Chapter 6

The frost of Snezhnaya clung to Furina's memory like a stubborn shadow as she returned to Fontaine. The land of elegance and water embraced her with its usual charm, yet everything felt different. Furina had left Fontaine as its former God of Justice, but her journey to Snezhnaya had shifted something inside her.

For weeks, she resumed her life, blending into the bustling city she once ruled. Her days were filled with the mundane-attending performances, chatting with Lyney and Lynette, and occasionally running into Neuvillette, whose stern demeanor always reminded her of her fall from grace.

One evening, as Furina watched Lyney's performance from a private balcony, a quiet knock interrupted her thoughts. A servant entered, bowing deeply.

"Lady Furina, there is a visitor requesting your audience," the servant said.

Furina frowned. "A visitor? At this hour? Who is it?"

"She says her name is Yoshika."

Furina's heart skipped. She hadn't expected Yoshika to leave Snezhnaya, let alone visit Fontaine. Rising quickly, she adjusted her outfit and made her way to the grand hall.

Yoshika stood there, her light pink hair falling elegantly over her shoulders, dressed in a majestic outfit of soft gold and white. Her dark pink eyes scanned the room, sharp and unyielding.

"You look... out of place," Furina said, her voice tinged with surprise.

"Fontaine feels out of place," Yoshika replied, her tone cool. "But I didn't come here for the scenery."

Furina tilted her head, a smirk playing on her lips. "Then what brought you here? Surely you don't miss me."

Yoshika sighed. "Arlecchino had business in Fontaine, and I decided to accompany her. She's meeting with Neuvillette. I thought I'd see how you're faring in your new 'ordinary' life."

Furina's smirk faltered. "It's been... an adjustment."

Yoshika stepped closer, her gaze softening slightly. "You're still holding onto the stage, aren't you? Fontaine's star, even without its spotlight."

"Maybe," Furina admitted. "And what about you? Why leave Snezhnaya's comfort?"

"I needed a change," Yoshika said simply. "And maybe I was curious about you."

Furina's eyes widened. "Curious about me? You, of all people?"

Yoshika's lips quirked into a faint smile. "Don't let it go to your head."

Before Furina could respond, the doors opened, and Arlecchino entered. Her presence was as commanding as ever, her black-and-white hair framing her sharp features.

"Yoshika," Arlecchino said, her tone neutral. "I didn't expect you to wander off."

"I'm not a child," Yoshika replied, her voice steady.

Arlecchino's gaze shifted to Furina, who stiffened slightly under her scrutiny. "Furina. Still managing to cause trouble, I see."

Furina crossed her arms, regaining her composure. "No trouble at all. Fontaine has been quite peaceful without you, Arlecchino."

Arlecchino's lips curved into a faint smirk. "Enjoy it while it lasts."

The tension in the room was palpable, but Yoshika's calm presence seemed to diffuse it.

"Enough," Yoshika said, glancing between them. "Furina, show me this city of yours. I've seen enough of Snezhnaya's frost."

Furina blinked in surprise but quickly recovered. "Of course. Prepare to be dazzled."

As they left the hall, Furina couldn't help but wonder what this visit truly meant. Yoshika's curiosity was unexpected, and the thought of showing her Fontaine stirred a strange sense of excitement.

For the first time in weeks, Furina felt a spark of purpose.
