Inui watched closely as Koko interacted with (Y/N), the former saying something which made the latter glare at him playfully.
He turned away.
Something and always been interesting about her, although he never knew why.
He tried to turn his full attention to his book although her voice always distracted him, as well as Koko's. They seem to get along better than ever these past few days which made him feel a bit off.
They were never on good terms in the first place.
Inui opted to just stare outside, placing his book on his lap as random thoughts filled his already hazy mind, the thought of sleep sounding better than anything as of the moment.
He heard footsteps towards him along with some light laughter as he opened one eye, appreciating the sight of his beloved in front of him.
"Sleepy?" she asked, voice still as clear as ever.
He only nodded as he watched her take a seat on the other end of the couch, patting her lap which made a small smile appear on his face. He saw Koko smirking on the corner of his eye although he paid no attention to him.
He made himself comfortable with (Y/N)'s lap as his pillow as he drifted off to sleep.
Inui woke up in a cold sweat, looking outside and noticing it's now late in the afternoon. His head now lay in a pillow as he looked around, no one with him in their hideout.
He groggily sat, rubbing the sleep off his eyes as he yawned before standing up and going to the kitchen. He needed to prepare for later, gang meetings and stuff.
As he brushed his teeth, a random thought popped up in his mind as he quickly finished up brushing with the intention of remembering what kind of dream he just had.
He vaguely remembered the other person, the thought of Koko being in his dreams being a little too much to bear as he just opted to forget about it.
Whenever Koko was in his dreams, it wasn't worth to remember anything in it.
He went about the remainder of his day, going out for a bit to go get dinner.
"Yo, she's one fine lady. Where'd you find her?" Koko asked as he looked at the said person who's now by the vending machine.
Inui irked a bit at Koko's statement as he glared in response.
"Woah calm down. I don't have any intention on taking her. Besides, she looks like she's already into you."
Koko let out his tongue once again as he trained his vision somewhere, Inui just taking a couple of glances at his lady from time to time.
Hearing Koko say that made him feel a bit flustered, the thought of (Y/N) knowing how he felt about her only making his mind create different scenarios, each one with her in it.
Although he knew where to stop.
"You really gotta stop being so quiet and start talking to her some more, Inupi. It's not like she won't listen to you or anything." Koko sighed again.
The blonde looked at his friend, the thought of Koko being too flustered to talk to Akane filling his mind.
Speaking of which, it also seemed that Akane likes him though.
...
In which she left.
"Why would you think she likes me? Isn't she like that to everyone?" Inui finally asked as he watched her walk towards them with a couple of drinks in her hand.
Koko didn't mind him as he went to help her carry some of it, the simple action making the blonde feel weird.
"...That's right. (Y/N) likes chips so I probably should get some for her." Inupi mumbled to himself as he took some, placing it in the shopping cart in front of him.
He went out to go grab a few things as he looked outside, the sky turning dark as stars made themselves known.
He could go out stargazing with (Y/N) tonight, he thought. She liked staring at the sky and he liked spending time with her, so why not do it later?
He looked at his index finger and noticed the same scar he always saw when he looked, although it looked faint now. Still, it was visible though.
Inupi stared at the clear sky, along with (Y/N) who leaned beside him.
She kept on munching on some chips he brought with her, Koko being nowhere as he insisted on not going with them due to thirdwheeling reasons.
Inui tried to calm his racing heart as he tried to remain composed.
"Hey Inupi," she called.
"Hmm?"
"What am I to you?"
The sudden question caught him off-guard, surprised even.
She was more to him that how it seems, something he'd never want to trade for anything.
You could say it was love, and if there was something that surpasses it, well, that's what it is.
...A lover, maybe?
"I don't know but I'm sure I don't want it to change." he clarified.
She smiled, oblivious to him, satisfied with his answer.
"I'm glad."
Inupi made his way to the same place he's been going to for the past years, not minding the breeze getting colder.
He stopped in front of the familiar carved stone as he tidied it up a bit, placing the stuff he brought with him.
(L/N) Family Grave.
"Hey (Y/N), I'm back..."
Inupi stood in front of his girlfriend's house, seeing her off. It would probably be the last time he'd see her, and he was bound to know that later on.
"I'm going inside now. You sure you don't wanna stop by for a while?" she asked.
Her voice as clear as day, sweet as honey with a tinge of worry.
"I'd love to but you know how it is, darling." he apologized.
Damn gang things.
"That's fine. I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?"
He was planning on leaving the gang as it would be safer for her, and he'll finally give her all the attention she wanted.
"Sure. Go inside now, it's cold outside."
She waved one more goodbye to him, along with a little but audible 'I love you!' which of course made him smile.
As he walked out of her place, he responded to her I love you with one of his own, directed only to her. Although she wouldn't hear it, and she probably never will.
Because after that, she left.
She never returned. She never will.
Death is a door in which you can never go back.
Inupi just wished he just said it sooner.
As he tidied the place once again, staying there for about two hours just talking to himself and how his days went, he stood up and bowed at the carved stone in front of him.
"I'll be going now darling. I love you."
He felt cold air brush past him, the same kind in which he liked to think was his (Y/N) hugging him and waving goodbye.
His mind somehow thought of the scar on his left index finger, and about the fact that it'll probably disappear in a few more weeks.
