Abandoned trails aren't everyone's cup of tea. No one is going to maintain them, no one else is going to be there, most times the signs have either been vandalized, destroyed, or fallen apart making them unreadable, and it's almost a guarantee that there will be no cell service. But it's most of those things that make you favor abandoned trails. It's quiet, empty, and most of the time overrun with beautiful nature.
So when you found a Reddit threat about 'creepy' abandoned trails you figured you had hit the jackpot! And for the most part, you did, each week you'd pick one from the list and go there, never did it disappoint you either. This week you came across a weird one, it was less about the trail and more about the park connected to it. Apparently, a few years back three completely different children all went missing from the park during the same week. Nothing was ever found, it was like they vanished into thin air.
You pulled into the park's old parking lot, the cracked and chipped asphalt making you worry for your car. Slowly setting out you looked around. In its prime it must have been a fun place for the children of this small town; a large swing set, two slides, a merry-go-round, walking board, and those weird animals that connect to swirling metal the kids can rock on. But now, it looked right out of a YA dystopian horror novel.
The grass and vines have become very overgrown, reaching up and grabbing onto the playground equipment like hands reaching up from hell, rust and decay have taken bright colors and made them dull and horrific, and mystery stains littered every surface along with spray paint. The one happy and joyful place children probably begged their parents to bring them now sent a shiver up your spine. Prehaps coming for an early morning run was a mistake as the fog looming through was making this scene ten times worse. But you turned away, it's not like your hear for the park, your hear for the trail behind it.
So you grabbed your little bag and locked your car. You walked through the park, dead silence made your ears ring a little. When you made it to the other side it felt like you crossed a line in the sand. Like you shouldn't be there but you already came all this way you're not leaving because of a little paranoia. You slipped your headphones on found the trail's head. An opening in the trees where a wooden bridge had been built out so you could run over the water. People were really missing out by ditching this place, not many running trails are over water.

Maybe it wasn't just the kids that this place is fully abandoned, see no maintenance was ignorable on trails through the woods or paved off on the side but wooden trails over fucking water need maintenance. And that became clear to you as you started having to step over cracked, broken, or missing planks on the wooden floor. And things went from bad to worse when you started to notice spiderwebs...lots of large spiderwebs! It looked like it snowed spiderwebs down, there had to be a civilization of spiders hiding within the thick walls of trees on each side of the railing.
It made your skin crawl, you removed the left side of your headphones and once again got met with the deafening sound of silence. Yesh, did the spiders kill all the little critters that are usually screaming in areas like this? You slowed your run to a walk when you came across a rest area, a square built off to the side with benches attached. You didn't want to sit in spiderweb city but you did step off to catch your breath. It made you chuckle a bit, stepping off to the side as if you would inconvenience someone else by standing in the middle of the trail-
A soft cracking sound pulled you out of your head, you slipped the headphones off and listened again another crack and you felt the wood below you slump a bit. Shit! Slowly you turned but it was already too late. The wood below you gave way, causing your body to fall, you felt every slice the wood made on your skin as you went through the large crack that is now a hole.
Yet it wasn't cold slimy water that greeted you. It was a honestly huge and stick web that caught your fall, and you. You struggled for a few moments but this web wasn't normal, it had caught you like a mouse in a glue trap with no hope of breaking it to get out. What the fuck are these spiders eating, steroids!?
You huffed, you couldn't even move your hand to grab your phone, you probably wouldn't have cell service anyway. And then you felt it, vibrations on the web bigger than the ones you made earlier. And then, you saw it.
A scream that could rival a horror movie actress ripped from your throat as the thing came into view. His top half was normal, other than being naked of course. Fair skin, blonde hair, green eyes, a little tummy touch. But his bottom is what had you screaming like a little girl. A black and yellow spider's bottom with arachnid legs. Just his bottom had to be the size of a horse. He jumped at your screams and rushed away. You screamed and cried until your throat raw and bleeding could no longer make noise.
When the screaming died down you saw blonde hair peak up from behind the web, and when you saw him move the hair out his face fully you wished you could scream again. He had 8 green eyes and his mouth had those weird spider fangs. Tears streamed from your eyes once more, a silent cry as he crawled onto the web
"Im sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."
It spoke! It can speak human language! You felt his human hand wipe your face "Dont worry I gave up eating humans a while ago. But your gonna be stuck in my net for a while-I should go get you some food- I'll be right back."
