After I talked with Izuru I came back to my office. I plopped on the sofa and fell asleep. But my slumber was interrupted because of phone vibrating in my pocket. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. Taking out an ancient device I got a message from Nagito.
Unknown number: <3
Nagito? : Me
I waited few minutes for reply but no answer came from his side.
Damn you, Dandelion-head!
I sat on my chair and banged my head on the table. "Miss, (Your name)!" I heard a masculine yelp as someone entered the room. "You didn't knock." I grumbled. "Sorry miss!" Hiro bowed in apology. "Whatever. Why are you here?" I raised my head. "We're waiting for your orders!" He smiled brightly. "I don't have any job for you guys." I mumbled. "You're free to go." I patted Kibo on the head as he kept his head on my knee.
"But miss! We won't achieve anything if we'll sit here." Hiro exclaimed. "What do you purpose?" I didn't bother to look at my subordinate. "Excuse me?" He was stunned by my question. "What do you purpose? In other words. . . What shall we do?" I looked at him. "Umm. . . Well. . . We can inspect the academy! Yeah!" He beamed. "Haha. . . Hahahahaha!" I started laughing at his stupidity. "Do. . .hahaha! Do. . . *sigh* Do you really think I haven't done it already?!" I yelled. His smile slowly faded away.
"I'm sorry miss." Hiro sighed and looked at the ground. Still, he was right. After few more minutes of silence I finally spoke up. "Call the team. We're heading out." I resumed patting the lazy canine. "R-really?!" He smiled. "Yeah, yeah. Move your chicken legs already!" I groaned as he dashed away from my office. Slowly standing up I wore my coat and shifted my gaze onto the dog. "Let's go find your owner." I smiled as Kiboinu jumped up and walked towards me. "Be a good boy, 'kay?" I tied a leash to his (favorite color) collar.
Walking out of my office I bumbed into Juzo. Again. "Hey sugar, you okay?" He eyed me. "Yeah, what's the rush?" I shot back. "We got info about some menslaughter in the centre of Towa town." He grumbled as I went alongside him. "Towa town. . ?"
According to the notes Nagito was seen near the gate of this town.
"I'm coming with you." I said. "Wait for my team in the parking lot." I ordered. "There might be a remnant on the loose." I mumbled. "Miss, we're ready!" Hiro popped out of nowhere. "Good timing. Let's go." I marched towards the elevator and pressed the parking lot floor. Soon, all of us were ready to go. Juzo sat in the driver seat of his car I sat next to him on the front seat. Fastening the seat belt he started the engine and drove off, other cars followed us behind.
"Why do you think that remnant is in Towa town?" Juzo asked his eyes glued on the bumpy road. "Intuition." I sighed. "Hope your intuition is right." He grumbled. The rest of the ride we spent in comfortable silence, both devoured in our own thoughts.
I just want to see Nagito and make sure he's safe.
I'll save him.
No matter what.
We arrived on the spot. It was a terrible sight. Many Monokuma-like bots were walking around destroyed bloody streets. When one robot saw a human they attacked immediately tearing flesh and bones off the poor citizens. There was a terrible stench of rotting flesh and iron blood in the air. "Is this how hell feels like?" I heard Hiro mumble.
"Listen up!" Juzo commanded. "(Your name), lead your team and search for survivors. While we'll win you some time." He said. "Mikasa, we have to split up. Take Hiro, Maika, Kyoya and Arata. Search around the main square. Rest, follow me!" I yelled and ran off, Kibo following me.
We searched around half destroyed apartments and buildings. "P-please! Help us!" I heard a girly squeal. We all dashed towards the pleading shout. The one who was calling for help was a young lady, she stood behind the broken wall that blocked the entrance to the old building. I looked her in the eyes.
Do I know her?
"Are you just gonna stare at me or save us?!" She yelled. "Yeah sure." I walked towards her and started removing the bricks and stones that blocked the way. After few minutes the entrance was cleared.
