Chapter 51

The streets of Fontaine had turned into a battlefield. Golden light clashed with the deep blues of water, and the once-peaceful canals overflowed with the force of the battle. The celestial warriors moved with divine precision, their attacks swift and merciless.

Furina and Yoshika stood back to back, surrounded by three of them.

Furina raised her sword, its water-like blade shimmering. "I'll take the two on the right," she announced, her voice carrying its usual bravado-though Yoshika could tell she was masking her fear.

"Fine." Yoshika spun her spear, her grip firm. "Don't slow me down."

The celestial warriors struck first. One lunged at Furina, a golden spear piercing forward, but she sidestepped just in time, countering with a slash that sent a wave of water crashing against them. The warrior staggered, but only for a moment before retaliating.

Yoshika, on the other hand, was faster. She ducked under an incoming blade, then twisted, using the momentum to drive her spear into the warrior's armor. Sparks flew as the celestial metal clashed with her weapon, but she pressed forward, forcing them back.

The battle was relentless. Furina moved with agility, dodging and parrying attacks while sending waves of water to push her enemies away. Yoshika fought with precise brutality-every movement calculated, every strike aiming for a weak spot.

One warrior broke through Furina's defense, their blade slashing towards her. But before it could reach, a burst of fire shot through the air, forcing them to retreat.

Lyney landed beside her, his bow still glowing from the attack. "Need a magician's help, mademoiselle?" he quipped, offering a quick grin.

Furina huffed. "Took you long enough!"

Lynette appeared behind him, silent but ready, her sword at the ready.

Meanwhile, Yoshika had finished off one of her opponents, twirling her spear as she turned to the next. But before she could engage, another figure entered the fight-Arlecchino.

With a single, fluid movement, Arlecchino's scythe cleaved through the celestial warrior's armor, sending them crashing to the ground. She glanced at Yoshika, her usual cold expression in place.

"You're getting slower," Arlecchino remarked.

Yoshika clicked her tongue. "And you're still annoying."

Arlecchino smirked but didn't reply. Instead, she turned her attention to the battle.

Neuvillette stood at the center of it all, his power manifesting as a raging storm. Water surged around him, striking down any celestial warrior who dared approach. He was the embodiment of Fontaine's will, unyielding and unwavering.

But despite their efforts, Celestia's forces were endless. For every warrior they defeated, more descended from the sky.

Furina clenched her fists. This isn't working. We need a plan.

And then, as if responding to her thoughts, the skies above Fontaine cracked with divine light.

A new figure descended.

Someone far stronger than the warriors they had faced so far.
