So far it had been smooth sailing, or you guess driving. Ever since you got the acceptance letter from your dream school you've been in an excited frenzy to get things done. Shopping, packing, planning, texting. You felt you didn't really have a moment to just relax even when you were relaxing. But right now with your friend, in the car you got as a present for getting accepted, with the music blaring and your favorite iced coffees in the cup holder you did feel relaxed yet still excited. Just the perfect amount to make a road trip this long with no stops fun.
In just another few hours you'd be at your designation, after eating some prepackaged dinner you and your friend would be getting help with moving all your things into the dorm you'd probably spend the next four to six years in. It felt so surreal. Your dream major at your dream college and you were lucky enough to get a dorm with your friend. The stars had turely aliened for you it seemed.
But over the sounds of your radio and off-key singing, you heard the crack of loud thunder that felt like it shook your car followed by a bright smack of lightening in the ever-darkening sky. Well, that kind of sucks, but you paid no mind to it as you kept going. It's just a little rain after all...Not just a little rain, a storm that became so bad you couldn't see your parent's car that was once right Infront of you, your honesty not even sure if they still are. So, at the first exit you came upon you honked and then quickly turned off. After a two minute on the exit road, you saw the lights of a building and quickly pulled into the parking lot.
Pulling up next to the gas pump of a run-down gas station you took a breath, thankful to no longer be on the highway in this kind of weather. The rain couldn't reach you under the canopy of the gas pump, so you could see a little better, the storm seemed bad like it was the start of a tropical storm. Quickly you grabbed your phone, you figured you'd let your parents know what happened. They'd turn around and your mom could drive you guys until you guys until the passed and you could take the reins again. Only for your phone to be dead as a doornail, trying to plug it end was deemed useless by the fact your charger seemed to suddenly be fucking broken when it worked just last night!
"Great, just great. Sam let me see your phone, please." She frowned "I broke it a few days ago remember? I don't have one for another few weeks."
You sighed, heavily, as you grabbed your wallet and counted to three. On three you both flung the doors open and ran from your car to the safely of the dry gas station. Once inside you noticed how, gross it looked. Dusty, upswept, and smelling of must. Like you're the first people to open that door since the early 90s. But you couldn't be as there was a black-haired man behind the desk, completely ignoring you as he read what seemed to be Dracula.
"Excuse me sir, do you guys sell phone chargers?"
"Nope. Payphones on the wall outside though ma'am." His voice came out gruff, like he hasn't spoken to another person in years. You chalked it up to the eyebags under his eyes. He looked dead tired. You wanted to sigh again but you didn't, not wanting to be rude to a poor guy who's just doing his job. "Thank you, have a nice day." You both walked out before he could look up at you, meaning you missed the fact his face looked bludgeoned in and covered in his own blood that dripped down onto his black uniform. Slowly he faced away, like dust in the wind, leaving only the copy of Dracula covered in dust and very old dry blood where he once was leaning. His corpse on the floor behind the counter nothing but a pile of bones now, dead bugs with nothing to eat anymore between them along with the clothes turning to dust piles.
You groaned before you hung the phone back on the wall, deadline was the only thing that you heard when trying to use it. Turning back to your friend you hoped she had an idea because all you had was get back on the highway and pray to God. She was scanning a board incased in glass, a million old flyers littering it. "There's a motel only a few minutes from here. Maybe they have a phone, and maybe a room while we wait for your parents to find us. Really get out the rain, warm up, shower. Something."
You nodded, that didn't sound like too bad of an idea. Quickly you guys rushed back to your car and jumped in, shaking from the freezing rain that could no longer attack your skin. As you drove you once again shivered causing Sam to turn the heater up "I'm not cold...does this place seem like a ghost town to you? Lights are on but I haven't seen another car-another person since the gas station. A town off the highway this place should be bustling at least a little bit."
She shrugged, she didn't notice it till you said something "Maybe it's the storm, it's got people running for shelter. Just like us." You gave her a slow nod but kept your eyes on the empty road ahead like you were scared a car would come out of nowhere. Once you guys pulled up to the crappy little motel you felt the weight on the chest release. Two cars in the parking lot so there would defiantly be rooms. Hopefully they have a phone then.
Once inside the front office you were both shaking like leaves in the early fall winds, the storm was hailing down freezing rain without mercy and your light comfort clothes did nothing to help you guys with that. The guy behind the front desk gave you a smile, his bright green eyes scanning the both of you from where you stood by the door "And here I thought I was gonna have another quite shift to read through. You ladies got caught out in the storm huh, Need a room?"
