CHAPTER NINE - STRANGER WITHIN, PART 2

WE WERE ALL AT ROOT CORE. "Guys, I know you think you need to do this, but I'm all right. Please, let me out." Vida begged. "We're gonna help you, V. I promise." Chip told her. "Maybe... you should let her out." Clare said. That's when Vida showed her fangs.

"And maybe you shouldn't." Clare said, jumping back. "If Flytrap was destroyed, Vida should be fine. She must be under the spell of another vampire." Madison said. "What if it's Necrolai?" Chip asked. "Koragg would know that." Xander said.

"Nick, Koragg seems to be able to contact you whenever he likes. Have you ever tried to contact him?" Chip asked. "No. Well, I can try." Nick replied. He closed his eyes as he tried to focus. "I guess it doesn't work like—" Nick started off as he held his head again. "Next time, Chip, you can call him yourself. He's in the glen." Nick said.

"While you go after Koragg, there is something I need to do." Udonna said. "Who's gonna stay with V?" Madison asked. "I will." Clare replied. "Clare, she'll try everything and anything to get you to release her. You sure you're up for it?" Xander asked. "Don't worry. I am a lot smarter than I look. Or— never mind. I'll be fine. I promise." Clare said. "Where's Chip?" Nick asked when we saw he was gone.

We headed down to see Chip on the ground. "Chip!" Nick shouted. "Are you all right?" Madison asked. "If you are looking for the one who turned the pink witch into the vampire, look no further than Necrolai." Koragg informed. "Necrolai!" Madison said. "You're lying!" Chip added. "If you want the pink witch back, defeat Necrolai." Koragg said as he turned to leave. "Why are you telling us this?" Xander asked.

"If you are strong enough to defeat Necrolai and get the pink one back, then, and only then, have you earned the right to fight me." Koragg replied as he disappeared. "We'll play your game." Nick said. We headed back into Root Core. "Oh, no. Look." Madison said. We all saw Clare in the circle, Vida was not in site. "I knew it!" Xander said as we rushed up to her.

"I'm so sorry, but she got really sick and then she fainted—" Clare started to explain. "No need to explain, Clare." Nick told her. "I just thought, "What if something really bad happens? I would never forgive myself." So I just erased a little bit of the circle, and she got out." Clare finished explaining. "Well, at least she didn't bite you." Chip stated.

Clare gave us a look. "She didn't bite you, did she?" Chip asked. "No." Clare replied as she lifted up her hair to show us that she didn't have a bite mark. "But she put me in the circle. Please let me out." Clare said. Xander erased a part of the circle to let Clare out. Clare stepped out. "Thanks. Uh, I'd better find Udonna." Clare said as she disappeared. "I still say anyone with half a brain wouldn't have been tricked." Xander stated.

"Oh, hi, guys. I didn't here you come in. Gosh that Vida is a tricky one. She tried to convince me she was sick, but I—" The real Clare came out and we all looked back. "Hey, where did Vida go?" She asked. We all turned to Xander. "What was that half-brain theory of yours, again?" I asked him. "Oops." Xander said.

"What if we find Necrolai before Vida? How do we destroy her? Flytrap was one thing." Madison said. I silently groaned as I rubbed my head. My headaches disappeared when we destroyed Flytrap. But now they were back.

"Something tells me we're already too late." I think to myself. "Chip's book it's got to have a chapter on destroying vampires." Xander said. "Chapter 13. Basically, it's the old stake-in-the-heart scenario. Unless we're dealing the Queen of the Vampires." Chip said.

"And what does it say about destroying them?" Nick asked. "It says you can't." Chip replied. "Well, that's encouraging. Wait — "the Xenotome." that tells us what we need to know, when we need to know it. We need to know it now." Xander said as we all headed over to the Xenotome.

"Xenotome, how do we destroy the Queen of the Vampires?" Chip asked it. It appeared on the paper. "Dawn crystal. That must be the only way to defeat Necrolai. Well, it says how to make one, but it takes time... and ingredients I don't know if we can get." Chip stated.

