The battlefield erupted into chaos. Fontaine's waters roared in defiance as divine light clashed against mortal will.
Furina darted forward, her sword carving through the air in a wide arc. The enforcer blocked it effortlessly, but she wasn't aiming for a direct hit. Instead, the moment her blade met resistance, she twisted her wrist, forcing the enforcer to shift their stance.
That was Yoshika's cue.
With a burst of speed, Yoshika closed the distance, her spear striking with brutal precision. The golden-clad warrior barely managed to parry in time, their feet sliding against the wet cobblestone.
For the first time, they looked... annoyed.
"You fight well together," they admitted, their voice eerily calm.
Furina smirked, wiping a trickle of blood from her chin. "Oh, you haven't seen anything yet."
The enforcer lifted their hand, and the sky above Fontaine cracked open. Chains of light descended, aiming to bind the warriors below.
Yoshika reacted instantly, flipping backward to avoid one, her spear spinning to deflect another. Furina, rather than dodging, raised her sword high-water surged around her, forming a shield that shattered the chains upon contact.
But the enforcer was relentless. They stepped forward, palm outstretched, summoning a concentrated beam of celestial energy.
Furina braced herself-only to feel a hand grab her wrist.
Yoshika.
Without a word, Yoshika pulled Furina toward her, twisting their positions so the blast narrowly missed them. As soon as their feet touched the ground again, Yoshika shoved Furina forward.
"Go."
Furina didn't hesitate. Using the momentum, she launched herself toward the enforcer, sword gleaming. The enforcer swung their arm, aiming to strike her midair-
But before they could, a crimson arc sliced through the space between them.
Arlecchino's scythe.
The enforcer barely managed to shift their stance before Arlecchino was upon them, her strikes ruthless and unrelenting. Each swing of her weapon left a crack in the air, forcing the enforcer to retreat.
"You talk too much," Arlecchino muttered, her voice cold.
Furina landed beside her, breathing heavily. "Took you long enough."
Arlecchino didn't reply, her eyes fixed on the enemy.
The enforcer exhaled, straightening their posture. "This resistance is pointless. Fontaine cannot win against Celestia."
Neuvillette's voice rang out, carrying across the battlefield like a thunderous tide.
"Then you do not understand Fontaine at all."
From above, the skies darkened. Rain fell harder, merging with the rivers and canals until the entire city seemed to rise with him. A tidal wave formed behind Neuvillette, his power reaching its peak.
The enforcer turned their gaze toward him, their expression unreadable.
For the first time, uncertainty flickered in their eyes.
And Furina, standing beside Yoshika and Arlecchino, knew-
They still had a chance.
