped him away. Falling to the ground Momo pushed him up quickly. "Alright! That's it! Dishonor! Dishonor on your whole family! Make a note of this."
Momo pulled out a leaf and pointed stick. "Dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow, dis-"
Rushing over you waved your hands and covered his mouth. "Stop! I'm sorry! I'm sorry. I'm just nervous. I've never done this before." Sitting on your knees.
"Then you're gonna have to trust me. And don't you slap me no more. You
clear on that?" You nod in understanding. "Alright. Okey-dokey! Let's get this show on the road! Crickee, get the bags! Let's move it heifer!"
โ
At the Moo-Shung Camp you peek around a wood pillar watching men walk around and prepare for training and war.
Fang popped out from your armor collar. "Okay, this is it! Time to show them your man-walk. Shoulders back, chest high, feet apart, head up, and strut! Two three, break that bone, two, three, and work it!"
Following his instructions you walk into the camp, earning confused and judging looks from the men.
Entering a tent your face cringes in disgust. "Beautiful, isn't it." Fang said as you pass men trimming their toenails with chop sticks and picking their noses. "They're disgusting." You answered.
"No, they're men. And you're gonna have to act just like them, so pay attention." Pushing your chin forward.
A man pulls open his clothes revealing a dragon tattoo. "Look! This tattoo will protect me from harm!"
Another man, who stood at medium height with a scar on his face โ ๐ญ๐จ๐๐ข, got a close look at the tattoo along with a man with a plant stem in his mouth โ ๐๐๐ง.
"Hmmm..." Zuko hums, the two looking at each other mischievously before he winds back and punches the recruit.
Jet laughs. "I hope you can get your money back!"
"I don't think I can do this..." You claimed, spacing out to a third party. "It's all attitude! Be tough, like this guy here!" Gesturing to the man with a scar who spat onto the ground.
"What are you looking at?" He questioned threateningly seeing you step back.
"Punch him. It's how men say hello." Fang encouraged.
Grinning at your fist you punch him on the back of the head making him fly and land face first into a bald man's stomach, blue arrow tattoos coming out from his clothes and onto his hand and forehead.
๐๐๐ก๐ softly smiles, lifting up Zuko by his under arms. "Oh, Zuko! You've made a friend!"
"Good. Now slap him on the behind. They like that." Fang added.
Listening you slap the mans behind.
"Woo hoo ... I'm gonna hit you so hard, it'll make your ancestors dizzy." Grabbing your armor and holding his fist threateningly.
Aang picks up Zuko again. "Zuko, relax and chant with me. nanuami tofu dah..."
"nonuamitofudah."
You watch in shock as the scarred man calmed down. "Feel better?"
"Ah, you ain't worth my time. Chicken boy." Waving you off as he began to walk off.
Fang jumped out of your collar angrily. "Chicken boy!? Say that to my face, you limp noodle!"
Yanking you back he goes to punch your face but you duck and he punches Jet, bruising his eyes and knocking out some teeth.
"Oh, sorry Jet." Turning around he grabs your ankle. "Hey!" Stopping your from crawling but Jet kicks him into Aang, then attacks with a flying
side kick.
They start fighting, with Aang swiping to get them off.
Getting free you scramble away. "Hey! There he goes!" Jet shouts, the three of them chasing after you.
Ducking through a tent, coming out with a bunch of chickens the gang of three stop abruptly at the end of the food line as you look out of the tent grinning.
Zuko and Jet are able to skid to a stop but with Aang coming in last everyone gets knocked over, like dominoes, and finally the pot overturns, food spilling everywhere.
You stand at the end, teeth clenched together anxiously. Everyone gets up and advances to you. "Hey, guys..."
Long Feng glares from his side eye, entering the Captain's Tent.
"The Huns have struck here, here, and here." Hakoda explained, pointing at places on a map while his son ๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐ listening intently.
"I will take the main troops up to the Tung Chow Pass and stop Ozai before he destroys this village." Moving the red figure, representing their troops.
"Excellent strategy, sir! I do love surprises." Long Feng expressed.
Ignoring him Hakoda stayed focused on his son. "You will stay and train the new recruits. When Long Feng believes you're ready, you will join us, Captain." Holding out a sword.
"Captain?" Looking at the sheathed sword in his hands in awe. "Oh! This is an enormous responsibility, General! Perhaps a soldier with more experience?" Long Feng suggested.
"Number one in his class, extensive knowledge of training techniques ...
an impressive military linuage ... I believe Sokka will do an excellent job."
"Oh I will! I won't let you down! This is... I mean... Yes sir." Composing himself
Hakoda stood up, taking his helmet with him. "Very good, then. We'll toast China's victory at the Imperial City." Going to exit the tent.
He turned to Long Feng. "I'll expect a full report in three weeks."
