Chapter 15

"Grmphh..." You hear Yuu groan beside you as he lifted his head up.

Your eyes fluttered open at the sound of pouncing on the door. Again.

If it was Crowley this time you'd cry.

You got up while grumbling some incoherent words. Grim rolled out of bed and fell onto the ground.

Yuu got up aswell. Now he was the one less awake between the two of you.

Ace was getting up from the couch aswell when you came downstairs. "Duuude... Who is pounding on the door at this hour?!"

The person knocked again, and a cloud of dust fell down from the ceiling.

"Bleah! Every hit kicks up a dust storm! I'm coming, I'm coming!"

Ace almost ran to the door and swung it open just as you all arrived in the Entry Hall.

There stood the one causing all this ruckus. Deuce.

"I figured I'd find you here." He said as he looked at the ginger who opened the door.

Ace eyes widened at the sight of the boy. "Ugh. Deuce."

Deuce's expression remained serious. "So, you ate the Housewarden's tart. You really are an idiot, Ace.

"Oh, shut up!" Ace frowned at the Cian eyed boy. "Like you're one to talk! Anyway, uh... Is he still mad?"

Deuce shook his head. "Not at all. Maybe a touch irritated, if anything. A few of our dormmages overslept this morning. But only three of 'em got your treatment."

"You call that "not at all" mad?!  Sounds like he's still on the rampage, to me." Ace sneered.

You all just ignored him and got ready for your very first day at Night Raven College.

You all walked through main street. You and Yuu were now wearing the NRC Uniform.

Crowley dropped them off around 10 minutes after Deuce joined you, and then ran away because he had important business stuff to do.

Yuu was wearing it properly, with his jacket open. The same way Ace was, only his vest and arm band were a very light blue-/purple, just like Grim's magestone.

You were also wearing a regular uniform, since there couldn't be a girls uniform made last minute. You weren't wearing a jacket, and the sleeves of your blouse were rolled up to your elbows.

Under your blouse you were still wearing your long fingerless gloves, that covered the open space from your fingers to your elbow back into your blouse. You were wearing an extra belt, that hung loosely on your hips and waist, that you had attached your vision too.

Grim was walking infront of you all, yelling at the students passing by. "Move it! Outta the way! Night Raven College student comin' through!"

The cat turned towards Ace with a smirk. "Oh? Did my collar catch your eye? It is way better than the one you're stuck with! You know? The one that makes it so you can't use magic?"

Ace scowled at the cat's mocking as the creature continued to speak. "But hey, the school could always use another janitor! Bwahahahaha!"

Yuu frowned. "Way to take the high road, Grim."

You didn't look to happy with his behavior either. "Behave, you're still on a thin line."

Ace was still scowling. "Grrrr! Trust me Grim, when I get my magic back, your hide is first up on the chopping block!"

Deuce interupted before either one of the two could continue. "Listen to Y/n. Did the headmage not JUST tell you yesterday, no more incidents?"

"Regardless, you're not going to be able fo participate in class if you can't use magic. Why not just apologize to the Housewarden? It's a small price to pay for having the collar removed." Deuce brought up your idea from last night.

Ace's shoulders slumped hearing the idea. "Aaaaaargh! I hate this so! SO!Much!"

Grim climbed up to sit on your shoulder. "Hmm. Ya know, we do still have some time to kill before class starts. And I am kinda curious about the other dorm. Guess I'll go along and scope out the place while you make with the groveling."

"Since when did this become a field trip?!" Ace yelled at the small monster.

"I must admit I'm curious aswell. You two are in Heartslabyul, right?" You asked.

Deuce nodded. "Yes, we are. Let's go, I'll show you and Yuu around."

You all entered the hall of mirrors. Ace and Deuce headed to the Mirror and the far left.

It had the Heartslabyul logo at the complete top, and was decorated with cards and roses all around the entrance.

The Heartslabyul duo stepped through the mirror, and you followed behind slowly together with Yuu and Grim.

There was a bright light as you stepped inside, making you close your eyes.

When you opened them again your eyes tell onto a huge red and creme colored building, surrounded by a beautiful rose garden. Infront of the castle like building was a fountain, that was placed in the middle of a heart.

Your eyes sparkled slightly at the pretty sight, a small smile coming onto your face.

"Dang, this place is swank! This is nothing like our dumpster of a dorm." Grim said while looking around aswell.

"Our dorm is a work-in-progress!" Yuu blurted out before you could.

You turned and saw an orange haired boy standing in the maze of roses. "Aww yeah, I am getting my paint on!" He said to himself.

Grim noticed him aswell when he followed your gaze. "Ah, someone's here."

"They all gotta be red, or it's "off with my head"!" The orange haired boy rhymed with a slight smile on his face.

"I've seen this somewhere before..." Yuu muttered, and you gave him a confused look.

"Did you say something, Yuu?" You asked, making him jump a little.

"Huh, oh. No I didn't..." He closed his ocean blue eyes and shook his head.

