(y/n)'s POV
"Thank you so much for watching him Lida." I handed BD to her. I wasn't going to take him on the mission, the last thing I needed was to be worrying about him while facing Grievous.
"Of course." She smiled as he hopped onto her shoulder, "When you get back you're going to have to give me all the details of the wedding." She spoke low so only I would be the only one to hear her.
"You know I will." I winked and gave her a hug before walking to Anakin who was leaning in the doorway of Lida's office. He turned and left the room without saying anything to her which I found odd but decided to shrug it off, maybe he's just nervous about the mission.
We reached the hangar and Obi-Wan was waiting at the entrance of our cruiser. "You were suppose to be here twenty minutes ago." He scolded us and Anakin gave a smirk.
"Sorry, she was having trouble with her armor." He nudged me on the shoulder and I rolled my eyes.
"Somehow I doubt that." He shook his head, "Let's go."
~*~•~*~
We reached Kamino and it appears we got there just in time. I could see multiple machines drilling into the walls of Kamino and they were opening and dropping battle droids all around. The clones that were inside were fighting off as best as they could but seem to be overpowered. Grievous was nowhere in sight but something told me that he was here.
"Let's go now!" Anakin shouted and we jumped from our ships onto the platforms and our clone troops dropped down using zip lines. "Be careful." He whispered to me before running and dismembering the battle droids in his path.
The battle picked up quickly, Ahsoka was using her green lightsabers and was jumping from droid to droid tearing them apart, sparks flying everywhere. Obi-Wan was working along side Cody and the rest of the 212th trying to destroy the machines that seemed to be dropping more and more droids. Anakin was nowhere to be seen, last I saw of him he was running inside with Rex and Fives to help the clones and Kaminoans inside that were being attacked. The 501st were scattered everywhere shooting at the droids and the machines.
I was everywhere, cutting through each droid I saw while searching for Grievous. He was here and I could feel it. After a few more minutes of my search I jumped on top of one of the rounded roofs and there he was. Standing there watching over the battle, he didn't see me or hear me come from behind him. Or so I thought.
"Well if it isn't the traitor." He slowly turned around to face me and he started to cough uncontrollably causing me to chuckle.
"You okay?" I asked with fake concern and I slowly walked around him twirling my weapons in my hands. "Cough drop?" I teased to annoy him and by the anger growing on his face and the growl he let out, I could tell it was working.
"I have to live with this cough thanks to you." He slowly inched towards me and I took a few steps back to keep our distance, "You should have killed me." He grabbed lightsabers from his cloak before throwing it off of him. Two more mechanical arms popped out and each mechanical hand grabbed a lightsaber and ignited them.
"Now I'll get the chance." I smirked as he started twisting the weapons in his hand causing them to create burn marks and sparks against the floor and he stepped towards me.
"Count Dooku has trained me in the art of lightsabers, you will not last against me." He growled.
"Let's see what you're made of then." I advanced towards him.
Our weapons clashed together and I have to admit I was struggling against him. He was putting up a good fight, better than he ever used to. I jumped back to catch my breathe. "Dooku taught you well."
"I always imagined it was you in my training." He grumbled coming back to me.
"I have to say I'm flattered." I smirked causing him to roar in annoyance. He ran to me and our weapons were brought back together again and we were dancing around this roof top in a mixture of blue, green, and white lights sparking together. The roof was slippery and I was doing my best to hold my balance so I didn't slip and go over the edge.
I knocked one of the weapons out of his hand and he quickly re-acted with using that now free hand to smack me in the face. Hard enough for me to fly backwards, I could taste the metallic in my mouth. I rolled over so I was on my knees and as I tried to stand back up I heard him running from behind me and I placed the weapons behind my back in an x formation to deflect his attack.
I pushed his arms up with my weapons and used the force to push him a good distance away so I could stand up.
He was coming at me again but this time I didn't put my lightsabers up quick enough and one of his weapons sliced against my arm and I cried out in pain. He used his free hand to punch me harder than before and this time I was clouded by blackness.
Anakin's POV
"There are so many of them!" Ahsoka jumped from where she was and landed by my side, slicing through a droid.
"It's those damn machines, they're dropping them constantly!" Obi-Wan yelled from a few feet away.
"Have you seen General Grievous?" I asked Ahsoka and she shook her head as she cut through more droids.
"I don't think so, I'm not even too sure what he looks like." She used the force to shove multiple droids off the platform and into the water.