"And believe me, I won't leave anything out." Eyeing Sokka as they all exited the tent.
Sokka hung back, looking back down at the sword. "Captain Sokka. Leader of China's finest troops. No, the greatest troops of all time." Chuckling to himself he walked outside being met with the sight of the men fighting.
Sokka's jaw dropped as a man swayed forward, saluting then dropping to the ground.
"Most impressive." Long Feng commented. Hakoda stepped over the man and marched off, getting on his horse.
"Good luck, Captain! Yah!" He rides off, followed by two lines of soldiers on horses.
The warrior wolf cut haired man frowned. "Good luck ... Father."
The yelling and fighting continued and Long Feng looked at the captain. "Day one." Holding up his report board and brush smuggly.
Sokka stepped forward. "Soldiers!" Zuko gave one last punch to a man before they all separate, revealing your cowering figure.
"HE started it!" they all blamed, pointing at you.
Pulling your arms away from your face you peeked up at the man towering over you, blue eyes glaring down at you.
Standing up quickly you dust yourself off.
"I don't need anyone causing trouble in my camp." Getting up in your face.
"Sorry..." Realizing your mistake you clear your throat. "I mean, sorry you had to say that. But you know what it is when you get those manly urges..." Awkwardly and lightly punching his arm.
"Just gotta KILL something." Waving our hand, feeling the sting from when you slapped it against your palm. "Fix things ... a cook outdoors ..."
"What's your name?"
"uh...um...uh..." You murmured.
Long Feng stepped up. "Your commanding officer just asked you a question!"
"I've got a name ... and it's a boy's name, too." you stated.
"Jet! How 'bout Jet?" Fang suggested. "HIS name is Jet." you emphasized looking at the messy brown haired man.
Sokka narrowed his eyes. "I didn't ask for HIS name, I asked for yours!"
"Uh ... Ah-chu!" the dragon sneezed.
"Ah-chu!" you repeated. "AH-CHU?!" He interrogated. The dragon laughed. "Gesuintit! Hee hee ... I kill myself."
"Fang..." You scolded. "FANG?"
"No." You shook your head. "Then WHAT is it?!"
"Ping! Ping was my best friend growing up."
"It's Ping." you stated, sounding a little more clear. "Ping." The captain questioned.
"'Course, Ping did steal my girlโ" Fang recalled. Reaching behind you, you covered his mouth. "Yes. My name is Ping."
"Let me see your conscription notice." Holding his hand out. Quickly you hand the scroll to him..
Opening his eyes widened slightly. "Fa Lao? THE Fa Lao?" Long Feng read over Sokka's shoulder. "I didn't know Fa Lao had a son."
You hesitate, obviously he didn't have a son. "Er, he ... doesn't talk about me much." Attempting to spit, but failing miserably, the fluid hanging from your mouth.
Long Feng cringed. "I can see why. The boy's an absolute lunatic."
Silent laughter comes from the other soldiers.
Sokka hands the scroll to Long Feng, circling your figure making you stand up straight.
"Okay, gentlemen, thanks to your new friend Ping, you'll spend tonight picking up every single grain of rice. Tomorrow, the real work begins."
Grumbling come from the men, scrunching their sleeves threateningly.
Fang came from your armor. "You know, we have to work on your people skills."
โ
Your tent had been moved to a very feet outside the compound as punishment.
Fang picks up Momo and uses him for an alarm clock. "All right, rise and shine, Sleeping Beauty! C'mon, hup, hup, hup!"
You pull the blanket over your head only for Fang to yank it off making you flinch at the sudden coldness.
"Get your clothes on, get ready! Got breakfast ready. Look, you get porridge! And it's happy to see you!"
Shoving a bowl of porridge with eggs and bacon forming a smile. Momo appears resting happily in the bowl of porridge.
Seeing this Fang uses chopsticks to fish him out. "Hey, get out of there! You're gonna make people sick!"
"Am I late?" You asked, tiredness still in your tone. The dragon stuffs porridge into your mouth.
"No time to talk. Now, remember, it's your first day of training, so listen to your teacher and no fighting, play nice with the other kids, unless, of course, the other kids want to fight, then you gotta kick the other kid's butt."
"But I don't want to kick the other kids' butts." You said through a mouthfull. "Don't talk with your mouth full. Now let's see your war face."
You looks at Fang, her mouth full of porridge, not intimidating.
"Oh, I think my bunny slippers just ran for cover. C'mon, scare me,
girl!"
Swallowing you growl at the dragon making him fall back. "That's my tough looking warrior! That's what I'm talking about! Now, get out there and make me proud!" Tying your hair up for you.
Bosco peeks inside and neighs frantically. "What do you mean, the troops just left?"
"They WHAT?" You rush out of the tent, messily dressed. "Wait, you forgot your sword!" Fang called out dragging your weapon.
