Everything happened so quickly. Did the girl really start to attack you with the knife?
Your consciousness kept on fading. Your body went numb, and all the sounds around you were silenced...
...One thought swirled through your mind...
...
...
...
...Were you going to die?
Just as you thought your dream came true, it'll all fall apart.
You started to feel convinced that this was your end.
...that is until...
...
...
...
...you could slowly start to feel your consciousness return. Bright lights shined in your face. You were still numb and unable to move.
"Stay with me, help is on its way." A female voice said.
The light slowly darkened, and you kept on hearing the female speak, but the voice only grew fainter.
Knowing that you were alive gave you more motivation to try to stay conscious.
You could see your vision continuously fade in and out. At every peak, you could tell you were in a different setting, so time must've been flying by faster than you'd realized One moment you hear the distant sound of sirens, the next you found yourself seeing bright lights, then next seeing a bunch of what appear to be doctors huddled around you.
It soon clicked with you that you were in the hospital. Does that mean you were safe now?
You heard the doctors talking amongst themselves, but it was impossible for you to make out what they were saying. You were worried about what condition your body was in, but all you knew was that its something the doctors couldn't handle it.
You finally decided to relax and fall into a deep slumber...
...
...
...
...finally, pain swirled around your body as it no longer felt numb. It wasn't unbearable, though, like you had imagined.
Your eyes slowly opened as you caught a glimpse of the bright white hospital room.
A glimpse of pink came into view, and you slowly made out it was a person as your vision cleared up.
"You're finally awake," a female voice spoke, "how are you feeling?"
The female speaking to me was tall and had long bright pink hair. For some reason, she reminded you of a... fox?
"A little sore," you admitted, "were you the person who rescued me?"
The lady nodded.
It took you a moment to ask, "what happened, exactly?"
"Someone had a knife and began to stab you at random, luckily that person seemed to be unfamiliar with using a knife and left you with mild injuries." She explained, "although the person left the scene right as I showed up, I was unable to identify them."
She sighed as you responded, "does that mean that person is still roaming around the city?"
"Unfortunately, yes." The pink-haired woman hated to break the truth, "I'm not trying to pressure you, but do you remember any details on how the person looked if you even saw them?"
As much as you didn't want to, you tried to replay the faint memories in your mind of what occurred. "It was a girl, she was taller than me." you answered, "I wasn't able to get a clear look at her face, but she almost looked like someone who goes to my school..."
The lady put her hand on her chin, "hmm, well, I'll make sure to share this information with the police and they'll be able to investigate further."
You nodded as you decided to sit up. Your body ached as you moved your position, but this way you were able to get a better view of everything.
"I forgot to ask, what's your name?" You asked.
"Yae Miko," she replied.
The name sounded awfully familiar to you. It took you a moment to realize that she was a famous author.
Jeez, what is up with you meeting famous people?
"What is someone like you doing in a small city like this?" You asked out of curiosity.
She crossed her arms, "I came to visit someone," she said.
Your eyes made their way to the window, and the sun shined brightly, making you squint your eyes. You must've been here overnight.
Then you remembered...
"What time is it...?" you nervously asked.
Yae responded, "around noon."
You gasped, "I'm super late for school! I gotta lea--"
"You're not going anywhere," a nurse kindly said as she entered the room, "you won't be discharged for another few hours. We need to make sure you're stable enough first."
"But my friends!" You whined, "I'm sure they're all super worried!"
especially Ayato... you couldn't imagine how worried he was when you never showed up for school.
Wait... you could just text him?
You began to look around your room in search of your phone.
"looking for something?" Yae asked.
"Yeah, my phone," you answered, "where is it?"
Yae awkwardly moved her head to face the window, "it broke," she said bluntly.
"Oh," you weren't sure how to respond.
You were trapped in the hospital room with no way to contact your friends, and they are all probably extremely worried about you. You weren't even able to leave for at least another couple of hours, too!
Everyone probably thinks you've been kidnapped, or worse...
...You didn't want to think of a worse outcome.
After the nurse gave you some medicine and did a quick check on you she left the room, leaving you and Yae alone once again. You weren't a big reader, in fact, you've never read one of Yae's books despite her being one of the most popular authors right now. You weren't sure if you should take this opportunity to ask for an autograph.
Finally, the silence broke when Yae spoke, "you know, you shouldn't wander around by yourself at night anymore. You don't know what else could happen in the future."
You nodded, realizing this was all because you refused to let Ayato take you home.
"I had a similar occurrence once, but my friend showed up in time to save me," Yae explained, "I haven't wandered around by myself at night since."
You've been fine all those nights, but you never expected something would happen... and wait, didn't Yae show up by herself to rescue you?
"Weren't you by yourself when you found me, though?" You asked.
"I was with a coworker, but when I found you they went to go get help." She explained.
That made sense, I guess.
You lifted your arm to scratch your head which had suddenly gotten really itchy.
Yae gasped, "that ring!"
You stopped yourself from itching your head and looked down at it. It was the ring that Ayato gifted you after accidentally getting you sick.
"So you're the one who Ayato was--" before she could finish her sentence the door to the hospital room slammed open.