In the dark void of remains of the old building we saw a group of people. "Don't worry, we're from future foundation. We will help you all." I reassured everyone. "Daichi, call Emiyo and share the location. Let everyone come here." I ordered.
"Excuse me miss. . ." I heard a hoarse feminine voice behind me as someone carefully took my hand. "My granddaughter, she ran away during the evacuation. Can you please find her?" Old woman sobbed. "Is there anything that belonged to her?" I asked. "This plush, it's her favorite." Old woman gave me a pink bunny plushie. "Kibo, search." I let the dog sniff the toy. Suddenly, he ran off. "Get them to safety, I'll find the missing girl." I gave my last order and ran after Kiboinu.
I huffed and puffed as we arrived at the place, it was a big shopping mall. When I took a step onto the marble floor my footstep echoed through the whole abandoned construction. Kibo walked towards the second-floor while sniffing the ground.
Suddenly, I heard a sweet melodic song. It was a sound of a music box.
I walked towards the sound and saw a little girl sitting in the toy store while happily eating ice cream. "There you are!" I smiled. "Who are you?" The girl gasped and walked towards me. "Are you (Your name)?" She asked curiously. "Yes, that's me." I nodded, quite surprised. "So, cloud-head mister wasn't lying!" She smiled. "Cloud-head. . . Mister?" I was completely oblivious of what she was talking about. "I got lost until I found one very funny looking mister. He had crazy fluffy white hair and this music box." Girl pointed to the little wooden box. "Said that it was a present for you, the (hair color) haired miss named (Your name)." She explained.
"When did he left?!" I grabbed the girl by her shoulders. "He left few minutes ago, ran off to that direction." She pointed towards the staircase. "What else did he say?" I carefully placed her hand in mine. "He said that he wants to protect you. . . Oh! And that he loves you!" She smiled.
"What's your name?" I asked the little girl. "Chiaki Azami." She said. "C-chi. . .aki?" I felt a tear run down my cheek as I remembered my deceased classmate. "Is something wrong?" Chiaki stared at me worryingly. "No, just. . . Something got into my eye." I wiped my tears off. "Wait! You have a dog!" She ran towards Kibo and hugged him. "He's so fluffy. . . And cute!" Azami-chan started playing with the dog, meanwhile I walked aside and reached for my walkie-talkie. "Mikasa, I'm in the mall, found survivor." I said. ". . . Roger that." I heard in reply. I slowly walked towards the music box and closed the lid. The music stopped leaving the mall in complete silence. I took the box with me.
"Okay, Chiaki. Your grandmother was searching for you, she was worried sick." I sighed. "Oh no! Nana can't be worried! She has a heart disease. Mommy told me." Azami-chan gasped. "Then let's get going." I took her hand as we started walking towards the exit. "Is cloud mister your boyfriend?" Girl asked curiously. "I guess." I shrugged as small blush crept onto my cheeks. "He looked very sad, although he was smiling." Chiaki sighed. "What?" I looked at her. "When we heard your footsteps his smile turned to frown as he ran away." She explained.
"Nagito! Nagito! I know you're here." I yelled as my voice echoed through the empty shops and halls. "I. . . Miss you." I chocked out while trying to suppress my worry and negative thoughts. He was so near, yet so far. I entered the main hall and sat near the fountain. Suddenly I heard a loud thud and raspy. "Ow!" I dashed towards the sound. It was coming from one of the storage rooms of once popular supermarket.
There he was. . . Beneath the old boxes that pressed him to the ground. "Man, am I lucky." Nagito said sarcastically. "Nagito!" I yelled and fell on top of him. "Ugh. . . There goes my guts." He mumbled. "Oops, sorry!" I giggled and stood up. "The hug is not over yet!" He pulled me close and pecked my cheek.