Watching you run off Fang sniffles. "My little baby, off to destroy people..." Momo comfortingly pats his nose.
โ
In the camp the soldiers rough house while Long Feng tries to calm them. "Order! People, order!"
"I'd like a pan-fried noodle!" One joked about making Aang perk up. "Sweet and pungent tofu!"
Long Feng deadpanned. "That's not funny."
Jet slaps Zuko as he notices something. "Looks like our new friend slept in this morning." Everyone went silent and glared as you jogged over. "Why, hello, Ping, are ya hungry?"
You smirk and go to speak but Zuko grabs your collar. "Yeah, cause I owe you a knuckle sandwich."
Covering your face as you fist went forward.
"Soldiers!" Sokka called out, making you look through your fingers, no pain coming across your face.
Everyone quickly gets into a straight line. "You will assemble swiftly and silently, every morning."
Walking over to a barrel to staffs His off-white tunic being removed, rendering him shirtless.
"You will assemble swiftly and silently, every morning."
Glancing out from between two tall and frankly larger men you stare in awe.
"Anyone who does otherwise, will answer to me." Holding a bow and tossing the quiver over his shoulder, walking past everyone.
"Ooh, tough guy." Zuko murmured.
"Zuko." Pulling out an arrow and aiming it at the scarred man. Stepping back, you all leave Zuko standing alone.
Turning its aim to the top of a high pole in the middle of the camp he releases, the arrow sticking at the very top. "Thank you for volunteering.
Retrieve the arrow."
Taking off the quiver and setting it down alongside the bow.
Zuko glared at the captain as he cracked his knuckles. "I'll get that arrow, pretty boy, and I'll do it with my shirt on."
He walks over to the pole and prepares to jump up and climb up it only to be stopped.
"One moment, you seem to be missing something." Long Feng walks over, struggling to hold up a box.
Sokka pulls two giant medals out of a box.. "This represents discipline." Putting one on Zuko's arm, pulling it to the ground. "And this represents strength. "You need both to reach the arrow."
The others laugh as the weight pulls Zuko down.
Looking up he jumps up, only being able to climb a little ways before sliding down.
He tries to use his teeth but to no avail.
Jet was next, but he flopped down, hitting his back and landing in an arch.
Aang was next but landing made the pole deroot for a second.
Then you and you just slid back onto landing with a thump. Rubbing your butt you made way back into the line.
Sokka rubs the back of his neck. "We've got a long way to go." Grabbing a handful of staffs he threw them out to the trainee's.
Zuko caught yours, using it to trip you then tosses it onto the ground.
"Let's get down to business to defeat the Huns."
You all watch in awe as he uses the wood staff to throw two ceramic pots into the air and shatter them as they come crashing down.
Shouting, the soldiers thrust out their staffs.
"Did they send me daughters when I asked for sons?"
Jet pulls back your collar, dropping a bug down your shirt. Gasping in discomfort you squirm, accidentally swinging and knocking others over.
"You're the saddest bunch I ever met, but you can bet before we're through."
Vaulting into the center, your staff slaps the captain's stomach. The bug falls out of your shirt making you stop.
Staring you down he snatched the weapon from your hands.
"Mister, I'll make a man out of you." Pulling you closer by your shirt.
Long Feng makes a mark on his board.
Fang watches from a distance angrily going to stomp over as Momo holds him back by his tail.
In the nearby forest Sokka launches three fruits into the air, pulling back three arrows and shooting them into three marks on a tree.
"Tranquil as a forest but on fire within."
Everyone tries but misses the fruit, arrows sticking into the ground and smashed fruit alongside it.
Fang shoves the fruit into your arrow and hides as Sokka looks over your shoulder.
Meeting his icy gaze you send an anxious yet cheeky grin.
On a cliff side of a narrow mountain path the man stands a water pail on his head. Winding back everyone throws rocks which he easily deflects.
"Once you find your center you are sure to win."
Next up you try to keep the bucket from falling.
Jet and Zuko toss their rocks cheekily before chucking them your way. Ducking the water spills all over you.
Waving the staff thoughtlessly, you're able to hit one rock, sending it flying into Aang's stomach making Sokka dodge out of the way.
"You're a spineless, pale, pathetic lot and you haven't got a clue."
Lifting up the pail you looked at everyone.
"Somehow I'll make a man out of you."
In a stream with salmon the captain wipes his hand in, catching one of the fish.
Copying him you feel something in your hand, smile you pull up only to see Zuko's foot.
Looking down you notice him submerged in the water. Lowering his leg you smile down at him.
Fang comes swimming up, using a bamboo shoot as snorkel, holding a fish your way.
Aang and Zuko run through a mock battlefield, flaming arrows shooting at them.
"I'm never gonna catch my breath."
"Say good-bye to those who knew me."
Tripping and arrow lodged unto his behind.
Jet slams his