"You can't. But I did. We must hurry. There is not much time. We must make the crystal before—" Udonna started to say. "Before what? Before it's too late? Is that what you were gonna say?" Madison interrupted her. "Make no mistake, Rangers, we are all in danger of losing one of our own." Udonna told us. "That's not gonna happen." Nick said.

"Udonna, you make the Dawn crystal. We'll find Vida." Nick stated. "No. I'm staying to make the crystal. I owe Vida that much." Chip told us. We were all on our flying moblies looking for Vida. We were calling out for her. "She has to be somewhere! I'm not giving up!" Madison said. "No one is, Maddy! No one!" Nick told her. "Vida!" Madison shouted as we continued our search.

We were all at Rock Porium. "Maybe she left town. Maybe she was taken. Maybe she—" Madison started off. "We'll find her, Maddy. I promise." Nick said. "Find who?" Vida asked as she came out of the office. "Vida!" Madison said as she hugged her sister.

"Sis, I'm fine. Calm down. I'm fine. I had quite a night. But I'm okay." Vida informed as Madison hugged her again. We entered Root Core. "You won't be needing it." Nick said. "V!" Chip said as he picked up Vida and hugged her as they both laughed. "Are you all right?" Chip asked. "Is she all right? She defeated Necrolai all by herself." Nick said. "Why didn't you call? We all wanted to help." Chip told her.

"I know, but it was my problem. You know me." Vida stated. "Defeating Necrolai by yourself? That must've been quite a battle." Udonna said. "We were a little suspicious before, but she walked all the way home in broad daylight not many vampires can do that." Xander explained. "Hail, Vida! Vampire slayer!" Chip said as he did her pose. Vida looked confused.

"Vampire slayer... and gift giver. I picked you all a little something." Vida said as she handed us each an apple. "Love apples." Xander commented. "Thank you." Madison said. "A gift from me to all of you." Vida said. She handed Nick and I one. "To my best friends in the whole world." Vida continued as she handed one to Chip. "Something about this apple isn't right..." I thought.

"Udonna." Vida said as she handed one to Udonna last. She took it. "To the Rangers!" Vida shouted. "To the Rangers!" We all shouted. "Wait. Something's wrong. She couldn't have picked these apples. They're not grown in Briarwood." Chip informed.

That's when I got another headache. Visions appeared in my brain as I saw each of us fall to the ground. Vida was smirking and I saw Necrolai next to her before I closed my eyes. "Chip's right... something is wrong." I added, coming back to reality. Chip looked at me thankfully.

"Picked? I meant, "picked up at the store."" Vida informed. "And what about the pose? You didn't even recognize it." Chip said as he did it again. "I recognized it. I've just moved on from it. You know me. I never stick with anything for very long. Now, I'm gonna get a complex if none of you eat my gifts." Vida said as she bit into the apple.

Everyone else started to bite into the apple. My eyes turned silver as I frozed the apple and Chip tried to stop everyone else from eating them. "I'm telling you— this is not Vida!" Chip exclaimed. "Chip. Now you've gone and ruined perfectly good apples." Madison informed as she went to pick the apple up but it turned rotten as we all gasped.

"Talk about your rotten apples!" Xander exclaimed. "She's gone." Nick said once we realized Vida disappeared. We began chasing after her. "Hold it, right there! There's no where else to run." Nick told her. "You are so right!" Vida agreed. Necrolai started laughing as we all gasped.

"Good servant. Very good servant. Now get them!" Necrolai ordered. "Yes, mistress." Vida said in a deep voice as she morphed. "Oh, no! Vida!" Madison exclaimed. "Magic Staff!" Vida shouted as she got out her magic staff. We all looked at her.

