Chapter 78

The chilling winds of Snezhnaya were now behind her. Yoshika stood at the deck of the ship bound for Fontaine, the sea stretching endlessly before her. The weight of battle still clung to her, her body sore from the clash with Capitano. Yet, her mind was elsewhere-on what awaited her in Fontaine.

She had fought, she had won, and now the real war was about to begin.

As the ship neared Fontaine's shores, the sky remained deceptively calm. The grand city stood tall, its waters glistening under the morning sun. But beneath the surface, tension crackled in the air. Everyone knew Celestia's move was coming-it was only a matter of time.

Waiting at the port was Furina.

The former God of Justice stood at the edge of the dock, arms crossed, her signature dramatic stance making it clear she had been anticipating this moment. Her blue eyes flickered with a mixture of emotions-relief, impatience, and something else Yoshika couldn't quite place.

As Yoshika stepped onto the dock, Furina immediately approached, her expression shifting into an exaggerated pout. "๐™”๐™ค๐™ช! You took your sweet time, didn't you? Honestly, I was beginning to think you had been swallowed by the cold of Snezhnaya!"

Yoshika smirked, adjusting her spear. "And miss out on Fontaine's grand preparations? Not a chance."

Furina huffed, but there was no real annoyance in her tone. Instead, she studied Yoshika closely, eyes flickering over the wounds she had sustained. "So... you fought Capitano?"

Yoshika nodded. "And won."

Furina's eyes widened briefly before she scoffed. "Of course, you did. Did you expect anything less? I mean, really-as if we would allow anything less than absolute victory."

Yoshika chuckled. "Sounds like you had full confidence in me."

Furina dramatically placed a hand on her chest. "๐™Š๐™› ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ช๐™ง๐™จ๐™š! I-Fontaine's biggest celebrity-only associate with those capable of greatness."

But behind the bravado, there was something else-something softer.

Yoshika caught it in the way Furina's gaze lingered, in the way her usual flamboyance couldn't quite mask the worry she had felt.

"...You were really waiting for me, huh?" Yoshika said after a beat.

Furina's dramatic persona wavered for just a second before she turned away with a slight huff. "๐™๐™ฌ๐™š๐™. Don't flatter yourself. Fontaine needs you."

Yoshika didn't push further, but a knowing smile played on her lips.

The two of them walked together toward the city, the weight of what was coming pressing down on them both.

"You're here just in time," Furina finally said, her voice more serious now. "Celestia has been too quiet After you left Fontaine for Snezhnaya, to fight with Capitano. Too still. And in my experience, silence is just the prelude to something disastrous."

Yoshika glanced up at the sky. Furina was right.

The war was coming.

And Fontaine would stand, no matter what.
