Leilani and Hendery followed after their father and grandmother into the funeral home.

They were the first to arrive to see their mother, sighing deeply as the cool thick air surrounded them. There was so much tension in the room that they didn't know how to deal with it. After Leilani and Hendery left the car, they haven't spoken a word to their father since.

The siblings were first to see their mother, feeling nothing when they saw her. The two hated her more than anything, her and their father. They had no resentment, but they had a little hope that they would at least change.

"Well I was right." Leilani whispered over to him, hearing her brother fight the urge to laugh. "Shh we have to pretend like we're crying.." she added, both of them "wiping" their tears in sync.

"I don't know why you two are here in the first place. Your mother never cared about you guys. You're just here for her will, aren't you?" their father said. Even though he was speaking to the both of them, the way he was looking at Leilani almost made it seem like he was talking to her.

"If you can't tell, she's our mother. It would've been rude of us to not come, but you don't care. You get mad at every little thing we do anyways." Leilani said, attempting to hold herself up. "I don't want to start an argument here—" she started to say.

"Why is it that you never listen, Xiuying? Should we have smacked you harder enough to get your head right? Clearly moving away was a big mistake, you can't even discipline yourself." he said, raising his voice within each syllable.

"Well clearly you haven't stopped drinking because it seems like you can't even discipline yourself at your own wife's funeral." Leilani spoke back to him, watching him step forward, only for Hendery to stop him from coming closer.

"Even if my name were on mom's will I still wouldn't have taken it. I don't want anything for her and I don't want anything from you either!" the girl started to tear up out of frustration, breathing heavily as she spoke.

Soon her father quickly stepped forward, raising a hand to her and expecting a hit, only for nothing to happen. She opened her eyes to see Hendery in front of her, taking the punch that their father had thrown.

"Now look what you made me do! How could you?! You made me hit the only good child we have!" he yelled, causing concern to those working. "If only you listened!"

"No if only you cared, but you don't!" Leilani yelled back. "You don't care about me or Hendery at all!" she said, backing away from him as she grabbed her brother's arm. The boy was still in shock that he even got hit in the first place, more in shock that their father was willing to hurt her.

The two siblings started to leave without another word.

"It hurts..it really hurts.."

"It's okay. I got you."