"Don't hurt her. I'm going after Necrolai." Chip informed as he morphed and jumped over Vida as we all grabbed her. She threw all of us to the ground. Vida laughed. "So this is what the others felt like when I was attacking them." I think to myself. "We're getting really hurt taking it easy on her." Nick stated.

Nick flew off the building as he morphed. Xander, Madison, and I joined him as we morphed as well. We fell to the ground. "Stop! It's us, Vida!" Nick told her. She and Nick were fighting until Nick fell to the ground. We started fighting her but ended up on the ground. That's when Vida stopped fighting us and headed up towards Necrolai. Chip powered up the crystal as we rushed up to him.

"Chip, you can't! It's Vida!" Xander exclaimed. "Don't do it, Chip!" Madison added. "Put it down! Now!" Nick said. "Don't hurt her!" I commented. "I believe in you, V. Fire!" Chip shouted as the crystal headed towards Vida. Vida moved out of the way just in time as it hit Necrolai. We all looked in shock. ""V" is for victory!" Chip said as he did Vida's pose. We all rushed up to him. "Vida showed me her sign. Even though she said she wasn't with us anymore, I knew she was." Chip explained.

"You tricked me, pink witch! You'll pay for that!" Necrolai exclaimed as she snapped her fingers and Vida got surrounded by lightning and she demorphed. "You have to stop her!" Vida said. "You got it! Do it for V, guys!" Chip said as we all got out our magic staffs and lined them up. "Magic Staff — Full Power!" We all shouted. "Bite this, Necrolai!" Chip exclaimed as we destroyed Necrolai. We all rushed over to Vida.

"You all right?" Xander asked. "Yes. I feel my powers surging back into my body." Vida stated. "You're back!" Chip exclaimed as Vida did her sign. Before we celebrated we stumbled as the ground moved. "You six wizards have shown great power and cunning to defeat Necrolai. This is what I have waited for. Uthe Mejor Catastros!" Koragg shouted as he formed into his own Megazord.

"Magical Source, Mystic Force!" Vida shouted as she morphed. We then headed into our Zords and then made our Megazord. "Let's show him!" Nick said. "Make Ship Power — Mystic Spell Shield!" We all yelled.

"Dark Magic — Spell Shield!" Koragg shouted as he made his own spell shield. We threw our attacks at the same time as they collided. Koragg's spell shield ended up attacking us as we fell to the ground. "He's stronger than we are!" Madison exclaimed. "Guys, what are we gonna do?" She asked. Chip grabbed her shoulder.

"I say we fight back! We don't give up!" Chip replied. "Chip's right! We fight back— We never give up!" Vida agreed. "Count me in!" Xander said. "Let's show Koragg what we're made of!" I added. "One for all!" Nick said. "Yeah! And all for one!" Chip stated he ended up moving to the front as our staffs started glowing. "What's going on?" Chip asked.

"Your belief in me has given us a new spell!" Vida replied. "Hmm— nice!" Chip said. "Battle me!" Koragg ordered. The wings of our Megazord appeared. "You have new magic!" Koragg commented. "Titan Megazord, take flight!" We all shouted as a spell shield appeared in the sky and we flew up.

"Impossible!" Koragg shouted. "Spirits of the Ancient Titans!" We all shouted as six titan images appeared. "Titans, attack!" We all yelled. All six of the titan images headed forward as we attacked Koragg. We all cheered but Koragg ended up getting up. "Impressive. You grow more powerful by the day, but so do I! Our next battle will have a different outcome." Koragg said as he disappeared. We all celebrated.

We were all at the Rock Porium. "Guys, I'm gonna clear some things up with Leelee." Vida said as she headed towards Leelee. "Leelee, uh, you know that vampire thing in the store the other day?" Vida asked her. "Uh-huh?" Leelee said.

"I was just playing a joke on the guys." Vida informed. Leelee laughed. "Yeah, I know that. You didn't think I thought you were really a vampire, did you?" Leelee asked. "Of course not." Vida replied. "I got to run." Leelee said as she headed out of the store.

We all laughed.
