Anakin's POV
We stood at the window as we watched the droids marching up the steps, Rey stopped for a moment and her eyes lifted up and she met our gaze.
Give me (y/n), refuse, and I kill everyone inside. I only want her.
Her voice came to me and I looked to (y/n) who was eyeing me sadly. She heard it too. "She won't win." I assured her. Rey was insane, the temple still held clones and Jedi, not a lot of Jedi due to them being off world , disposing, and cleaning up the droids scattered everywhere. But it was still enough. I could feel her grief, she was being driven by the death of Maul, she has thrown everything out the window and now all she wants is my wife, and she's crazy if she thinks I'm going to let her have her. I saw (y/n) lift her hand to her stomach, I knew what she was thinking, if she wasn't pregnant she would have surrendered herself. I grabbed ahold of her hand, "I need you to go to my quarters and stay there, you lightsabers are in the back of my closet for protection. We will handle Rey."
Tears were in her eyes, "I don't want to leave you, what if something happens to you?"
I cupped her face gently and looked into her eyes, I didn't want to leave her either, "I know baby I don't want us to be apart either but trust me when I tell you that I'll be okay." I pressed a kiss to her lips before pulling away to look back into her sad eyes, "But I need you to protect yourself and our baby, so please go." I pleaded and she was hesitant for a moment and nodded. "I love you." I kissed her again roughly.
"I love you too." She responded after breaking away and she left to go hide in my quarters. I watched her leave and my heart ached for her, I'll see her again soon, but for now I need to keep her safe. I looked back out to the window and Rey was still there watching me like she was waiting for a response.
I refuse.
I saw her lips twitch in a smile like that was the answer she was hoping for before her and the droids began marching again.
That's when the alarm started blaring throughout the temple to let everyone know we were under attack.
(y/n)'s POV
As much as it hurt to leave him, I knew he was right. I ran down the hallways that were filled with people rushing to their speeders due to the sound of the alarm, everyone now knew the temple was under attack. I rushed past them in the opposite direction and they were all giving me funny looks. I stopped for a moment when I felt a pain in my chest, multiple pains all hitting me at once, I panicked and reached out to make sure Anakin was okay and to my relief I could feel him just fine. Then where did that pain come from?
I had almost made it to Anakin's room when I bumped into Obi-Wan and Satine. "What in the blazes is going on?" He asked me when he saw my nervous state.
"It's Rey." I informed him.
He nodded, "I figured it was." He looked to Satine with an expression filled with worry.
"Don't worry Obi-Wan, I'll keep her safe." I held Satines hand and started to lead her to Anakin's room. "Now go, Anakin is already on his way to her!" I shouted as I rushed down the hallway.
Thank you.
Don't thank me, just return the favor by protecting Anakin.
You know I will.
I pulled Satine in the room and made sure the door was locked, "Are you sure we'll be safe in here?" She asked with worry in her voice.
"As long as Obi-Wan and Anakin don't let Rey or the droids get past the lobby." I sighed as I walked to his closet and pulled out my lightsabers, my beautiful white ones that I missed so much.
"I hope nothing happens to him." I could feel her worry, she sat on the bed and I could sense her starting to have a panic attack.
"Hey," I went to her side, "They are the most gifted Jedi in this temple, if anyone can keep us safe its them." I assured her and I could feel her relax slightly.
"I know but I can't help but worry, I've lost everyone, I can't lose Obi too." Her eyes started to fill with tears and I pulled her into a hug.
"I know how you feel but we have to believe in them." I whispered in a calming tone as I rubbed her back to soothe her.
"Can you distract me so I don't go crazy." She chuckled through the tears as I pulled away from the hug.
I smiled up at her knowing exactly how to lighten up the mood, "I'm pregnant."
Her eyes widened with excitement, "You're joking!" She is the first person I told besides Anakin and it felt good to say it out loud.
I chuckled, "No I'm serious."
She wrapped me in her arms, "Oh my force, i'm so happy for you!" She cheered as she squeezed the life out of me.
"Satine. Can't. Breath." I choked out with a small laugh. It felt good to be in a happy moment, I didn't want to think about my husband fighting for his life a few floors below me. I groaned realizing I just thought about it.