"Actually, a phone, do you guys have a payphone or something?" Your friend asked as you took the two towels he pulled from behind the desk and offered up to you. Probably because your making pebbles on his floor "Nope, but you can use my personal cell long as ya give it back." He handed it to Sam as she took the towel from you, and after a few minutes on the phone she hung up, making sure to carefully hand it back to him.
"Your mom said they bunkered down for the night to a little after they lost us, that we should get a room for the night, and they'll meet us here in the morning." You nodded as you grabbed your purse and placed it on the desk. Making light conversation with the blonde-haired man as he checked you guys in "Room 234, for the pretty lady and her friend." He handed you a key with a smile, his breath reeked of cigarettes. You took it quickly with a smile, but he was honestly giving you the creeps. Even more so after his hand brushed yours. Running to your room you both laughed about him once inside and locked up. Wet, cold, and hungry. Your supposed to be moving your things into your dorm room right now! How life likes to smack people in the face when they're at their happiest.
"You shower first, I'll run out and grab the bag with the food so we can eat." Same spoke "Guess I should grab a bag each so we can get some clothes on too huh." You nodded as you opened the closet looking for fresh towels "Huh...Sam the people before us left all their shit." You turned but she was already closing the door behind herself, so you grabbed a towel and went to the phone in the room to ring the front desk. Yet it rang and rang so you simply hung up and went off to shower.
It wasn't anything long, 20 minutes tops but that's plenty of time for Sam to have gotten the bags, came back, and set out dinner. So, when you walked out in nothing but a towel to find the room empty it was shocking. You opened the door, met with the cold winds the storm carried with it and scanned the dark wet parking lot, you didn't see Sam by your car.
"Sam!? ...Sam! ...Samantha!" You stopped yelling and squinted; she was sitting in the car! Oh, thank God! You sighed in relief, shes probably just warming up. You waved and closed the door to get out of the wind and rains assault.
Now what you did next was probably very wrong...but they did leave all their shit. So, you dug through it and eventually you did find a charger. Plugging your phone in you smiled, one less thing to worry about. You also found a heavy coat and wrapped it around your towel before you rushed outside to the car to get Sam and your shit inside so you could eat and get to bed. But before you could wrap your hand around the handle and opened the door, you noticed the blood smeared all over the car's door. You froze. Looking into the car you realized she was not sitting in the car warming up, she was stabbed into the seat bleeding out. Slowly she turned her head to you and when she opened her mouth you screamed, noticing her tongue was gone!
You turned and ran back to the room, yanking on the door in a frenzied panic only to come to the shitty realization that it had locked behind you and the key was on the dresser in the locked fucking room! You turned and looked around the dark parking lot, yet it was still empty. You rushed to the front office, but it too was also locked, not only locked but the lights where off. You were crying now, in a panic trying to figure out what to do.
Locked out of the building, a storm, and apparently a fucking killer!
You ran back to the car and jumped in, locking the doors behind you as your breathing came heavy and hard, eyes clouded with tears. You realized same was speaking but with no tongue and her contiguousness fading you couldn't understand anything.
"You know, I knew she'd be easy, but I thought you might be a little difficult. Yet you handed yourself right over to me." You screamed as the bloody front desk worker smiled at you from the backseat where he was apparently hiding. You quickly pushed the car open and got out, he followed from his own door.
"What the fuck!" You screamed out, not at him just to the world. A few hours ago, you were singing along to some old song while heading to collage and now you seem to be in a fight for your life! He smiled at you "A man's gotta eat." You wanted to vomit, to scream, cry, curl into a ball. But you couldn't. You were staring a murder in the face, this was no time to lose your shit.
He pulled the knife out of Sam and twirled it around as he started walking over to you, rushing to the office doors again he thought you stupid as he followed. Only to be hit in the face by the planter you grabbed and chucked at him. He laughed after the shock ended, wiping the blood from the cut on his face "Oh, you're going to regret that bitch! Wherever you are!" He looked around, and you held your breath from under the car that was in the parking lot before yours.
You have no plan, you're working on that! Right now, all you can think is survive. But then you screamed as a hand grabbed your ankle and yanked you from the car, before slicing both your of them deep. The pain was burning hot in the cold rain as you cried out. The man above you laughed "You've got spunk baby. I'm not gonna end you quite yet. I want to enjoy ever sick moment of breaking that spirt."

You smiled at the couple that came in through the door "Happy Halloween, looking for a spooky room?"
Hizashi smiled as he came out the back, wrapping an arm around you as he made small talk with the couple. You caught the glint of the knife tucked into the back of his pants and moved his shirt to hide it. He smiled wider, his sweet little helper.
