~There's always someone to say the words "marriage is never easy."
Y/N's parents told her.
Sugawara's father told him. Especially since he went through a divorce.
The first few years of their marriage had been absolutely perfect. What everyone calls "the honeymoon stage".
But, all good things always come to an end.
Trying to have a child was something that had become to both of them. It was especially important to her because Sugawara has been longing for children ever since they were teenagers.
Even if it was just one, he was perfectly fine with that.
However, things didn't turn out how they hoped.
One morning, she took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. She was so excited that her and her husband both took the day off work because they were so excited.
The following week while he was at work, she went to the doctors to check on how her pregnancy was going but with just one appointment, everything was ruined. The doctor told her that the test was false and that she wasn't pregnant.
In fact,
she wasn't able to have children at all.
She couldn't process what happened.
Worse of all, she was the one who had to tell Sugawara that they would never have children of their own.
When she did, everything went further south. He was upset and even accused her of lying. He brought up how she was always pushing the idea of having children off to the side. She promised she stopped going on the pill but he even accused her of not doing that.
That led to one of the biggest fights that had ever had. She yelled and even though he didn't, he clearly showed perfectly fine that he was angry. Words were said that they regretted saying but never took back.
After this, they stopped talking.
They stopped texting.
Then they stopped having breakfast together.
Then they stopped sharing a bedroom.
Soon after, she left and got a hotel room.
This went on for a few weeks before she considered getting a divorce lawyer. But she didn't. Even after everything that happened, Sugawara was the love of her life. Her soulmate. She couldn't let him go.
The night before she came back home, Sugawara was sitting in front of their bedroom window, drinking. He's written out so many apology texts but he felt too annoyed with himself to send them. When he looked out the window, a shooting star had passed by.
He thought that wishes wished upon a shooting star were stupid since they never came true but tonight, he was drunk and just wanted his wife home. With that, he closed his eyes and wished, prayed she came home soon. He even made a side wish for a miracle baby.
He woke up the next morning to the smell of pancakes and bacon. When he went down to the kitchen, he saw her there, making breakfast as if nothing happened. Upon feeling a presence, she turned around and was immediately embraced by the silver haired boy. He held onto her tightly as he repeated the words "i'm sorry" while crying. She could smell the liquor on him which made her start crying.
After that, they had spent hours talking about everything and what they were going to do. Talking truly helps everything. They felt so much better and when he tried to hug her, she laughed and told him to shower and brush his teeth to get rid of the smell of alcohol.
But, that's the past.
Today was going to change everything for them.
They were dressed perfectly.
Smiles on their faces as they walked up to the big building.
Sugawara smiled at his wife and held out his hand, "Ready love?"
She smiled back and grabbed his hand, "Let's do this."
Walking in, they were greeted with warm smiles. They were told a little about the place and they walk passed different rooms. They finally reached a room with a pink colored door. The staff member that was helping the couple opened the door and their faces lit up.
So many adorable children were playing around, painting or just taking a nap.
"Hopefully one of these children get to go home with a couple as beautiful as you two. Let me know once and if you've found the one!" The staff beamed.
Y/N and Sugawara walked around the room, adoring them children as they walked by them. Soon enough, they reached a girl who was sitting alone in the corner, coloring in a coloring book. As the couple walked up to her, she looked up at them. She had big, bright eyes. They were the same beautiful hazel color Sugawara has. Her hair was shoulder length and the same silky (H/C) hair Y/N had.
Y/N crouched down, "Hi there! What's your name?"
"Aiya." The little girl shyly replied.
"What a pretty name! How old are you?" Sugawara beamed.
Aiya held up her hand, four fingers showing.
This child knew a lot of things for being so young. They spent the next hour talking to Aiya, getting to know her, what she likes to do, what she likes to eat. Everything she loved was basically a mixture of what Sugawara and Y/N loved.
The staff member came in to check on them and found them already in love with Aiya. She could tell Aiya loved them already too. She walked up to the couple before pulling them away, "Is she the one?"
They eagerly nodded their heads, tears spilling from both of their eyes. Aiya was definitely the daughter they weren't able to have.
After quickly signing the adoption papers, a few other staff members went to grab Aiya as well as grab her things. The little girl was crying tears of happiness. At first she couldn't understand why her parents gave her up, even at such a young age, but now, she knew that these were the people that she was fated to be with for the rest of her life. She jumped into Sugawara's open arms, laughing from being so high up as he spun her around.
"Thank you for giving Aiya a new home. Please take good care of her!" The staff said in unison as they said their goodbyes and the new family left the building.
Y/N looked at her new daughter, "Aiya, do you want ice cream?"
The little girl ferociously nodded her head.
"What flavor?"
"Chocolate!"
Aiya grabbed onto Y/N's hand as they walked to the car, Sugawara walking a few steps behind them.
This was everything he ever wanted.
The women he loved the most with a child that they were going to love forever. He thought back to the night he saw the shooting star. He got what he wished for. And he couldn't be more grateful.
He hoped that they were find each other in the next life and every life after that.