"(Your name)?! Are you okay? I can hear some rumbling noise." Juzo's voice emerged from my walkie-talkie. "Tch. Not now." I sighed. "I'm fine." I said into my device. "Shall I come?" Sakakura grew nervous, I could tell it by his voice. "No need. I'll be back soon-." I said but Nagito snatched my walkie-talkie and threw it into the wall completely smashing the device.
"The fuck?" I looked at the white-haired guy. "I want your attention here, on me." He had a serious yet cute expression, as if a cat wanting to be petted. "You're doomed. Sakakura will notice that I don't reply and will be here soon." I buried my face into his shoulder. "I know. That's why I must go." He stood up and kissed my lips softly.
"Already?! I wanted your attention too you know!" I pouted. "Hehe, don't worry. I'll text you." "(YOUR NAME)!!!" We heard Sakakura yell. "Shh. . . There's the exit. Better hurry." I whispered.
"Shit." He mumbled as he tried to open the door. "It's locked." He stated. Many thoughts and ideas crossed my mind in lighting speed as I tried to find a solution to our current situation. Suddenly I saw a box that was filled with unpacked knives.
This might work.
"I have an idea." I smiled and opened one box taking out a steel kitchen knife. "When I nod you must kick open the door and run as fast as you can." I instructed. "I trust you, sweetheart." He smiled prepairing to kick the door.
I took the knife and raised it above my thigh.
This plan is stupid.
But it might work.
It's all just for him.
With one single blow I pierced my thigh with the kitchen knife. I yelled in pain and nodded. Nagito looked at me in pure confusion and horror until he snapped out of it and kicked open the door. He stood near the exit confused whether he should help me or run away. I gestured for him to go, he clenched his fists and unwillingly ran away. The moment Nagito just ran outside the storage door opened to reveal Sakakura. "What happe- oh my God." He quickly picked me up and ran away towards the main exit.
"I'm fine." I sobbed out. "You're bleeding badly, of course you're not fine!" He grumbled. "Mikasa! Hiro! Start the engine, fast! (Your name) is hurt." Juzo yelled as we got into the car. Without further a-do the car screeched off towards the foundation. Juzo tried to stop my bleeding leg while Mikasa drove on full speed, meanwhile Hiro tried to calm me down. I cried in pain but tried to suppress my tears. No use. It pained so much. But despite the pain, I was happy.
He escaped, my plan worked!
The next thing I knew I was in hospital bed. Many nurses and doctors swarmed around me as I lied there half conscious. Then I felt a slight pricking in my arm, afterwards everything grew black.
I woke up from someone lighting a flashlight into my eye. I blinked and opened my eyes to see a bunch of worried faces. There was Juzo, Mikasa, Hiro, Ryoto even Makoto and Kyoko came. I huffed and sat up only to feel a sharp pain in my right thigh. "Better don't move your leg. The wound might open up again." Juzo grunted.
"W-what happened? H-how did y-you got hurt?!" Makoto squeaked out. "Remnant. I found him in the storage room and tried to confront, but someone came in and startled the poor guy." I glared at Juzo. "What?! You didn't reply, I was worried you know!" He growled. "Ah! Whatever!" He stomped away. "So, the remnant heard Juzo's yells and thought that it was a trap. He ran away but I dashed after him. Remnant took out the knife and stabbed me in the thigh." I lied. It seemed as everyone believed my story, but Kirigiri looked suspicious.
"I'm sorry to interrupt but, Mrs. (Last name) needs some rest." Nurse walked towards us. "Oh, okay." Hiro sighed and walked away, Mikasa by his side. "Take care." Ryoto give me a patient smile as he walked after the duo. "We must go too." Makoto sighed. "Get well soon." He smiled and started walking away but Kyoko stood motionless. "I'll stay for a little longer." She said calmly.
Shit! Not her!
"I'll wait for you outside then." "No need." She spoke coldly as Makoto left the room. "Is something wrong?" I tried to keep my cool. "Yes, pretty much everything." Kyoko sighed.