You all walked over to the boy, who looked up from whatever he was doing.

"Huh?" He turned towards you all. "You guys need something?" He asked with a smile.

He had around medium length orange hair, close to reaching his shoulders. It was tied halfway in a small bun. He had light green eyes, and a red diamond shaped marking just like the other two from his dorm. Only his was on his right cheek, instead of the corner of his eye.

"What are you doing there?" Ace asked as he tilted his head.

The green eyed boy replied. "Are you blind? I'm painting these roses red, duh."

Ace and Deuce looked really surprised for some reason. "What?! Why?!" Deuce asked.

The new boy chuckled. "Ah ha ha. So naïve, you put the "n" in newb." His eyes then widened when he took a better look at you all.

"Hold the phone, I know you! You're the ones why broke a billion-thaumark chandelier and nearly fot expelled for it, yeah?"

You groaned and threw your head back in annoyance. Yuu didn't look to happy with the comment aswell, and turned his gaze away from your two Heartslabyul friends.

Ace slumped his shoulders. "That chandelier is gonna haunt us till the day we graduate, isn't it?"

The boy kept smiling as if he didn't know what misery he just brought upon you all. "And you!" The orange head pointed at Ace. You're the one who ate the Housewarden's tart that same night!"

Ace's eyes widened even more and the sighed in sighed dramatically.

The green eyes boy just continued. "You guys are THE hot topic around campus! I've gotta get in on this fleeting fame. I'm just gonna grab a selfie real quick..."

He pulled you all towards him and made a piece sign. He pressed a button on a weird rectangular device he was holding and smiled.

He then went back to his position infront of you all. "It's cool if I post this on Magicam, right? Gimme your names so I can tag you."

"I'm Deuce Spade." Deuce introduced himself first.

Ace followed a frown on his face. "Ace."

"I'm Grim, and these are my hench-humans, Yuu and Y/n." Grim pointed at you and Yuu.

"Nice to meet you, but what's a...magiccam... thing?" You asked while tilting your head.

The orange hair side-eyed you and then smiled when he pressed something else on the device. "Uploaded! Sweet. Oh, I'm Cater Diamond, by the way. I'm a junior here at Heartslabyul."

He held his hand up in a peace sign again. "But Cater is fine. Or Cay-Cay if you're cray-cray! Sooo, nice to meetcha!"

You had no idea what the things he just said ment.

"It's a pleasure." Yuu nodded aswell.

"Ah, you're the prefect of that so-called Ramshackle House dorm, right?" He turned towards you. Like I can't believe you actually live there! It's all gloomy and looks like hot garbage on Magicam. No filter could salvage THAT dump."

Grim glared and crossed his arms. "Y-know, you've done nothin' but diss us here, pal!"

Cater was about to reply to Grim, when his eyes widened and his smile disappeared. "Gah, what am I doing? I don't have time to chat! The party's tomorrow. If we're not ready, it's 'off with my head"!"

He then seemed to get an idea and turned towards you all. "Hey, you kids wanna help me paint some roses?"

"Yeah, uh... Why are we doing that exactly?" Ace asked the question you also wanted to ask.

Cater pulled up his peace sign again. "Because red roses are zo much more photogenic! Or...something....? And after that, I've gotta start getting things ready for the big croquet tournament. And that means coloring all tye flamingos."

He sighed, and Grim looked at the orange hair weirdly. "You're colorin' flamingos now? Isn't anything the right color around here?!"

Deuce turned to Ace. "Now its coming into focus, Ace. That tart you ate must have been for the Housewarden's birthday. That explains his reaction!"

Cater stopped Deuce from continuing. "Hm? Oh, no, it's not Riddle's birthday."

Ace looked shocked for the so maniest time today. "It's not? Then whose birthday is it?"

Cater crossed his arms with a smile. "It isn't anyone's birthday. Tomorrow is our dorms traditional unbirthday party."

You felt stupid. First you didn't know what this Magical-thing was, and now and unbirthday?

As if Cater noticed all of your confusion he went on. "It's a special tea party we throw when no one has a birthday -I'd the Housewarden feels like it."

Your mouth turned into an 'oh shape, and you nodded at his explanation.

"And why would you do that?" Ace asked after processing.

Cater sent him a close-eyed smile. "Again with the questions! Listen, I need these roses to he red. Like, yesterday. Can't you guys help out with magic or something? Oh, but Ace is on magical house arrest and Yuu and Y/n are totally normals, so you three better stick to paint."

You frowned. You had other qualities, you weren't just a normal because you couldn't wave a stick around and male stuff happen.

Deuce nodded, but looked kind of nervous. "Recolor the roses with magic..."

"Can't say I've ever done this before." Grim mumbled.

Cater smiled and waved as if reassuring you all. "Relax, it'll be fine. You got this! But maybe do it before I lose my head? K-thanx!"

You grabbed a bucket of paint, as did Yuu and Ace. Together you all went towards one of the rose bushes with white roses.

This was gonna be a mess.
