Bowser's POV

Today was the day we would finally test out the airship. I spent the last two weeks overseeing its progress. It seemed to be coming along pretty well. If we got it to fly, Luigi would be able to stay here and visit his friends anytime.

Part of me couldn't believe that he agreed on staying here. Heck, I could hardly believe he kissed me last night.

Knowing he felt the same way I did made me feel at ease inside. To think all this time I was chasing after Peach just to fall in love with Mario's brother. I was just so drawn to Luigi.

He was the sweetest guy I ever met. He's the first person who reached out to me and actually made an effort to understand me. He talks so fondly of me and makes me feel good about myself.

I never thought I'd find a human who didn't fear me for my outer appearance, but then I met him. I felt comfortable being me around him. I never felt judged whenever I hung out with him

He was my friend and he made me feel loved. I never had a connection like this with anyone. I just hope things could stay like this.

Though It was only a matter of time until Mario would comes back for his brother. I know he wouldn't be okay with just letting his brother stay here.

What if I lost him? I can hardly bear the thought of him leaving my side to never return. This place wouldn't be the same without him.

I would hardly have a relationship with my son if it weren't for him. I don't think Junior would take Luigi leaving that well either. To Junior, he was practically part of the family.

Sure, Luigi could try explaining that to Mario that we were friends now but what are the odds that he'd believe that? Heck, if someone told me that I'd end up falling in love with Luigi a month ago, I would think they were crazy.

Maybe Luigi would be able to come up with something. My head perked up at the sound of a knock on my door. I got up from my bed and opened the door to one of my henchmen.

"Your presence is requested outside, sir. We believe the airship is adequate enough to test fly." He saluted.

"You got the parachutes, right?" I asked.

"Yes. Everything is set. We're just waiting on you sir."

"Very well. Could you make sure to get Luigi on your way back? I'm not sure if he knows where we're setting up."

"I'll get him from his room." He nodded before leaving.

I shut my room door before grabbing my comb off the dresser. I stood in front of my mirror staring at my red hair.

I began combing my hair to the side to make it look neater than its regular spiked up look it usually has.

I found myself just staring at my reflection in the mirror. I never thought highly of my outer appearance. I used to not think of it much since I was so busy.

But now that I have more free time, I found myself looking more often than I should and I always found something to nit pick.

Whether it was the spikes on my tail. My sharp claws. The spikes on my shell. Or my sharp fangs. This would normally be the part where I picked another part of my body to pick apart.

However, today was different. I found myself smiling at my reflection. The words Luigi spoke to me yesterday were sticking to me and it made me feel good about myself.

He thought I was handsome. He said I had nice eyes. He clearly sees something that I don't. Maybe it sounded silly but, I guess it made me feel happy hearing a guy talk about how handsome he found me. His words were enough to comfort my negative thoughts. After getting my hair to stay in place, I smiled at my reflection one last time before leaving my room.

I stepped outside, my eyes immediately landing on the well-crafted airship. One of the koopa hopped down from the ship greeting me with a brief bow.

"Everything seems to be ready sir. We triple checked just like you asked and we have the parachutes on board."

"Very good. We'll take off shortly."

"Bowser!" I heard from behind me.

I turned around with haste, my eyes landing on Luigi, who was walking towards me with the koopa from earlier.

He was dressed in a black prince-like suit with gold embroidering on the cuffs and collar. He had on white gloves accompanied by black trousers and shoes.

He waved at me as he approached, his gleaming blue eyes looking into mine. An uncontrollable smile spread across my face. His eyes landed on the ship then back over at me.

"Is that the airship?" He asked with an amazed look on his face.

"Y-yeah." I stuttered, still captivated by him."That suit looks really good on you." I said with a flustered smile.

"Does it? I know I've been here for a month now but I still feel like I'm trying to adjust to these fancy outfits. I almost feel kind of goofy in them. They still feel way out of my league." He said, fiddling with his arm sleeve.

"Trust me, you look great."

"Thanks. By the way, I love what you did with your hair. It's a good look on you."

"Oh, thanks." I smiled." So, shall we get on board?"

"Yeah. You guys got the parachutes, right?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing.

"Yep. They're on the ship."

One of the koopa lowered down the stairs.

"After you." I insisted.

Luigi gave a smile before walking up the stairs. I followed him onto the airship. Luigi grabbed one of the parachute backpacks, putting it on with haste. He then joined me by the edge of the ship.

"Are you sure it's safe to stand this close to the edge of the ship?" He asked.

"We have a safety rail installed. It's pretty safe. Besides, I want to see how high off the ground this thing can get."

"Right. That makes sense." He shrugged.

"Thanks again for coming along."

"Of course. You wanted me to. Besides, I should probably get used to riding this ship as soon as possible since this is how we'll be traveling." He smiled.

One of the koopa headed to the front of the ship grabbing the helm.

"Alright everyone, prepare for take off!" He said before starting up the ship.

I watched as the propellers on the ship began turning. They quickly sped up and the ship started to ascend off the ground.

"Look, the ship's starting to lift!" I pointed, looking over at Luigi.

"Yeah. I can see that." He whimpered weakly with a worried look spreading across his face.

Luigi instinctively latched onto my arm as the ship continued to rise into the sky. Soon the ground was hardly in sight. It stopped rising once we were a good distance in the air. The koopa began flying forward to make sure the airship could actually navigate well in the air.

I looked down at the distant castle before looking back down at Luigi who was still clinging to me like his life depended on it.

"Are you going to stay like this the whole time?" I asked him.

"I don't know." He squeaked, his hold on me tightening.

Damn it, why is he this adorable?

"So you're that afraid of heights?" I asked him.

"Yeah. I wasn't any different when me, Peach, and Mario got on a hot air balloon for the first time."

"But you're missing the view. You'd probably like it."

"I'm too scared to look down."

"Just hold on to the safety rail. I'll make sure you won't fall."

"You sure?"

"Very. Just trust me. I'll be right behind you if you somehow lose your grip on the safety rail." I insisted with a smile.

Luigi looked up at me with an uncertain look in his eye. I gave him a reassuring nod. His tense expression softened as he let go of my arm.

He grabbed the safety rail, his eyes taking in the surroundings. I stood closely behind him to keep him at ease.

"Wow. You weren't kidding when you said I was missing the view. We're way high up." He said." Everything looks so small from up here. It's scary, though it's kind of nice in a way."

Luigi seemed to finally ease up as a beautiful smile formed on his face, a small breeze hitting his brown hair. I found myself just staring at his smiling face. My eyes were fixed on him. He was beautiful.

I was still uncertain how much time I actually had with Luigi, but I wanted to make the most of every single minute I had with him.

Luigi then looked back up at me.

"So, do you still have a fear of heights?" I asked him.

"Yeah. But I won't let my fear stop me from enjoying this with you." He smiled.

He took one of his hands off the safety rail and grabbed my hand. I glanced down at his hand before looking up at him.

He had the most charming smile I had ever seen. A smile formed on my face as my heart sped up. The two of us held hands until the airship landed. We all stepped off the airship.

"That was a lot more fun than I expected." Luigi said.

"I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Thanks again for coming along."

"Of course."

Part of me was tempted to bring up the kiss from last night but I couldn't think of a way how to, so I just let it go as the two of us parted ways for the rest of the day.

AN: I know, it's short. But hey, short fluff is kinda what I'm good at. I promise the next chapter is longer 😭