"Maybe like that!" Rex shouted and he pointed up to the top of one of the buildings and I looked up to see my wife fighting with the man droid. My eyes widened when I saw him slice one of his weapons into her arm and I heard her yell in pain. I ran to her as fast as I could jumping on top of the droids and cutting through them on my way there.
I jumped to the top of the roof and he turned to face me when he heard the thud from my landing. "Another Jedi." He complained.
"General Grievous, you're shorter than I expected." I smirked and he looked annoyed while letting out a low growl.
I looked down to see (y/n) lying behind him unconscious and he held two of his weapons to her neck, "Jedi scum, come any closer and she's dead." He threatened as I tightened my grip on my weapon.
"You'll be the dead one." I threatened back and I could feel anger boil in me at the thought of him harming her any further.
He chuckled and in one swift motion he moved the weapons and had her by the neck she was still unconscious and her weapons fell and rolled down the side of the building towards the battle. He slowly walked backwards with her in his grasp and I slowly inched forward with my weapon pointed at him.
"You can catch me Jedi or you can save her." And before I could respond he threw her over the edge and into the water. Without a second thought I ran and jumped in after her. I dived into the cold water and it felt like needles poking at my skin, the waves were fierce making it hard to catch my breathe but I didn't care I needed to get her. I went under and I could see her sinking so I swam to her as fast as I could and grabbed ahold of her wrist. I pulled her to the top with me and was greeted by waves crashing against the side of my face.
I pulled the comlink up to my mouth and prayed the water didn't cause it to not work. "Ahsoka come in." I spoke and waited for a response. I held (y/n)'s head above the water and tried to shield her from the waves.
"Anakin where are you?!" Ahsoka spoke through the link and I thanked the force she could hear me.
"I'm in the water with (y/n) bring a ship down here now! I don't know how much longer I can hold us up, she's unconscious."I pleaded while struggling to keep her head up.
"On it!" She replied and I sighed with relief as I clung to my wife. I looked down at her face and could see a mark on her cheek where it looked like he hit her and blood dripping from her mouth that was getting washed away by the water.
"I said to be careful." I whispered to her as I placed a kiss on her forehead.
A few moments later one of the ships was lowering near us and I could see Ahsoka, Rex, and a few other troopers on board. "Give me your hand!" She told me and I shook my head.
"Take her first!" I shouted over the loud engines of the ship. She nodded and both her and Rex reached down and I handed her to them. Once they pulled her on board, Rex lowered a hand for me which I grabbed and pulled myself on the ship. I laid there on the floor next to (y/n) and was catching my breathe.
"You alright General Skywalker?" Rex asked and I nodded.
"Yeah I just need a minute, swimming against waves like that while holding a person really takes a lot out of you." I told him breathlessly. I turned my head to (y/n) who had Ahsoka next to her, she was checking her vitals, "Is she okay?"
My padawan glanced up at me with a smile, "She'll be fine, maybe a slight concussion but everything else checks out."
"Good." I looked away and towards the ceiling of the ship. All that matters is that she's okay.
The ship brought us back to the platform where the battle was going on but now there was no longer a battle. The platform was covered in dismembered droid parts and also the bodies of some of our fallen clones. "General Grievous fled and all the machines shut down. The droids have been taken care of so Kamino is safe for now. We are going to be leaving some troops here though to be safe." Obi-Wan informed me as I stepped off the ship dripping wet and he looked amused by my appearance. "Went for a swim did you?"
I shook my head but allowed a small smile to appear on my face, "Shut up."
He looked around me to (y/n)'s unconscious body on the small ship. "Is she alright?"
"She's fine." I assured him, "Grievous threw her over the edge to distract me so he could flee."
He sighed, "She shouldn't have tried to take him on her own."
I nodded in agreement, "I know but now we know what he's fully capable of and we will be ready for him next time."
"Right. Let's get back to Coruscant, we need to give a report on today's battle. The Kaminoans said they were gonna bring out a clean-up crew for all.. this." He gestured to the battle mess.
"Let's go then." I hopped on the ship and instead of standing like everyone else I sat next to (y/n) and pulled her head onto my lap so her head wasn't laying on a hard surface.
I leaned my head back against the wall and closed my eyes. I felt my tired body relax and I listened to the sounds of the engines, soon enough I drifted to sleep.
(a/n soo I really suck when it comes to battle scenes so I tried my hardest with this chapter, sorry if it's bad haha! Let me know what you think and you can always give me tips on how to improve! I appreciate anything, thank you!♥️)