"I'm sorry!" She released me, "This is so exciting, do you have names-"
She was cut off my a knock on the door. Who the hell could that be?
I stood up slowly and gripped my lightsabers in my hand before slowly making my way to the door. There was another knock and I pressed my hand up to the door, trying to feel who it could be. "(y/n) its alright it's me, Skywalker sent me."
I recognized the voice and sighed with relief. I unlocked it and greeted the person in front of me, "I'm really glad you're here."
Anakin's POV
"Are you sure you don't wish to reconsider?" Rey asked as she stood in the lobby entrance of the temple with the thousands of droids standing behind her.
"I'm positive," I gripped my weapon in my hand. I had Obi-Wan and Ahsoka by my side. Including thirty or so clone troopers. "Besides, isn't this what you always wanted Rey? Well you're here now, so give it your best shot."
She chuckled, "Not many of you here, now is there?" She eyed behind me and that's when I realized there were no other Jedi here, other than us three. Where could they be? Did something happen to them? I did feel a slight pain earlier which I thought was (y/n) but when I reached out and felt that she was fine I pushed it to the back of my mind so I could focus on Rey. There were only about ten other Jedi in the temple, besides younglings who were currently hidden, and most of them were the council members. The rest were scattered off world. That is why she knew to come now, there were hardly any Jedi here to pose a threat to her, but what did she do to the ones that were already here? "What did you do to them?" I growled.
She smirked, "Me? Nothing." She stepped closer to me and the clones behind me all held up their weapons towards her, "I'm going to win Skywalker and I will take her even if I have to pry her from your cold, dead, hands." She sneered as her eyes shifted to a glowing yellow.
"Well that's the only way you'll get to her." I got in a stance and both Obi-Wan and Ahsoka followed my movement.
"So be it." She growled as she flipped her saber open.
And so the fighting began.
Rey and I were locked onto each other in a fierce battle, she was stronger than before. Her rage and her grief over Maul is fueling her dark energy. "I really hope you don't die right now so you can watch me kill her." She chuckled as she force pushed me against the wall.
Both Obi-Wan and Ahsoka were with the clones and they were destroying the battle droids and from what I could tell. We've already lost about five clones. I wish Rex was here, I'd feel much more confident.
I ducked as Rey brought her saber towards my head and I jumped to the side away from her. We brought our sabers back to each other and we did flips and turns around the room and occasionally we had to duck and maneuver out of the way to avoid shots from blasters.
I looked around to see the battle droids were having an advantage and I groaned worried about my clones and my friends. "Pay attention!" Rey snapped as she swiped her weapon around and I backed up so it was only an inch from neck. I brought my saber to hers in a quick motion and she began to struggle as I was pushing her down. She growled as she pushed up roughly and swiped near my stomach, luckily only cutting the fabric. I lifted my foot and kicker roughly and she fell to the floor.
"Heard you needed help General!" The beautiful sound of an Australian accent shouted towards me and I turned to see Rex and some of the 501st behind him, including Fives and Echo, rushing in with their blasters ready from the entrance.
"Help would be nice!" I shouted back happily and my body instantly filled with relief as they began attacking all the droids. I looked back to Rey who was standing and glaring angrily at me, "Think you can still win?" I smirked.
Her angry glare shifted to one of amusement, "You really think I wouldn't have something else up my sleeve?" She chuckled darkly as she spun her saber around, "You think I wouldn't know where she would be?" My eyes widened and panic took over my body as I thought of my wife, "Tell your men to stand down now or she will die."
I shook my head, no, I knew she was safe. No one got past us, "You're lying."
"Am i?" She smirked.
"Yes!" I shouted angrily as I began to attack her again and she deflected all my moves but not without struggling. It doesn't matter how skilled she is, I'm stronger. I used my saber to knock hers roughly out of her hand and I gripped her throat with the force and brought her to her knees. "Surrender Rey." I growled.
"Never." She choked out as her yellow eyes glared into my blue ones. I looked around the room, all eyes were on us, all the droids were dismembered.
"You lost."
"No she didn't," I glanced up to the familiar voice. My eyes narrowed at them and I began to feel sick when I saw (y/n) and Satine both floating unconscious next to this person.
