it had been days since i last saw tucker. he was still on tour with gracie, and i had no idea when i'd see him again-especially now that he had announced dates for his own tour. if i'm being honest, i had never listened to his music before. not until i went to gracie's concert with my friends.

as i waited for cora to open the door, a mix of curiosity and something i couldn't quite name tugged at my chest. i pulled out my phone and searched for him on spotify, pressing play on the first song that came up. maybe this would help me understand him a little better-maybe even bring me closer to him, even if he was miles away.

"what are you doing just standing there? why didn't you come in? you know you have a key, right?" cora's voice pulls me out of my thoughts.

"huh? oh, yeah. sorry, i just got caught up checking something," i say as we start walking up the stairs.

"what were you looking at?" she asks, tilting her head slightly. i don't answer right away, but before i can think of an excuse, she snatches my phone from my hands. her eyes flick to the screen, and a slow, knowing smirk spreads across her face. tucker's spotify profile is open.

"you started listening to him?" cora asks, amusement dancing in her voice.

"yeah, i just got curious about what he sings," i admit with a small laugh, though there's a weird sense of exposure settling in my chest.

"you'd never heard his music before?" she presses, eyes narrowing slightly like she's just uncovered something scandalous.

"honestly, i didn't even know he made music... so, yeah," i confess as we settle onto the couch.

before i can say anything else, drew flops down next to cora, while ky slides into the spot beside me.

"so, what's the plan?" drew asks, stretching his legs out in front of him.

"well, isla was just about to listen to her boyfriend's music," cora teases, shooting me a mischievous grin.

"my boyfriend?? girl..." i scoff, giving her a look.

"you know i'm just joking," she laughs, nudging my knee with hers.

"we should do a listening party! though i've already heard his stuff," ky suggests, a knowing smirk on his face.

"well, duh, you're his friend," drew points out, rolling his eyes.

"exactly, which makes me the perfect guide for isla's first experience with tucker's music," ky says, already grabbing my phone like this has been his plan all along.

i sigh, but there's no fighting it. they're not going to let this go. i brace myself as ky scrolls through tucker's spotify and presses play. the first notes fill the room, and instantly, all three of them turn to watch me.

"no pressure, but we're totally judging your reaction," cora says, barely holding back her smile.

i roll my eyes, but as tucker's voice comes through the speakers, something shifts inside me. i wasn't expecting this. i wasn't expecting to feel this.