Rey laughed menacingly through my hold, "I told you Skywalker, you were always going to lose."
I stood there in shock, not knowing what to say or how to react. Obi-Wan and Ahsoka held the same look as I did as we looked at this traitor.
"Let Rey go," Master Ti spoke as she held a lightsaber to (y/n)'s neck, "Or I will kill her." I quickly released my grip and backed away.
"I don't understand, you helped us!" Obi-Wan shouted to Shaak Ti, "You helped stop order 66!"
"Because I wanted her to." Rey spat at him, "I needed Sidious's plans to fail. So Ti here was kind enough to make sure it happened quickly," She walked over to (y/n) and gripped her unconscious neck and Shaak Ti switched her saber to hold next to Satine's neck so we wouldn't try and intervene. "You did wonderful by the way Ti, everyone truly believed you were on their side, especially this one." Rey snickered as her grip on my wifes neck tightened.
"Don't hurt her." I begged with tears in my eyes, knowing full well how helpless I was right now, as much as I wanted to save my girl, I couldn't let Satine be hurt either.
Rey smiled up at me, "I told you I wanted you to watch as I killed her." She pressed a hand to (Y/n)'s head and began to shock her through her fingertips. My wife's eyes shot open and she began screaming in pain.
"No stop!" I cried in a panic, thinking of her my baby, "She's pregnant!"
"What?" Both Obi-Wan and Ahsoka shouted together.
Rey stopped and (y/n) fell back unconscious, "What did you just say?" Her eyes snapped up to me.
"She's pregnant." I said again with tears falling down my face.
Rey's hand went to her stomach and she stood there for a moment before a smile appeared on her face, "Lets go." She Looked to Shaak Ti who nodded at her. "She's coming with us."
(Song: Unsteady by X Ambassadors, slowed version on top)
"What? No!" I shouted, "Please don't take them from me!" I began sobbing which caused the 501st to get in a protective stance and they held their blasters towards Shaak Ti and Rey.
She laughed, "If they don't put their blasters down, I'm going to have Shaak Ti decapitate the duchess."
"No!" Obi-Wan shouted and reached out towards Satine but Ahsoka grabbed onto him to stop him from stepping forward. He looked to Ahsoka then back to Satine in a panic.
"Don't." Shaak Ti's blade went closer to Satine and we all took one step back.
"Lower your weapons." I spoke reluctantly, they all hesitated for a moment but eventually listened to me and set their blasters down.
"Nice choice Skywalker, we'll be going now." Rey smiled as they headed for the exit with (y/n) and Satine floating by them.
"Rey please," I begged as I dropped to my knees and tossed my saber aside, "Kill me if you want to, just don't take them." I can't do it, I can't handle her being taken from me, not again. "I'm begging you." I cried.
"And me." Obi-Wan did the same as I, as he looked to Satine with tear filled eyes.
"And me." Ahsoka followed our steps.
Rey chuckled as she walked towards me, "I would love to kill you right now," She swung her blade and stopped it as soon as it was near my neck, I could feel the heat and it slightly burned but I didn't flinch. "But where's the fun in that." She smiled as she turned around and walked back towards Shaak Ti who was waiting patiently, "Oh and you should probably check on the council members." She gave me one last smile with a wink before leaving.
"We'll follow them sir." Rex placed a hand on my shoulder, I was still looking towards the direction they left, with so much grief in my heart. I just got her back and she was gone. I wanted to run after them and kill her for taking my wife and child. The pain I felt was near unbearable.
"No, we can't risk them killing Satine." I choked out through my tears.
I heard cries and I looked up to see Obi-Wan crying into Ahsoka's arms. She was crying to as she held him and stroked his arm.
The anger and grief was building in me, the temple began to shake, I was losing control all over again. All because I couldn't be do enough for her, because I failed her.
We lost.
(a/n Had so much fun with this one and it also made me sad to write but I've been planning this for so long and I'm excited to finally hear your thoughts about it! Also if you already haven't checked it out, I have a second book that I am currently working on called Salvation and I try to update it almost everyday like I do with this one. Thank you all for the support!)
